I went on Thursday last week to pick up lunch. I got chevapi with fries. So fresh and delicious! It comes with grilled onions and a container of ajmak which is a delicacy on its own. Very clean and inviting atmosphere and staff are always friendly. Will be back for more! read more

Wow, the new owners who just bought this really poured a lot of heart, energy and love into making this a very authentic Bulgarian cafe. It's really improved since we tried it before. Today we ate here with my teenagers and the food is excellent, the portions large and the prices very fair. I had the grilled chicken thighs - flavorful, juicy, tender, just excellent. Came with a nice side of a tomato pepper sauce, not hot, just flavorful and a generous plate of fries. One of us had the banitza, a phyllo dough pastry stuffed with cheese (and spinach if you want). Excellent, flaky, light, really first rate. She also had the fried pickles which were a surprise treat, and now that she knows about them will be eating them often. Another of us had the beef and lamb gyro, i didn't even get to taste it, it got devoured. The prices were great, about $6 to $12 for each of us, but it was really nice, not at all fast food. This was like eating in someone's home. Cannot recommend it enough, we'll be back. read more

This is a European grocery store /bakery specifically focused on Bulgarian grocery and a mix of Balkan food and pastries. There is one or two table outside. I ordered Bulgarian Kufte with salad. The portion is big given the price. If you are not hungry, you can save some for dinner. I really like the food. But, like others mentioned , the front desk girl seems to be not interested in addressing customers. She was mostly on phone while ordering. So I'm giving 4 stars. read more

Received text messages informing me my order is being ready, estimated time for pickup, etc.When I got there to pick up our food, we discovered the restaurant is temporary closed as it was sold 2 weeks ago! The new owner was there getting the place ready for re-opening in a month, and told us old ownership assured him they Have closed all apps, accounts, etc. and that obviously was not accurate! This little locally owned international grocery store is a cute little place to check out in Chesterfield. Located in a plaza, this little unassuming place is full of delicious imported goods as well as offers a small but delicious lunch menu of gyros, paninis and salads. I tried the caprese panini which came with fries and it was very good! Excellent value for $9.99 and quite filling! They do have a small place with table and chairs for dining in. I could easily spend an hour in here just browsing the shelves and the coolers and freezers to check out the array of offerings they have from imported chocolates, ready made frozen meals and chilled cheeses and imported meats which are perfect for charcuterie. This Bulgarian cafe & grocery store is an awesome mom and pop store. We came here 3x now and they have consistently delivered. The cashiers were welcoming, informative and ready to share what's in their menu. I can't say I've had Bulgarian food before, so I can't speak on the authenticity but I like good food and they're good! Their chicken risotto is freshly made hot, in store or togo, and packed with plenty of chicken. Their paninis are excellent also, they boast about their coconut fries/chips - they're unique and we enjoyed them. The sausage wasnt my cup of tea. But their blueberry mascarpone is delicious! We'll have to try their fig mascarpone and Ferrero Rocher cake next! Overall, we plan to come back to try more items and buy some snacks! read more

I picked up a super fresh gyro salad for carryout and they boxed the hot gyro meat separately - what a thoughtful touch! Plentiful fresh lettuce, tomato, red onion and gyro meat served with the best tzaziki I've ever had. There were julienned cucumbers and tons of fresh dill in it that made it taste just awesome- yum! I enjoyed shopping in the frozen food section and dry goods area and picked up some interesting looking Caponata and a Romanian sausage that I'm really looking forward to trying out on my charcuterie board during my next winery visit. It's getting warmer and I'm making plans to spend as much time outside as possible! This little shop is tucked away in Woodchase shopping center just off 364/141 and Olive. I highly recommend. I stopped here on a Thursday evening and picked up dinner to bring home. I ordered the gyro (no tomato add feta) with French fries. My dinner date ordered just gyro meat and a slice of baklava. While we were waiting for our order we perused the attached grocery. Great stuff in there! They carry my favorite Milka bars from Romania. It's dangerously close to home. They also carry a nice variety of other Balkan groceries with an emphasis on Bulgarian items such as feta and yogurt. I thought the gyro was great. We both liked the meat. I loved the tzatziki and the feta they gave me a large cup of on the side. I was not a fan of the French fries. Just your basic freezer bag crinkle cut. There are a few other things I'd like to try on the menu and if you are a regular around here you know I love a good gyro. Also looking forward to trying some of the desserts they make. Made my first trip to Balkan last week. Ordered the 3-Piece Pork Kufte & Kebuke Mix with Shopska salad. And an order of those Mini Potato Cakes. Easily two meals for me. LOL Everything was delicious. The potato cakes came with some kind of garlic sauce/dip. I found myself taking bites of meat and dipping it into the sauce, which enhanced the flavor of the meat even more. I could tell everything I ordered was made fresh. The pricing is very reasonable especially considering the quality and portions. I'll be back soon. read more

I can't say enough good things about this excellently curated Eastern European and Balkan store. For anyone that understands good food such as Bulgarian feta, French butter, Bosnian sausages, Russian dumplings, there is no better store that I find in the area. For anyone that has nostalgia for Soviet canned or baked goods, again, there is no equal to this curated collection. Last but not least is the restaurant itself. A decently sized menu that is somewhat vegetarian friendly. While there was nothing wrong with the dish I chose, I would likely try something else next time, maybe one of the salads. WOW! What a find! This is a great little deli and market that has an extensive menu of sandwiches and foods of my heritages. Great stuff. I had the lamb gyro that was excellent. The baklava was a super generous portion washed down with a nice cod Croatian beer. The market is well stocked too with breads of rye, black and others and cans of Riga sprats that are delicious, even frozen pirogies. This place is worth the visit. Great service and staff. Placed an order online, received confirmation number & text alerts that the order went through, as well as funds pulled from bank. Husband drove the 20 minutes to pick up the order for a Birthday party. When he got there they said they didn't get the order. They then couldn't issue a refund. Told us to call the website provider THEY USE for their orders. We called them, they told us they couldn't take care of it and to call the store back. Tried calling the store and no answer. Imagine that. Nightmare order with no refund and no resolution. Disputing with bank and won't ever be back there again. Do not recommend. The lady on the phone from the store when I initially called after the issue was absolutely no help at all either. $40 out the window. read more

The store is clean and well stocked with Turkish/Balkan grocery items both canned, packaged and frozen. We went there looking for fresh baked borek and bread but these are new owners as of our visit 6/2019 and are not doing any cooking of meals or breads yet. However, they said they are anxiously awaiting permits and kitchen machinery to start that up again. If you are looking for fresh food or baked items, call first to see if they have them. Friendly. Stopped in for hot dogs for 4th of July grill out and the clerk went over all the types of franks they had and carried my groceries to the car for me. Purchased some foot long hot dogs from a butcher in New Jersey and they tasted amazing. Store workers have offered to carry my groceries to my car every time I've gone in carrying my babe. Usually, my husband and myself would get fries for a side, but they're fried in coconut oil and husband says that's not very good. So we skipped the fries and got the salad, which was nice, chopped, with fresh grated parmesan and a side of Caesar salad dressing that definitely had anchovy. (Husband says he did not get any dressing for his salad). The gyro itself was massive. The pita was nice and fresh, as were the veggies. Sadly, the gyro meat had zero flavor.... Essentially no seasoning whatsoever. Also, it was not cooked on the grill, which is fine, but could've used a quick pan-sear to give it a little crisp on one side. The grocery aspect of the store had much to offer, so we will definitely be back to further investigate. read more

This is a haven for Eastern European/Mediterranean grocery items an deli items. I love Greek food and similar cuisine and found many things that are in those categories. The Gyros are particularly good as well as the salad. The bakery has some of the best cake I have ever had. They carry some meats and some canned items (dolmathes), pickles etc. very friendly staff and clean atmosphere. I highly recommend this place and encourage people to try it. read more
