Great scenary along the way. 3) It has a volunteer that rides along and helps people out, like a buddy who gets you home if you're too drunk. 4) It's long. The gravel on the trail is always nicely evened out, and the paths are wide enough to support people going both directions comfortably. It makes a fun day trip to ride in from Edina or Hopkins and go to a restaurant on the Minnetonka lakeside. Excelsior is a little further along the trail, so if you want to go shopping then that's an option too! The trail can get a little crowded on nice days, and there are kind of a lot of stop signs at a few points. But overall a fun way to spend an afternoon!

There are lovely parks surrounding the lake, and the paths are nicely paved connecting to Minneapolis, Maple Grove, and Minnetonka. The paths are ideal for biking, running, and a nice stroll. There's lots and lots of parking, Medicine Lake is one of my favorite lakes and I love the walking paths something one can enjoy all year long with the change of seasons, oh the colors and the fragrance! Hiked the dirt trail through the woods and was surrounded by nature. An adventure! All we have left to try here is the golf course. Several of my neighbors golf it every week and are fans. It's made cycling stress-free and fun for me and gives my family peace of mind. When I need to get into downtown Minneapolis quickly and safely the North Cedar Lake Regional Trail is my go-to. It's a direct and secure route so I can focus on the ride not traffic. And when I want to get into the "wild" the Lake Minnetonka Regional Trail delivers. It's great to have all these options under one umbrella, urban commuting to scenic escapes. Three Rivers Park District truly lives up to their "Twin Cities Adventure" promise. They're dedicated to maintaining such high quality, safe and diverse trails and it shows in every pedal stroke. I didn't find a listing for the Luce Line Trail, the Lake Independence Trail so I used this one…read more This review is for the Luce Line Trail. This is another fabulous trail in the western suburbs of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Unlike the Dakota Rail Trail which is asphalt, this is not paved which makes it ideal for runners and walkers looking for a lower impact surface. It is rarely busy and is beautiful. There is a parallel horse trail and while you don't see equines often, I have on occasion over the last 10+ years of active trail use seen riders. You will cross a number of streets so you need to be careful but there isn't much traffic on most of the cross streets. There are a number of parking spots for the trail's entry. Enjoy! In winter it can be a bit difficult to traverse as the footprints freeze making a bumpy terrain. However a good pair of winter hiking boots or depending upon the conditions, snow shoes, makes for a lovely winter trek. Enjoy!

They…read morehave an awesome water feature at the playground that was wonderful on the hot day that we went. A lot of the trails were naturally shaded so we had a good time exploring. We saw two garter snakes, many turkeys, a beaver?muskrat? And of course lots of birds. The educational building was also pretty epic. Lots of different creatures (living and taxidermy) to check out. Definitely making this a frequent stop for us.
