The short trail that wraps around the lake is good for a leisure troll. It runs about a mile long and has some really nice California Black Oak and Fir trees to see during the walk. There is no signage for the park so use your GPS. There is plenty of space for parking at the gate. The Camp Fire ravaged the area in 2019 and the scars are still very much visible everywhere to date. Miraculously, this spot was untouched and remains beautiful.

Oh well. There was a small sign about the tree. There were 2 public unisex bathrooms next to the tree available to use too. It is next to the Calif State Park Northern Buttes District Headquarters open to the public M-F 9-3, and you can get maps and some information there. I think it's worth a stop if you're in Oroville.

All right...I love history. California registered historical landmark #1043 resides right in…read moreOroville. It is located in front of a State Parks building. The entire landmark and experience can be soaked in fairly quickly, less than 10 minutes. Plus it is not far from the Gold County Casino. This landmark is for the oldest living orange tree in California. Way back in 1856, someone thought to buy a 2-3 year old seeding off the streets of Sacramento via Mazatlan Mexico and lugged it to Oroville. The story goes that Judge Joseph Lewis planted it on Bidwell Bar (gold mining site) near the toll bridge in 1856. From there it flourished and many folks, including the local miners, enjoyed the oranges and took seeds away with them. So who knows how many other orange trees came to be from this one! Lots I reckon. The orange tree was moved in 1964 due to the Oroville dam construction. To this day it flourishes and bears oranges. How great is that?!? Take note the tree is fenced off and can be admired from a distance. There is an information board and a historical marker. Soak it in folks.

Internet computer use is limited to 1 hour. I didn't look at the book selection that closely but the library itself looks great for studying.

I love our local library. over the years funding, hours, and inventory have gone up/down. But…read morethrough thick and thin, and now even covid, the library remains open and brings needed services to its constituents. Its easy online now to look up a book and put a hold on a title you are looking for from any library in the system. They also have several computers available for the public to use on a limited basis (so that everyone has a chance to use them). consider donating books or money to help them out.

Visited September 18th in Oroville…read more This is my first time here and I needed a quiet place to do some paperwork. I noticed they had several computers as well as printers to use. They have a children's room towards the back and the place was clean except for the ladies bathroom that wreaked of Marijuana! I liked that they had a security guard on duty as there is times when I have drove by and saw some homeless people hanging outside. The staff was helpful and polite. They had alot of books to choose from and some people were even playing chess! Plenty of quiet areas to sit and do your homework or read a book! Plenty of parking and I got my paperwork done without distractions!
