She is going against the code of ethics in both Washington state and the American Counseling Association. I have never been treated so poorly by a helping professional. Please do yourself a favor and do not book with her. Others with the agency may be good but I am so traumatized by this, I won't go near this agency. The support staff was helpful with filing a formal complaint but I am literally dealing with a traumatic aftermath of a practitioner who took a story and twisted it into one where faulty assumptions landed on others. She even tried to get me to believe in something that hadn't happened. False memory is a real event that where someone is recalling something that was suggested- and I left with her questioning deeply in an inciminating way which had not occurred. I went in with anxiety- for her to say, "you will have even more anxiety after I talk with you," and, "I tell people what they don't want to hear,". I started to get the idea she would twist my words and she did. This is awful, especially when you are trusted professional counselor. I don't think anyone should book with this very spiteful individual.

Counselors like Jim were compassionate, supportive, and took time to help family members understand the recovery process in a healthy and productive way. I will forever be grateful for the time he gave me. Especially during a moment when I struggled to understand certain treatments or recommendations, Jim took the time to explain the reasoning behind them with patience and compassion. He gave me understanding, reassurance, and emotional safety during an incredibly overwhelming time. That experience was exactly what I believed counseling at NorthPoint would be. Unfortunately, our experience with one counselor, Carolina, was deeply upsetting and honestly one of the most emotionally damaging parts of an already difficult season of life. Within the first few minutes of meeting me during a family counseling session, I felt immediately judged and labeled rather than supported. Instead of helping my husband and me work through the issues we were trying to heal within our marriage, I felt like I had to defend my character. I brought a detailed document I had spent many hours creating because I wanted to make the most of our counseling time and provide context in hopes of helping my husband and our relationship heal. Instead of feeling heard, I felt criticized, dismissed, and placed in a very negative light. The session created more conflict between my husband and me than we had experienced prior to treatment. There were multiple comments and interactions that I found inappropriate and deeply unprofessional. At one point, comments were made about our 6-year-old child potentially becoming an addict in the future because of me, which was devastating to hear as a mother. I was also referred to as "manic" during the session, which felt incredibly dismissive and hurtful given the vulnerable situation I was already in. These statements were made within the first 5-10 minutes of meeting me for the very first time. Carolina did not know me personally, nor were we there for me to be labeled or psychologically evaluated. We were there to work on healing the damage addiction and unhealthy communication had caused within our marriage. Another painful experience happened when a mutual friend passed away while my husband was in treatment. I had specifically communicated to Carolina that I wanted to be the one to tell him. I reached out asking how to appropriately handle the situation and was told I would receive guidance. Instead, my husband called unexpectedly already aware that someone had died, leaving me blindsided and emotionally unprepared for that conversation. During that call, he was extremely emotional and overwhelmed, and I was trying to process the loss myself while also supporting him with no warning or preparation. The conversation felt rushed and chaotic, and before we were even able to fully talk through what had happened or comfort one another, his phone was taken away. When I later expressed how upsetting that experience was for me, the response I received felt dismissive and lacking empathy. All communication regarding this situation was documented through text messages. There were also multiple moments where it felt like she was encouraging distance between my husband and me rather than supporting reconciliation and healthy communication. My husband repeatedly expressed that coming home to his family was what he truly wanted and believed was best for him, yet up until the day he left treatment she continued trying to persuade him not to come home. Even after discharge, we have had to put significant effort into repairing damage within our marriage that we both feel was intensified by our counseling experience with Carolina. After treatment, I also came across written notes from this counselor that contained deeply negative statements about me. Reading those notes was heartbreaking and reinforced the feeling that I had not been treated with fairness, compassion, or neutrality during the process. When we later shared some of these experiences with another counselor, they appeared genuinely shocked and concerned by the professionalism and guidance we described receiving. Before my husband was discharged, I mentioned these concerns to several people at NorthPoint and do not believe they were taken seriously or appropriately addressed. I also know that I am not the only family who struggled with this counselor. I personally know of two other families who expressed dissatisfaction with their experience working with Carolina. They raised concerns during a family support meeting led by Chip and stayed afterward to speak with him directly regarding their experiences. I truly believe NorthPoint helped save my husband's life, and for that I will always be grateful.

Discovering Ideal Option Mountlake Terrace, was nothing short of a stroke of luck in my journey…read moretowards sobriety. As someone who struggled to break free from the chains of alcohol addiction on my own, this outpatient medically-assisted program provided the lifeline I desperately needed. Through a harmonious blend of medication, counseling, and compassionate care from nursing professionals, Ideal Option not only eased my transition into recovery but also empowered me to reclaim control of my life. Without the medication aspect of the program I am not sure I would have been successful in quitting drinking. It really made a difference in my outcome relative to other past attempts at maintaining sobriety. From the moment I first stepped into the center, I was greeted by the radiant smile of LaTanya, the front desk administrator. Her cheery disposition, professionalism, and unwavering consideration immediately set the tone for the supportive environment that Ideal Option embodies. LaTanya's warmth and efficiency ensured that every visit began on a positive note. However, it was the exemplary care provided by individuals like Adriana and Michelle that truly distinguished Ideal Option from other treatment centers. Adriana, a nursing professional at Ideal Option, exuded a rare blend of expertise, empathy, and genuine concern for my well-being. Her medical knowledge and dedication to getting my entire medical history instilled a sense of trust and confidence in the treatment plan. Additionally, Adriana's skill in administering pain-free blood draws further underscored her dedication to ensuring a comfortable and seamless experience for patients. Likewise, Michelle, my counselor at Ideal Option, proved to be an invaluable source of support and guidance. Beyond her extensive knowledge and deep understanding of medical-assisted therapy, Michelle's down-to-earth demeanor and compassionate approach made our sessions not only informative but also surprisingly enjoyable. Her ability to create a judgment-free space where I felt heard and understood was instrumental in my healing process. Michelle's insights and encouragement served as a constant source of motivation, driving me to confront my challenges head-on. The facility was spacious and comfortable, and I I was delighted to discover that my entire treatment at Ideal Option was covered by my insurance. It was reassuring to learn that Ideal Option accepts most insurance plans, making their comprehensive services accessible to a wide range of individuals seeking support on their journey to recovery. However, what truly sets Ideal Option apart was its solid program delivered by truly caring employees. People work here because they really care. Throughout my time at Ideal Option, I never once felt scrutinized or condemned for my past struggles. Instead, I was met with understanding, acceptance, and unwavering support from every member of the team. I also really appreciated that Ideal Option didn't take a one- solution- fits- all approach and instead my recovery plan was carefully tailored to how I was subjectively progressing and feeling and adjusted accordingly. I wholeheartedly recommend Ideal Option as a lifeline where transformation is not only possible but inevitable.
