After sorting out some dinner it was close to 9pm before we decided to sort out some accomodation. Two unanswered phone calls to caravan parks and we gave the Comfort Inn a call, and Susan answered straight away. Although the check in desk was slated to close at 9, she was more than happy to organise us two rooms and hang back to check us in. Upon arriving we found the whole motel clean tidy and up to date. Over the years I have done extensive travelling for business both across Australia and overseas, and. I would have to say walking into my room reminded me of walking into a room in a Marriott or similar hotel across the United States. My Dad, who by his own admission is a picky old coot, was extremely impressed with not only the quality of the fit out but the cleanliness and obvious upkeep of the facilities. I would highly recommend this motel to anyone looking for a one night stop or an extended stay in the area. I will certainly be heading back with wife in tow for a quiet getaway ASAP!

Sovereign Park Motor Inn
Thoroughly enjoyed an overnight stay at the Sovereign Park Motor Inn…read more A last minute booking made it necessary to call the hotel to make reservation for family room. The friendly staff member on night duty were most obliging and was able to provide a most suitable second floor room at a discounted price. The room was very comfortable and included microwave, toaster and tea and coffee making facilities. The room was very clean and had the softest large white towels I have seen in any previous hotel experience. Also available for dining needs are a restaurant and cafe both providing extended service hours. We chose to select from the room service menu and the meals were delivered promptly by very friendly staff. The children loved their ham and pineapple pizza and were delight with the specially created ice-cream desert which came with snakes, smarties and crushed chic mint cookies. The adults selected a pulled pork with spicy barbecue sauce and coleslaw pizza which was perfect with the cab merlot selected from the quite large wine list. The breakfast menu is varied and has some really interesting selections including breakfast fruit crumble. As the children wanted to take full advantage of the beautiful poof we chose a cold breakfast of cereal and bread to toast. The servings of bread were 3 slices and not the usual 2. The pool area is covered and warm in winter. The under water coloured lights create ambiance even in daylight. As well as a main pool area there are additional pools sectioned off and included are a shallower young children's area with water feature spouts and a large spa pool. All in all our stay was wonderful and we will most certainly return!!

Gorgeous!!! If you…read moreare looking for an elegant night out in Ballarat, this is the place! The restaurant is in a beautiful conservatory area and it's just magnificent. We were there for a girlfriend get-together and the service and food were great. We had the pork bellies and the seafood fettuccine. Both were perfectly prepared. It's a little pricey, about $40 per place and sides are ordered separately, but for a special night out - worth it!

I know it's picky but a lot of places, even smaller cafes, are using metal re-useable straws and I thought that somewhere as wonderful and elegant as Craig's would be up to date on this. Fantastic conference venue…read more I visited for event only and did not use accommodation so this review is for facility only . I was surprised to see how big this Mercure is. There's a big carpark on site, a small lake, 2 conference facilities separate to the main building and a few more within the main building. There's also spa house on site. Sitting in the lobby and conference room I was pleased to see how bright and open the facilities are. There's generous Windows and wrap around verandah with seatings to enjoy the outdoor. There's a cafe/ restaurant on site too called Billy's. I thought the place had a 'mini resort' vibe going for it. Although can't comment on the accommodation. The furnishing was old school grand, but clean and dos not feel outdated. Definitely looks better than the pictures. I would suggest this venue to be considered if you are looking for a conference venue in the area. Even accomodation although you might need to find out a bit more about that part.

The high ceilings and floor boards in the large open space dining room makes for a noisy dining experience, but the hustle and bustle works pretty well here. The menu is pretty fancy for a country pub - there is the obligatory parma and steak, but other than it's all unknown territory here. Plenty of odes to local produce. I veered away from my usual pasta selection at the pub, as it was an unusual combination of mussels, fennel, pineapple, mint, coconut and lime sauce. Did see another punter take it up and looked to be enjoying himself! Our table opted for local trout & smoked salmon terrine, French style Shepard's pie and the sirloin steak. All very fine and delicious choices! Some lovely and observant staff, great selection of craft beers on tap. The function rooms look stunning, there's also accommodation available. Definitely worth a try!!
