History
Established in 2018.
Owner and founder of Balance Acupuncture, Lauren Becker, L.Ac., has been practicing Chinese Medicine in the Lowcountry since 2013.
After welcoming her daughter in 2018, Lauren’s vision for her work began to shift. She wanted to create a practice that allowed space for the things that mattered most: family, personal well-being, and meaningful work. She opened her own solo practice inside a Pilates studio and named it Balance Acupuncture, inspired by the balance she was seeking in her own life.
Over time, Balance grew naturally through word of mouth and patient referrals. As the practice expanded, additional practitioners joined the team, and Balance eventually moved into its own larger space.
Today, that same philosophy remains at the heart of Balance. We’re committed to creating a peaceful, welcoming practice where our team can care for ourselves, support one another, and show up as our best selves for you.
Meet the Business Owner: Lauren B.
Lauren grew up just outside of Washington, DC, and earned her BA in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Maryland. Her own experiences with Chinese medicine first sparked her interest in acupuncture. After finding relief from allergies and asthma through acupuncture beginning in her teens, she knew she wanted to help others experience the same kind of support.
Lauren went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Chinese Medicine from Daoist Traditions, a four-year graduate program in North Carolina. She is nationally board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and licensed to practice in South Carolina.
Today, Lauren enjoys working as a general practitioner and treating people in all walks of life. Her approach is integrative, individualized, and centered around the person in front of her. Her goal is to help you better understand your body, feel more in control of your health, and feel strong and well in it.
