She took several pictures of the mass and immediately sent them to a specialist. The specialist advised us that the mass should be removed and he has since operated on our dog. Our dog is now recovering nicely. If Dr. Weintrop had not found the mass it would probably have grown larger and needed reconstructive surgery. Thankfully Dr. Weintrop found the mass very early. Dr. Weinthrop always demonstrates an amazing array of knowledge and skill, undivided attention to every detail, infinite commitment, compassion, devotion, gentleness and love to our dog every time he visits her. On a personal side you could not find a more genuinely compassionate and caring wonderful human being. Our dog and family love her! The following are a few examples of some of the other amazing people who work at Leaside Animal Clinic and their acts of kindness. A few days ago the specialist wanted to see follow up routine photos of our dog's eye lid (as we didn't have an appointment with him until the following week). I was too squeamish to take the pictures myself so I saw Dr. Rutchanka as Dr. Weintrop wasn't working that day. She tenderly held our dog's eye lid while Alicia skillfully took pictures. Dr. Rutchanka then gently cleaned up the area around both of my dog's eyes. Even though we took Dr.Rutchanka and Alicia's time we were not charged for the visit. Our dog is injected with a needle every two weeks and 2 needles every four weeks. He has had the wonderful care of all of the technicians at one time or other. Each and every one of them has gently knelt on the floor while petting our dog to get him comfortable in preparation for his needle(s) and then skillfully injected our dog while talking lovingly to him. We have taken our present dog to Leaside Animal Clinic in an emergency situation twice. Both times our dog was seen and treated right away. Every staff member possesses compassion, dedication and demonstrates great kindness and patience to all the animals in their care which I see evidence of every time I visit Leaside Animal Clinic. Leaside Animal Clinic killed my cat!…read more I brought my 6-month-old cat in to treat a bad infection in his paw back in Oct 2018. Dr Ruth Weintrop prescribed an antibiotic which didn't work, then she prescribed the same antibiotic and still it didn't work. Then she prescribed x-rays, blood tests, swab tests, etc. After more than $1,000 of additional bills, my cat was still not cured. 8 weeks later, my cat was still limping around in pain & suffering. At this point, she tells me that there's another antibiotic. This other antibiotic was the correct one and it cured my cat's infection after just one round of treatment. Fast forward 4 years later, my cat collapses and is having problems breathing. I take him in immediately to see his new vet, and after several expensive exams costing over $1,000, he is diagnosed with a heart condition and is given months to live. I was told that his heart condition could have been caused by a prolonged infection. After 20 months and more than $2,500 of medications, my cat passes away from heart failure after turning just 6 years old. Dr Ruth Weintrop milked me for as much money as she could and, in the process, she killed my cat. Wtf Ruth, if you knew there were 2 antibiotics to treat my cat's infection (aerobic & anaerobic), why didn't you give my cat the other antibiotic after the first one didn't work. You gave him the same antibiotic twice and then waited 8 weeks later, and after I spent an additional $1,000 plus on useless tests, before giving him the correct other antibiotic. During this 8-week delay, my cat continued to suffer and the infection got into his heart & damaged it beyond repair causing his premature death 5.5 years later.

I've dealt with several of their vets here, most recently Dr. Augustine, and they've all been very helpful and listened to my concerns, and responded professionally and appropriately. I originally switched since they have more reasonable prices for feline dental. Unfortunately for one of my cats, her pre-dental bloodwork led the team to conclude that she likely had cancer. They worked tirelessly to get my cat an appt at the OVC in Guelph where they were able to treat her in the short-term and get the final diagnosis. A note that they stopped accepting new clients in December. This doesn't include new pets for pre-existing clients. The staff here speak English, Cantonese, and I believe Mandarin also.

While it is ostensibly owned and operated by Dr Gary Rosnick, I've yet to meet him -- my visits have been with Dr. Ebru Toprak, a relatively new vet (grad in 2007, her bio states) who has been great thus far. She handled "Dude", Heather's horrified-to-ever-go-to-a-vet-attack-cat with aplomb... I won't go into details, but he does both disgusting and violent things at the vet (any vet), and Dr. Toprak just soldiered on without complaint. As for my Sadie, they're great with her and she with them -- she gets very excited if we're even nearby, and insists on pulling for a visit. That's always a good sign! I will note that, as with most (all?) vets, you're probably better off purchasing your basics -- such as flea control -- elsewhere, as their prices are at a premium. The rest of their services are very reasonably priced, however, and it seems pretty clear they're one of those vets whose first concern is animal well-being rather than profit. All in all, recommended, and I've no concerns pushing me to find another animal hospital!

They called me later and told me they had to pull 2 more teeth and it jumped up to 1,100.00. I wasn't happy with the big jump but i just wanted the cat to be out of pain. When I came to get the cat, it suddenly went up to 1,500.00. I argued but they didn't care. To me, it's all about making money. Don't go to this hospital if your watching your pocket. As someone who doesn't have a ton of money, is a dog walker, a cat sitter & who pours absolutely everything they have into their pet, this left me absolutely gutted and completely changed my opinion on constantly defending the veterinary profession from people who always say they're only out to money grab--y'all are absolutely right (at least in this case). And I hate admitting that (after working/volunteering for almost a decade in shelter medicine, I've practically seen it all). For anyone interested in what happened (sorry it's a long one): I arrived at 5:03 pm in the parking lot for my 5 pm appointment (you have to call them, they won't let you in, & by the time I got Cherry Pie (CP) ready aka outta the car, I called at 5:06, well within the 10 minute cut-off for the appointment. I have attached all the timestamped calls from my phone if anybody wants proof of any of the following calls from either party.) They said come on over to the front door, they're just finishing up with a client, so they'll be right with me. I drop CP off, as clients are no longer allowed in the vet office due to Covid protocols, & go back to my partner's who lives in LV on Western Battery Rd to wait for their call as per usual, once they've performed their exam and have some findings to report/questions to ask (since I cannot be in the room myself, and am not going to sit in my car for 1+ hours.). They call me back at 5:31 pm to discuss various findings for 18 mins, & then the vet calls again at 6:12 pm for another 9 mins after I had to go down to my car, find a medication she's been on (I asked if they wanted her stuff/meds to be left with her when I dropped her off & they declined), read it to the vet & discuss next steps. They called me at 6:26 to let me know CP was good to go (& her invoice estimate). I tried them back at 6:27 (it said cancelled) and we finally connected at 6:29 pm. In that 34 seconds they informed me that they closed at 6 PM, how soon could I get there, I said about 15 mins, they informed me that was unacceptable & that I would be charged a LATE FEE because their staff doesn't run a daycare & SHE was keeping them there late. ...excuse me? The last time I checked, It was NOT my fault YOUR STAFF was STILL TREATING HER past YOUR closing time. & 15 minutes is barely enough time to cross a parking lot, let alone get there from someone's house when you're not allowed to wait inside. I'm not sure what you expect but it seems to me like the staff just wanted to go home & this is price gouging AT ITS FINEST. I was not warned at the start of my appointment you closed at 6. Nor was I warned about "late fees". Or that there was a race/arbitrary cutoff time for me to come collect my dog (apparently under 15 mins from when they call to say they're done with the exam--this has never happened before--I've literally picked her up 1.5+ hours later & it's been fine. *the BIGGEST eyeroll*) I said as much to the girl when I went to pay my bill--which she refused to show me by the way, until I insisted on her printing one out for me--& that's the first I even saw the late fee--talk about trying to sweep it under the rug--I feel lucky to have even caught it because I got there in less than 15 mins from when they called and informed me of this "new (to me) policy"... I told her...either take the late fee off my tab, or I'm not paying for this invoice today. She claimed she didn't have the authority to do so, which I know isn't/couldn't be the case, because she was the only one there, or I said call me tomorrow, you have all my contact info, I'm more than happy to pay for services actually rendered, & left. (I know--from working in the exact same position--if I paid that entire bill there's 0 chance I would have ever gotten a refund on that late fee. At that point it's the principle, not the money that I'm fuming about). When I called TO PAY MY BILL TODAY, they told me I was lucky they didn't call the cops!! I told them they were lucky I didn't report them for fraud LOLOL just amazing customer service guys, fantastic job. I have secondhand embarrassment FOR YOU. (that's in addition to the time when my dog's cone broke in a week from the shit quality you provided & instead of providing me a new one, they told me to 'use some duct tape for the next month' or I can purchase a brand new one, they told me to 'use some duct tape for the next month' or I can purchase a brand new one again....LMAO) Clients, make your own decisions, but I cannot for the life of me imagine why you'd want to be associated with such customer service idiots.
