I went in here after leaving Rooms to go. I called to ask if they had any desks for a home office and the person who answered the phone and said yes I came in here and the woman who answered the phone showed me a desk. It wasn't the color or the size that I wanted, but I did ask him where the bathroom is and she pointed to the bathroom and said the other desks are over there. I'll meet you over there. I went to the bathroom and then came out and waited about five minutes for her and she never came back. As I was leaving, I took a look around. I think they had a total of three desks and one of them was the price of a Pottery barn desk so if I'm going to spend that kind of money, I'd rather just go to pottery barn read more

Well, the chairs finally arrived and two had broken legs. After numerous calls with no real response these were picked up to be replaced and finally after a total of six, replaced. We noticed that one was not level on one leg and found one slider was defective! Seriously, these chairs were not worth the cost. read more

I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews (yes I read them), but I've always had great experiences at Ballard! Recently we returned to the store for an outdoor purchase and have been very happy with our choices in color and construction. The materials are sturdy and the quality is wonderful! We have several BD mirrors in our home, which are beautiful and unique. The quality truly is great, You get what you pay for! We had two great customer service reps at the town center location, I believe the one is Paula and unfortunately I cannot remember the other lady. Both of these women were helpful with answering my questions and with finding the items. read more

I've received a gazillion Ballard Design catalogs, ordered a few things but This was first ever storefront experience... It's awesome that customers can now walk in and see and touch products, especially for custom orders n fabrics. Pleasant staff, nice store.. But for me personally..total let down. Absolutely the worst after the sale service I have ever experience. My special order piece was over 2 months late, not a single person I spoke to said they were responsible for follow up on current or back orders; in fact I was told it was their policy not to follow up or track orders. Amazing I can buy a $200 chair from rooms to go and I get constant updates but on an $1800 chair from Ballard not their job. My wife and I ordered the Baldwin couch and love seat around a month ago. At time or purchase we were told it would ship on august 1st and we would get delivery (which is costing me over $300) within a few days. Sounds good. So a week ago we get an email stating it was delayed and now won't ship until August 7th. Ok that happens no big deal. This morning we wake to another email now saying it won't ship until Aug 21st. No explanation just an email letting us know and telling us we can cancel if we want. Quite the solution. No discount for the inconvenience. No waving of the crazy delivery fee after spending $3000 on furniture. Nothing. I emailed the customer service rep as the email also suggested if we had any questions. The response was equally as annoying. A list of excuses was all I received along with them now saying in addition to it now shipping until August 21sr it will be a FEW WEEKS for actually delivery after that! Not a few days. No solutions. Nothing. We were told the Baldwin was their best seller and most popular set. Imagine if I would have ordered something they don't sell a lot of. Sad thing is we we need to furnish and decorate our entire home. We were taking measurements and photos of our home and supposed to meet with their design expert at the retail location to discuss decor ideas and more than likely make additional purchases. Not happening. I will never shop at Ballard design again and plan to cancel the sofa purchase. I can go to pottery barn, place a new order through them, and probably still get it faster than through Ballard. Very disappointed. I will say the retail staff was friendly and helpful. I invested in some lovely swivel gliders from this location and unfortunately have to return them due to faulty bearings that have leaked bearing grease all over an area rug. The company did pay for cleaning of the rug, which I appreciate, but the chairs are doing it again and they've offered to allow a return of the items. So far, so good, except that every email I send takes 2-4 days (or more) to get a response from a product specialist (note this is an issue at the corporate level, not the Jacksonville location). I've been attempting to arrange pick up of the faulty chairs since January 4 and I haven't been able to get them to confirm the pick up has even been ordered. The corporate customer care division may be overwhelmed following the holidays, but it is disappointing nonetheless. read more

Ballard Designs as a company has been around since the early 1980's. They are typically known for their catalogs, but they branched out to retail stores in the past few years. Lucky for Jacksonville, we are the home to one of only two retail stores in the country. The style at Ballard is definitely European casual but still elegant. The prices are competitive and I personally feel the place has more personality than its surrounding competitors (i.e. Pottery Barn). We just bought our dining room table here. We bought the floor model and received an amazing discount from the manager. We didn't even ask for it! It was terrific. So for those of you who are seeking a little European elegant flair to your decor, beeline it to Ballard. read more

Ballard Designs has beautiful furniture but the worse customer service of any company I have ever experienced. We bought an expensive piece of furniture. It came with multiple damages. They indicated no problem and picked up the damaged one and sent a new one. The piece on the second delivery had so many damages that the truck crew did not want to even unload it. The people in the store are very nice but have no authority to do anything. They told me I had to discuss refund with their corporate dispute center. Of course after leaving three messages with their dispute center no one called me back. I finally just reported this to American Express and they credited the large payment. I finally get a call back from Ballard indicating that it would take them three to four weeks to process a refund. I told them not to bother American Express is handling. Then a month later I get a notice from American Express that Ballard challenged the credit as the furniture was delivered. Luckily I have in writing from Ballard that the furniture was not delivered and have sent that to American Express. Ballard as a company could care less about the customer and I would not shop there ever again. It's almost dishonest telling American Express that the furniture was delivered and challenging the credit. Consumer beware. read more

Bought a new house and purchased several pieces at their store in Jacksonville. Their shipping charges are outrageous. It works out to be about 10% of the price of the item....so several hundred dollars for shipping only on a hutch I purchased. OK, but one item I ordered was backordered and so I waited and waited. Finally called the store only to find out where it was. Guess what - it was in the backroom waiting to be picked up but nobody called me to tell me when it came in! Way to go on the customer service. When I went to pick it up, finally, they apologized that I fell thru the cracks! How about having a computer systems that can track this stuff and lets the customer know when their item comes in...or maybe the salesperson that sells the item can keep track of the order until it is complete. Sheesh. While they are very friendly and helpful in the store, in person, once that order is placed they could care less. read more

I had a very unpleasant experience while trying to shop in Ballards Design yesterday. All the sales associates were very unhelpful and acted as if I was bothering them when I asked them a question. When I finally did find something I wanted to purchase with a gift certificate I was told by the manager that I would not be able to use the gift certificate in my email (scanned on my phone) unless I had printed copy of the gift certificate. She kept saying it's printed at the bottom of the certificate. The manager had a printer sitting right there while we were talking ..I asked if I could forward to her and she said no it had to be from my printer ?????? I informed her I had traveled from Orlando to Jacksonville and it would be impossible for me to travel home and return to purchase the item. She said you could order on line. Which I did when I arrived home but there was a $15.98 shipping charge when I ordered it online which the manager FAILED to tell me while I was in the store. To sum up this very long unpleasant experience at Ballards ....the sales associates were unfriendly....unhelpful and preoccupied on the phone to help the customers and the manager was also preoccupied on the phone and did not offer to help me in any way.
