Squid Skewer
David O.

Favorite location in Estoril. Located right on the oceanfront. Fish is fresh and on display. Servers will gladly show you what is in for the day. Go for the Squid skewer when available! Portions are on the larger size. Servers are fun and knowledgeable, they seem personally invested in your experience.

I've been a loyal customer of Baiuka for 4 years for good reason. The staff is excellent and friendly. The ocean view is incredible and it's a very local crowd. Take the time to talk to Ruben behind the bar. He's a bonafide comedian. Brito and the rest of the team will take care of you well. Choose your own fish and libation and watch the waves roll in. Worth the walk.

I was hungry and could have eaten anything. Busy Sunday afternoon, staff were quite short with customers and it took a while to get service.

fresh fish, clean eating. wine and service is great. the servers and owners care about you having a good experience. we visited in September so maybe they weren't as busy as high season. TIP: don't go on Monday as the owner says the fish doesn't come fresh on that day. TIP 2: fast, free wifi! beautiful view. highly recommended and I am high maintenance. :-)

Right on the beachfront promenade. Fresh sea bream (14.90) washed down with a beer, enjoyed with the sounds and sights of the sea.

We ordered grilled sardines and a salad at lunch time. Simple, good, easy and cheap. Nice staff.

Great spot for some fresh seafood! Tried the squid which were indescribably good. Succulent, well…read moremarinated yet light, simple, and just so fresh. We also got the grilled sardines. They were as expected. Generally, seafood isn't cleaned by default (fish bile is not removed, shrimp is not deveined, etc.) so I had to do some cleaning but they were fresh and good too. Very salty, but you can avoid the skin to avoid the salt. Both mains came with a side. Choices were salad, boiled potatoes, or fries. Tried the salad and fries and got some rice as an additional side. Not too pricey either.

I never got to finish this review from our Portugal trip this past Spring…read more We visited the town of Cascais while in Lisbon. Cascais was highly recommended by the hotel concierge and an expat we met while in line at Pasteis de Belem. We decided to search for restaurants that are off the beaten path and luckily came across Melody. It was cozy and had a small outdoor dining area. The menu was pretty expansive and the portions were generous for the price. Since we've had lots of seafood during our trip so far, I asked our friendly and wonderful server for his recommendations on their beef menu. I opted for Bitoque à Melody. This was a generous portion of steak in mushroom cream sauce which was outstanding. My husband ordered Salmão Grelhado, a grilled salmon filet and baby potatoes served with garlic and garlic pepper in a light olive oil sauce. For dessert, server recommended 2 that are popular, but it didn't stand out as much as the savory items.

First off, you need to make a reservation. The restaurant is small and very popular. I was able to…read moremake a reservation for the same day though, because luckily Portugal had a World Cup match that night. We sat inside the cantina side. Our server was adorable and bubbly with a great sense of humor. She did get really busy though toward the end of our meal and it was a challenge to flag her down for our check. With that said, she provided exceptional service earlier. This is the kind of place you want to go to with others who love tasting a variety of dishes. I went with my family who is not into that concept, and so I had to choose just one dish that I would not be sharing, as no one else wanted to share theirs either. Some of the dishes were quite small, but mine was not! I ordered the octopus which was cooked to perfection and had a mix of potatoes and greens underneath. Would definitely order this again! It was one of the best octopus dishes I've ever had. The one thing we did share was the croquettes. They were delightful, but kind of expensive as they were 1.70Euros each and were literally one bite, but a very flavorful bite at that. I also had a few glasses of their summer sangria which I rather enjoyed. I would return here when in Cascais again, but maybe with a different group of people so that we can treat it as tapas as it should be instead of individual dishes. There's so much more I want to try from their menu!

We were lucky to get a table - as we ate we could see people lining up around the corner…read more It was good but not great: Pork cheeks with potato gratin came out cold and were not fall apart tender. Seafood pasta tasted as if it had been cooked in seafood water, but I think that's the style around here. Croquettes were meh. Pasta special of the day (vegetarian) was incredible. Sangria was perfect. Most of the staff were super friendly and helpful. Overall good, but not somewhere I'd fight to get into considering the number of close by restaurants.
