After I had a baby, my body was hurting some. My joints and back were hurting. I wondered if there is a special massage for postpartum and when I yelped it, I found this place. I went to its website and it mentioned about pregnancy related massage certification and services. It seemed to have good reviews although there are not many, I decided to give a try.
I called and made an appointment with Irma. They take your credit card info to hold and they have 24 hour cancellation policy. I went during the week, so it was easy for me to find street parking right in front of the building. When I walked in, the reception area was not big but clean and well-decorated with soothing music playing in the background. The receptionist was nice over the phone and also in person. They asked me to fill out and answer some questionnaires about what kind of health problems that I have. When my turn came, I was led to a room which was a bit small but it is a typical room size you can expect at a massage place. Irma came in and we discussed what was bothering me and she also gave me some tips about breastfeeding and such and it was nice. She was knowledgeable in terms of how muscles are connected and why I feel the tension/pressure.
I really enjoyed the massage. I typically like my massage deep and she knew exactly where and how much pressure I wanted from the start. I felt like she took time to massage me and get those knots loosened. She focused on the back which I really needed and she also help soften my breasts where got hardened with breast milk. Maybe it was one of the first times that I went out without a baby, but I felt really relaxed after the massage.
Maybe because I have not gotten postpartum massage before. However, I did not really feel much of a difference between postpartum massage vs. regular massages that I have gotten in the past. The receptionist also mentioned that it is a Swedish massage. Regardless, I felt great.
My only complaint would be that their pricing was a bit confusing. Maybe I missed it, but their website did not show the prices for each service that they offer. When I first called to find out how much postpartum massage would be, they said $85. Whoever answered the phone first told me that usual massage is cheaper but since it is postpartum massage, it will be $85. I called few days later to make an appointment and I asked for the price again, and the receptionist then told me that it is $125. I confronted her and she said she would make an exception and book me for $85 this time. When I went in for the appointment, the receptionist told me that they made an exception for me since it is my first time and gave me a discount. So, I asked, if the massage is normally $125, then she said "no, it is usually $85." So, it was very confusing and it did not make sense to me how I am getting a discount if it is the normal price. I did not see the list of prices anywhere at the place either, so I couldn't really confirm or reference to something. At the end of the massage though, they ended up charging me around $76, so.. I am not really sure what is real price. They mentioned about a package deal that they offer three 60 minute massage for $200, so it is not too bad, I guess.
I really enjoyed the experience though despite of the confusion with price and I think $200 for 3 massages is pretty good deal for the quality of massage I got. I just wish there was a bit of clear pricing indicated somewhere for any customers in the future.
