The Hillcrest Center is part of the Park Districts facility, tucked up on the hill. I had never been there before, and there is construction, and other challenges to getting to the facility, such as the entrance is on a side street, not on Hillcrest itself. But you will be glad you make the trip. Classes there are put on by the Conejo Recreation and Park District, and include classes for young musicians, and the opportunity to also review an art exhibit on premises. Sam Herbert as Evan, Carly Shukiar as Patrice and Antonia Vivino as Lucy had exceptional voices and terrific stage presence. Yet, along with these key roles, every single cast member could sing, dance, emote, act, and wow the audience with their talent. What my boyfriend and I continue to say to one another is, "Wow,,, the!se are only kids,,,, young people,,,what will they be like as adults? They can't get much better than this?" If you want an evening of high energy, talent, joy, tears and top-notch entertainment, THIS IS THE SHOW TO GO TO! We went on opening night and loved it so much that we plan on going to see "13" again on closing night! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SHOW TO ALL!!!

It…read morewas billed as someone in a costume will come out, engage the crowd, and there will be a sing along etc. The lady came in a costume, spoke to the audience for maybe 10 seconds, and then just played the movie! That's it. I basically paid $120 for my wife and kids to drive 1 hour to see the movie, when I could have played it at my house. My wife calls me, furious. So I call the box office...they told me as a 1 time courtesy, they will refund me in 7 business days. It's been almost a month. I received nothing. So I called them just now only to be told I won't be getting a refund. The rep even acknowledged there were a lot of angry people. I encourage everyone to do a chargeback on their cards if you attended. It was straight up theft. $120 to play the little Mermaid Movie. And then the box office lied to me about the refund. This is how they billed it " Make a splash with an unforgettable, family-friendly event where you become part of the story! Sing-Along Live! brings Disney's beloved classic The Little Mermaid to the big screen with on-screen lyrics, audience participation moments, and a wave of musical fun for all ages. This event will be hosted live by our costumed Mermaid Princess." When in reality they just played the movie. Shame on the production company, and shame on the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza for letting these people scam everyone.

I must say, the theatre we were in to see the show was veryyyyy comfortable. The seats are spacious and soft and comfy to sit in. The theatre was smaller than I expected, but still fit so many people. Lighting and sound are great. Bar service is easy too, there were 3 different bars to choose from so we were able to head to the ones with the shortest lines. Drinks are a bit pricey though. Wonderful show, so much fun!!!! Last year our tickets were in the Founder's Circle area, and that part of the venue is amazing! It is pretty chill and if you want to sit outside of the venue seating area, there are options. Getting things from the concession stands are easy and hassle-free. The people that work at the Fred Kavli Theater are so nice and go above and beyond. Some are paid and some are volunteers. Last year I lost a piece of a ring and Kelly F. found it! I got to see her again this past week (July 2026) and thanked her again for going above and beyond. (I also sent emails to several folks at "toaks.org" email addresses to mention Kelly and two other great ushers for their help...I never heard back from anyone.) For parking, you might be able to find something on the street. Otherwise, it is about $16 cashless (credit/debit only) to park. There are a variety of show types that play at this venue. I really love the locations, the ease of getting in/out, and the seating options. I look forward to my next concert early in 2027!

She absolutely loves it, and the enrichment and growth we've seen in her confidence is just wonderful. I cannot say enough about the owners and staff. They are warm people who clearly enjoy what they do, and put their heart and souls into the kids. Now, 4 years later, at the age of 10, our daughter has been in numerous BTP shows, Annie, Matilda, Shrek, and other performances in front of numerous audiences. It's given her the confidence to be in her school talent shows and get kudos from many of her teachers and classmates on her performances. Beyond the classes she takes with BTP, the value of working on these productions with a team of people to create something bigger than themselves is a lesson in life. The ability to stand in front of an audience with confidence will serve her for many years to come. Cool photo ops all around. They had a trivia game scrolling over the bar which is always fun. Lots of lounge seating great for smaller groups to drink and chat. That being said there were some things I didn't anticipate and wasn't prepared for: -not enough accessible parking very busy for a Friday night. When I arrived at 6:45pm valet parking was already full -no AC in the venue- two ceiling fans. It was unbelievably hot inside. -seating at the tables near the stage requires dinner service and there were 10 adults seated at an 8 ft table. Just impossible. The tables were end to end. No space to move. I was seated between two men and our shoulders were touching and everyone is trying to eat dinner. I was having a panic attack so my friend got us moved. -the meal was ok and so were the drinks. We had to purchase dinner and 2 drink minimum in addition to the price of the concert ticket. I knew this when I made the purchase but had no idea what the food was going to be like. - my meal was blackened Salmon. Which was good but a very small piece of salmon. The garlic mashed potatoes were ok however my veggies weren't steamed they were too hard. The entree was $42. No salad, bread or dessert option. I think this was very pricey for what I received. Despite what bothered me above. I had a great time after we moved our seats away from the stage and got to finish our meal with some elbow room. There isn't a bad seat in the entire venue so I am not sure why they cramped all the tables like they do. The space allows for lots of walking around so you can visit with friends- which I did. The venue is accessibility friendly. The entertainment was amazing and I have to mention all the staff working that night were very accommodating. They checked on me a few times. The staff Zoe, Ryan and Marco were all so very helpful. Including Robin the sound engineer-he was friendly as well. I will return if another act I want to see is playing at The Canyon Club. Now I know what to expect and can plan accordingly.

Before my most recent show, it was a venue I looked forward to visiting. However, it had been a bit of time since I was last at the club and things have changed. Unfortunately, after the show I attended on July 31, I may not be back. Please note that this review is for the venue only, not the show itself. While there is a large parking lot, and parking is free, it was very difficult to find a space. We drove around for about 15 minutes before we were able to see someone leaving a parking space that we could grab. On the day of the concert, the temperature was 100° F outside, or possibly a bit higher. When we arrived at the venue, we found that it does not have refrigerated air conditioning - just some fans. It was uncomfortably hot inside. If I had known this would be the case, I'd have brought a portable personal fan. It's hard to believe that a venue that holds up to 1,200 people does not have legit air conditioning. For those that would like a seat, you have to purchase dinner along with your concert ticket. The dinner selections are very limited and pricey. There is no longer drink service at the tables, so you must head to the bar for drink orders. Since the tables are packed so tightly together, this is not the most convenient situation for patrons. Also, if you use a credit card for your purchases, you will be charged an extra service fee. The bartenders Gus, Zack, and Lindsay were great. They provided friendly service and were a lot of fun. I felt bad that they had to endure the uncomfortable hot working conditions while taking care of everyone. I rarely leave a one-star review. It is really a shame that the club owners don't value their guests and artists to keep the venue comfortable. For the price of tickets, food, and drinks, we really deserve a better experience.
