Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts are also volunteering and in attendance. The pancakes and the sausages the firefighters are making are quite delicious, coupled with a Starbucks coffee generously donated by the Naomi Avenue store. There was milk, bottles of water, chocolate milk, and orange juice available - great for the kids. There are lots of wonderful booths set up, old and new emergency medical services vehicles, and a bouncy house! What more could you want on a Saturday morning in Southern California?!

I wish I could remember all their names, but I was pretty shaken up. These guys handled everything perfectly. They took my vitals, put me in a neck brace, and talked to me like total gentleman (which calmed me down a lot). I always tell people that "things don't happen like they do in the movies", but these guys were just like the movies: unsung heroes doing their jobs because it's the right thing to do, not for the glory. They really did make a bad situation much easier for me to deal with, and for that, they were my "heroes" for today. Thank you AFD! You are appreciated!

There's plenty of peacocks that you'll find hanging out around the residential streets behind Ralph's on Huntington Dr. near the LA Arboretum. The downside to Arcadia though is that if you're new to this community, you don't know that you're not supposed to park overnight on the streets or else you will get a ticket. That's what happened to my husband & I went we parked a mini-van rental car on the street. We didn't realize that we needed to pay for an overnight parking pass from the City Hall for this. =/

A little over a week ago, I really thought I was about to lose everything in the Eaton Fire - but…read morethanks in large part to our amazing local heroes, that didn't happen. We are infinitely thankful for our Monrovia firefighters for saving our house and our cats (twice now)!! We feel very fortunate and our hearts are absolutely broken for all those who haven't been so lucky. Not only do they risk their lives and go above and beyond to fight the fires in our area and save our neighborhoods, but they are wonderful out in the community too. We've lived here eight years now and had to evacuate due to fires twice - during the Bobcat Fire and now the Eaton Fire. Both times, the Monrovia crew swooped in and stopped the fires from spreading down into our neighborhoods immediately. They will forever be our heroes! I also often see them working out at our local YMCA and they are nothing but friendly. Not to mention their presence during all of the Monrovia fairs and festivals - they even let me sit in their trucks in the truck "petting zoo" haha! I've run into them in the grocery stores - again, always so pleasant and kind. It's obvious they really love their community. My son was a firefighter in the Marines - it's such difficult dangerous work and we thank all of our local heroes!! We would have lost everything if it wasn't for you - I hope you all know how much we love and appreciate you!

Quint and advise was appreciated. Noguchi, Captain Estrada and invited me to the table and we dicussed technical features of the "apparatus" (no its' not what you are thinking).
