Five years ago I moved about 30 minutes away from Balance. I felt I needed to find another yoga studio that was closer to where I live. I must have tried 6 different studios back then. But I abandoned that search and I keep coming back to Balance. You may think I'm nuts; but for me, none of the yoga studios that I visited embodies the essential spirit of yoga like Balance. And that spirit comes directly from Melissa and through to the studio's instructors. She manages to strike a BALANCE between being a serious student of yoga and not taking herself too seriously. This is the place to go if you want a calm, beautiful, friendly, accepting atmosphere. You feel welcomed here no matter who you are, what you have or how you look. In addition, Melissa offers special sessions, like Sacred Circles or Sound, Scent and Yoga, and she is a Life Coach. I have participated in many of these sessions and I feel a deeper connection to my true self. If you are looking for a yoga studio - come to Balance. There are so many wonderful things to say about Balance, but I'd like to start with the teachers. Debbie Medina O'Connor and Mary Demarest are my two go to gals...they taught my first two classes at Balance and they both have such amazing energy. I've been smitten every since. I've been practicing yoga for over 5 years and even though I've been here for a mere 6 months, I will never change studios...this is my home. I don't just come for the yoga, I come to be with my family and refer Balance to anyone who will listen! I'd like to also thank teachers Holly, Annie, Kesha, Heather, Leigh and Lisa. You all have such diverse teaching styles, all the more reason a Balance newbie should experience different classes and teachers. Thank you Melissa for a great studio, fun atmosphere and the best teachers. If there was one tiny suggestions it would be to have a few day or afternoon classes during the week. I started going to Balance in 2012. I was referred to Melissa ( The Owner) during one of the hardest times in my life. I literally was given her cell phone number and i sent her a text while i was sobbing over life. Everything from weight issues, work stress, life stress, guys etc! You name it and it all hit at once. This women didn't know me from a whole in the wall and wrote back. She had me come to a class and towards the end while in savasana i don't know what came over me but i literally started crying. Between the sweat, tears and exhaustion of life... That cry was the start of me finding my way again. I continued on and still drop in every so often to this day. Melissa also down the line became my life coach and helped me love myself again. So for that i give Balance an all around 5 stars. Thank you Melissa... Mmmmm, can't decide where to start..I've been coming to Balance for the last 8-9 years (from the basement days to this fabulous new space that Melissa has created), love the feeling of 'coming home' at the end of each yoga practice, you just want to not leave from this sanctuary and the bliss that Melissa has created with all her experience and loving and giving self, she makes it so easy to help us find that inner peace and show us that being 'you' is just ENOUGH, specially in this super fast speedy world, she guides us through meditation to find that inner peace and learn to live in the moment and enjoy it..and all the wonderful teachers are just as caring and loving and giving.. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. I am so happy to have found such a great environment to practice yoga! the teachers are fantastic. ALL OF THEM! Yoga has changed my way of thinking and has most definitely helped keep me balanced. I normally attend Mary's $5 hot yoga class on sunday! Mary always has something new for us to try and there is never any pressure to do anything you are not comfortable with. and each classes is different, never the same. she is definitely one of my favorite teachers there. Melissa, the owner, is a trip, I love her! she has quite the personality and definitely creates an awesome vibe for the studio! You should never be afraid to attend classes here for the first time, they are always very friendly and welcoming. I LOVE balance yoga studio! Melissa offers a variety of yoga classes that meet all different skill levels and allows everyone to feel comfortable in their own skin. Whether I want to get hot and sweaty in a HOT yoga class or stretch it out in her yummy yoga classes, I always leave happy:) The bonus of this studio is that it's not just yoga!! The studio also offers amazing bootcamps. I HATE WORKING OUT but I love the bootcamps because Heather has found a way to make the classes fun. Each and every member of the "badass booty campers" have become part of a family and encourage one another to work hard and stay focused each and every day. Go and discover just how powerful you are. I started with trainer Heather Bowers Dyrness in October '14. I have never felt stronger. Heather strikes the perfect 'balance' between motivation and respect and provides modifications for my injuries. In Booty Camp I can work out next to people who are decades younger, and we each get a challenging, personalized workout - I'm not quite sure how she pulls that off! Melissa has created a supportive environment with a variety of yoga classes - 'soulful flow' is my favorite, but aaah, the 'hot yoga.' Also love when Mary teaches.
