Cindy's is a neighborhood hole in the wall and not everyone's cup of tea but with friendly bartenders and cheap drinks, you can't go wrong. Last time I came I didn't have any cash and there is a card minimum of $10 so with 3 whiskey and cokes at $2.75 I hadn't met it and they gave me a free drink chip (valid at any time) so I could use the card and not waste money. Update! Cindy's Friendly Tavern is a fun low key dive bar. Most of the clientele are lifetime Lovelandites, so can be pretty clicky. Depending on day and time you go. Otherwise it is exactly where you want to go if you want to meet real people. read more

Me and my friend went in and they immediately asked for our id's. That's fine, I don't care, fair question. Then the bar tender said sorry we don't take out of state id's. I understand the necessity of checking ID's but this time was ridiculous.... On a Tuesday night I was celebrating my mom's promotion with my dad and her good friend. We checked around Loveland at 9pm and everything was closed but Cindy's. We walked in and grabbed a table and my dad decided to buy a round. The bartender refused to serve him unless she saw all of our ID's. Having left our stuff in the car and BEFORE even getting the chance to explain that...she proclaimed we all had to leave immediately and kicked us all out. The kicker is...she said we could pay for a round of drinks first, but then she would have to kick is out for not having identification. Some places just aren't worth the hassle. P.S. - Went in there on a busy Saturday night and didn't see a single person get carded. So if you're going to be rude at least be consistent. read more

This has become a regular stop for me and fellow Loveland High School graduates. It's not fancy at all, but it's a nice place to grab a drink with friends. I absolutely love sitting out on the patio in the summer, and it's easy to walk to from the bike trail. read more

I love this bar. Very laid back with down to earth patrons. I stopped in a couple of years ago during Sunday football games, and they had some nice homemade food offerings for everyone. Owner introduced herself to me a couple of months ago when I was there for a quick one. Very nice person and inviting. I'd recommend you giving it a try. read more

You get what you would expect. It is a dive bar, dark inside, outdated decor but I've never had any problems. Drinks are cheap and no frills. I miss Cindy's jello shots though at 6 for $5 they were fun. And it's nice to be able to sit at a table outside and have a drink near the bike trail. Smoking is allowed outside. !! NOT A PLACE FOR YOUNG ADULTS!! My friends and I went to Cindy's last night for a few drinks. We were enjoying our time, most of us were playing pool and one friend was just sitting at the bar alone eating some pizza. A lady walked up to her and told her that she needed to leave out of no where and she asked why and the lady replied "I don't need to tell you, you need to go". My friend then proceeded to ask the lady to speak to a manager, the lady then replied "I am Cindy, and you have to go". We were all very confused when she came to us to tell us it was time to go because she had gotten kicked out for minding her own business at the bar. No one was drunk or acting rowdy. Our theory is that she was told to leave so that regulars could have a seat at the bar because ever seat was taken and they were all standing around upset. We may not be regulars but kicking someone out just for their seat is ridiculous. I don't think a good business move is making paying customers leave for people who come often because then how would the bar expect more loyal customers to come in? I would not recommend this bar. There's many other bars with kind owners and rational regulars who understand that sometimes new people will show up and you may have to wait for a seat. Train stop is newly remodeled and much nicer anyways. read more

It is (and always has been) one of the best places to go to just relax, let your hair down, and have a fun time. My Dad (Charile Harper Sr.) owned it back in the late-40s and my grandfather (Rudolph Braun) owned it before him. They tell me that when I was a toddler, they let me run up and down the bar to the delight of patrons (who dubbed me "Dry Run"). Oh, and by the way, it was "The Friendly Tavern" back then, too. This morning we called to see if they had found a phone, she said They cleaned the bar last night but you can come look. Husband & I stopped here while roaming the streets of Loveland. This is a very comfortable & casual bar with plenty to do while you are having a beverage. We played Keno & chatted with the bartender who was sweet as they come. There's pool & darts, music & fun but the best surprise of all for me was when I went to the ladies room before leaving. WOW! I was not expecting a perfectly spotless and tidy little water closet. Whoever designed and outfitted this tiny little space did an awesome job! OHIO ID'S ONLY! As a citizen of this great city, I love when my friends from out of state come to visit because I see it as an opportunity to show off the "hidden gems" of our city. I thought Cindy's so called friendly tavern, would be a great place to bring a friend from Illinois and show him a good time. I was sorely mistaken. After taking some of our parties drink orders members of our party were asked to show identification, which we all were ready and willing to do because we were all of age. Two Ohio ID'S were accepted and then came the innocent out of state friend not knowing what awaits him. After taking one glance at the Illinois identification, it was instantly rejected without any inspection whatsoever. When we tried to calmly explain the situation that he was an out of town friend from college coming to visit, the bartenders only response was "OHIO ID'S ONLY!" After seeing that there was no reasoning with the bartender and that the nonsensical rule was going to be upheld, we stood in disbelief from the interaction that had just occurred. We decided it was best to take our impure out of state business somewhere else, somewhere where people are not judged based on the state they were born in, but rather on the actual fact that they are of the legal drinking age. This experience has disappointed me and I will never be bringing business there ever again. Cindy's should 100% change their name from friendly tavern to place of unreasonable rules and regulations.
