I've heard horror stories about inspectors from restaurateur friends before, but was just eating at…read morea restaurant when an LA Health Inspector barged in and didn't follow their own rules. I watch him go from the working on his computer in the front of the house to the back and handing food without washing his hands or wearing gloves, stick the same thermometer he fished out of his pocket into several dishes without even wiping let alone disinfecting it in between, and generally being far more disgusting than any potentially questionable issue the particular restaurant might have had. I also overheard something about wet mops? Did he touch mops and the food without washing hands too? He also constantly interupted the manager while they were dealing with customers during the lunch rush, undermining the manager's ability to effectively manage the shop. While I appreciate the oversight by the county, I also understand what a vital part these small businesses play in our community and would think that inspectors might keep that in mind when planning surprise inspections. Just a thought County of LA, but maybe inspectors should have a basic understanding of food service before given authority over these vaulable components to LA's tax base and not inconvenience tax paying customers any more than necessary when a restaurant is in the weeds?

If you need a property receipt ask the Sargent he will make the officer write one out because the officers don't want to give you accurate information. If you need a letter stating why the police can't give you a report and the officers say no, ask for the Sargent and he will make them do it. I said I have paperwork from the DMV and she didn't believe me, and wouldn't ask about the paperwork; I need the inspection first to get my DMV documents. I asked if I have my paperwork then what; she says "we need an appointment, it can be 3 weeks out." I said "let me schedule an appointment." She says "not without your paperwork." This is already a long process and I can't schedule an appointment 3 weeks out. So it's impossible to get anything done. I could have sworn but, I think they could be all Pigeons and none Mourning Doves which this bird species can be spotted more from the 'City of Arcadia.' But the 'City of Duarte,' also neighbors the 'City of Arcadia!!!! When I feel like playing switch offs, I would drive either here or Old Town Monrovia more frequently than Baldwin Park or San Gabriel (which I used to drive to a lot as well). Will be back soon!
