Alright..I'll try my best to save whoever's reading this from going through a novel about how much I love this space and the people in it. Very peaceful atmosphere and such great instructors. Definitely has helped me maintain peace of mind and it can be a good workout too! Debbie's warm sessions on Mondays are great if you're new or want to feel it out. If I get a friend to come for their first time, I usually tell them to take a warm class along with me. Melissa's Yummy Yoga sessions will keep you smiling, laughing and sweating (very yummy!). And Janice's sessions helped me focus on my breath so I can relax into poses that I didn't think I can do (or still working on doing lol). She gives a lot of individual attention as well to make sure you're practicing correctly to prevent any injury. Which is good because I'd be tumbling and falling all over the place without her direction. Can't wait to try out all the other classes. :) See that? Feel like I've said so much. Just gooo! The yoga studio is really nice, clean, spacious, and easy to find. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. I had an issue with my account which they rectified immediately upon my emailing them. Shana's class is really good and challenging. I wish they'd make it hotter though especially when the description says 90-100. If the schedule had more options I'd definitely pay to come more often but unfortunately there's not many classes. I never really knew the true definition of YOGA, until I joined Balance Yoga. My friend introduced me to the place back in 2010 when I was feeling down. First, I didn't know how yoga would make me feel better, second I didn't know yoga could make me sore! I love the ambiance, classes, students, instructors (especially Melissa!) and everything else about Balance. I love how Melissa is open to adding new classes to the schedule such as Booty Camp and Booty Barre and even adding earlier time slots (which work for me on weekends now that I became a mom). Highly recommend trying classes there. Since joining in 2010, I have had several friends & my husband try hot yoga & it also opened their outlook on yoga. Recently purchased the 3 classes for $30 option as a new student. So far, I'm a fan! I've only attended the Beginners Hot Flow Yoga class at this point and it was a REAL workout. You WILL be sweating - so make sure to bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated. Phebe was our instructor and I thought she did a great job! One thing I wish I knew before I went was that the entrance is at the back of the building (it's on the left side if you're looking straight at the building from the parking lot). It seems like there's only one large room where all of the classes take place. They make it super easy to make a reservation online - you just sign up and if for some reason you need to cancel, you can do so up to 5 hours before the starting time of your class (without any penalty). You can also do drop-ins for $20 a class, but it seems like the more popular classes fill up rather quickly. read more

I've taken Master Classes with notable teachers such as Dharma Mittra and Tao Porchon-Lynch and I have to say Mary's class left me feeling just as amazing. Her approach is heartfelt and healing. I felt the sincerity and choked up during the final meditation. I will be traveling back for her class. read more

I love this place! The decor inside is very zen-like, modern and tasteful and the instructors are friendly and helpful. The owner, Melissa who is also an instructor is delightful and very funny- I like her classes the best. Not only do they offer hot and warm flow yoga classes, but also hot booty camp and core strengthening classes. The hot yoga classes are NOT bikram, which I actually like because I find bikram is less challenging for me, while the classes here have much more of a variety in poses and the routine can change frequently. I've also heard the rates here are significantly lower than rates at other studios (having never been to other hot yoga studios, I will take people's word on that, but from what I understand, the norm is $20 a class; here it is $10). If you like hot yoga, I highly recommend you try this place, you won't be disappointed. My only complaints are that they don't issue paper receipts for class purchases (as I am big on paper receipts) and their earliest evening classes aren't until 6pm (I get out of work at 3:30 and since the studio is a lot closer to my work than my home, I find myself with time to kill). I bought a 10 card pass this year and had a great experience at Balance. The instructors that I had were fantastic, the environment is clean and peaceful, and the classes are really great. Hot yoga seems to be their biggest class. They crank up the heaters and it's a sweat fest. Not for everyone - but I leave that class feeling like I just left a spa. Melissa usually teaches, and she really knows her stuff. She will call you out if you are off your game however, but I never minded that. Flow yoga with Caroline was fantastic as well - a lot of guys in this class. It was also hot, but more active and she does a lot more advanced, strength type poses. I have to say I was pretty much a beginner when I started at Balance and I came out being fairly confident in taking any of the classes they offer. The biggest let down to this place is that classes fill up FAST! You have to get their at LEAST 20 minutes early or else you may get turned away. Only other negative is location - kind of tricky to find and tricky to park. That never stopped me though. Oh and P.S. it IS expensive.. Great place to be calm quiet and refreshed. read more

I live in NYC and have attended a ton of yoga classes over the years. Mary's class was by far the best yet! It was so worth driving to Jersey to attend her class! Mary instictively adjusts each move to fulfill the needs of each of her students. Its a smooth transition between poses, a natural ebb and flow of teacher to student, from student to teacher. Before you know it, your class is over and you are left wanting more! A definite MUST! read more

I've been coming here on and off for a few years now. Aside from Melissa, the roster of teachers always change. Right now, the best teachers to take are Stacy, Heather and Melissa. The others I find give poor instruction and instead use the time to workout, never walking around to correct. It is a wonderful place. All the mentors are wonderful. Mitchell is very friendly and takes extra care to correct new learners. They gradually speed up the moves in your class which is what I love the most. The calm music at the backend relaxes us and the cold towel on your forehead at the end of the class is such a luxury. Fresh. Light. Spa-like. I've done yoga all over, and Balance is my favorite. Here's why. I relax the moment I walk into the studio. The staff is happy to see me, even new staff I'm meeting for the first time. The space is always spotless, people are open-hearted and welcoming, and the heated studio - which I had been afraid to try- does amazing things for the body, both in terms of flexibility, and recovery. I never feel sore after hot yoga at Balance. And there's a meditative, uplifting theme to each class, you always leave feeling more clear headed and self confident.
