The classrooms are really new and modern. They have 4 classrooms including one computer lab. All the professors that I have had here are really awesome and great teachers. The best part is that most of them let us out early especially for the one day a week night classes. The professors also enjoy this offsite campus because of the ease of parking. The parking lot is well spaced and plenty of parking here. Overall: This off-site campus rocks and whenever I can get a class here, I jump on the opportunity. I highly recommend getting classes here because parking on main campus can be a hassle and the rooms are really new here .

Need to rewrite I think my review because it got deleted?…read more I used to come here for tutoring for AP bio like 6-7 (unironically) years ago so take my review with a grain of salt. I loved this one male tutor, I think his name was David, so much because he never showed that he judged me and broke down concepts super simply and always encouraged me. This is how all tutors should be. But there was this one woman who went to Harvard or something who brought my mom and I into the office and basically told me it was too late for me and went on and on for a good 30 minutes-an hour about how I'd "never get into a good school" even though I had a 4.0 and I was on a good path, had clinical hours as a 13 year old, and was doing really well. She kept flexing that she went to Harvard and she could tell who would succeed or not, basically saying I'm going to fail at life because she could tell I wasn't going to make it. Ok good for you???? And surprise, she was wrong. I got into the top schools in California and am about to graduate with honors. I wasn't sure if writing a review after this long was fair, since I'm not sure if she still works there, but I still carry that negative memory with me to this day and even included this experience in my college essays. Hope she's not working there anymore and putting students down like that... Hopefully this was just a one-off experience but I'm not confident that it was, since she was way too comfortable rambling on like that. I would give one star because of her but that one tutor saved the rating a little bit.

This was my first time ever doing a drop-off class for my son, and as a stay-at-home mom, I was…read morehonestly nervous. I thought my 4-year-old would cry or have a hard time.. but he didn't at all. As soon as he saw the classroom, the kids, and the teacher, he went straight in and started playing and socializing. It gave me so much peace of mind and made the whole experience stress-free. I was even able to enjoy some "me time" nearby since there are lots of shops, coffee spots, and places to walk around while waiting. When I picked him up, he was so happy and didn't even want to leave. On the way home, he excitedly told me about what he learned, especially writing and letters. I also loved that they did a planting activity, so perfect for spring and such a fun, hands-on experience for the kids. Thank you so much to Ms. Maria for being so warm and welcoming. I am a former student of Steps for 4 years. Looking back at my experience with it, I can…read moreconfidently say that much of my success in high school was built through the rigorous training I had from Steps Academy. Yes, it is a lot of work on top of juggling your school work, extracurriculars, and other commitments. However, the repetitive work ingrains the foundation of math that will be expected in not just high school-level math, but even at the middle school level. Making sure you understand your order of operations, geometry, and other fundamental concepts of math, and then fine-tuning that knowledge through practice, is at the core of what they do. Their English portions explained a lot of the English rules that I have always used, but never knew the terms for. The verb tenses, vocabulary development, and reading analysis that I mastered helped me in my future English courses and essays. As a student there, there were times when I felt frustrated by the amount of work or the way that I was expected to do it (like showing all my work or writing out the equations), but after going through high school, I'm sure that doing it their way helped me build important habits that I would use all the time. Overall, I believe that Steps Academy is a strict but enriching environment that can not only develop fundamental academic knowledge for the future but also help build discipline and work habits that will be necessary throughout life.

I attribute much of my foundational knowledge in math and English vocabulary and grammar to what I learned at Steps. It seems tedious to a kid, but repetitive practice in math is important to build the foundations you need for future algebra and calculus classes. Once you have that, you're able to spend time learning new topics. As a fifth grader, I was learning algebra and trigonometry, which is what I liked about Steps; I was never limited by my age or grade level to what I could learn, and it was very encouraging to get yellow pages and physically see the progress I was making. As for English, vocabulary, proper spelling, knowing grammar rules, reading comprehension, and critical thinking are all important not only in school but also in the real world, and those are all topics that Steps teaches. From a teacher's perspective, in my 4-5 years of teaching at Steps, I will say that my fellow TAs and I try our best to be kind and understanding to the students. We get that most of them have just come from six hours of school, and I myself have been in their position in the past. At the same time, we try and make sure that the student's finish their school homework for the day and that they're not disrupting each other from their assignments. We also give plenty of attention to students, spending hours grading their work and proofreading their essays, while also answering any questions they have and teaching them new material for the week. In my opinion, the knowledge learned and study habits built while at Steps will make for an easier and smoother experience in school in the future, when students reach high school and college.
