We were able to walk to our pick up point in a few minutes from our hotel. They will drop you off back in Melbourne too at one of the designated stops. Over half of our tour group were people who lived in Melbourne. The Yarra Valley is very close to Melbourne, maybe about an hours drive. You get to sample 4 wineries: Punt Road, Balgownie Estate, Yering Farm, and Chandon. All of the wineries have their own distinct flavors so you'll taste the rainbow of reds, whites, and dessert varietals. You'll stop by for lunch at Balgownie estate and will be able to preselect your meal choice on the bus. I ordered the curried salmon which was very tasty. Of course wine comes with lunch. I'm not sure if Australian Wine Tour is able to secure special pricing for your wine purchases at all of the wineries however, I do know you will get special discounted pricing though the tour at Balgownie Estate. I believe it was 10% off the retail price and 15% if you purchase more than 12 bottles. A very good deal indeed. We purchased a few bottles of the 2014 sparkling shiraz which is quite unusual to see in the States. Very crisp flavor and not dry at all like a brut. Punt Road and Yering Farm were smaller wineries. The apple cider proved to be a hit with our tour group at Yering Farm. I would have loved to bring some of that home but unfortunately that would have weighed me a ton + some hefty baggage fees to get it back home. I can see how that cider can be so addicting. Also got a few bottles of the Yering 2006 cabernet. Chandon is the last stop. I found Chandon to be rather commercialized. Large crowds in their tasting room (it's a tasting building, actually) and industrial scale production. Of course they're one of the big players in the wine business. Unfortunately, you only get to sample 1 flute of sparkling wine there from their many varietals. But, the good thing is if you haven't bonded with your tour mates by now, all of that drinking will certainly have everyone in a festive move. Take a swig from your flute and pass the samplings around. You're all friends now. If you're not big on swapping spit with your tour mates, the tasting area also offers several sparkling wines for tasting at just $5. Highly recommend this tour if you want to venture out to the Yarra valley.

This was one attraction i was not going to miss then when i was in melbourne. It was even better when i found the booking office and bus pick up was right next door to my hostel! Our tour guide was hilarious and gave us loads of facts about the programme and how its filmed. They also played the 1st ever episode of neighbours which i had never seen! We werent allowed access to the interior sets but we were shown around the outside sets and given plenty time to wander around and take photos. Then it was back on the bus to see the real ramsay street where the houses are. Obviously its not called ramsay street and i was amused to see the ramsay street sign on the bus with us so we can pose with it. I was quite shocked at how small the street it - it looks huge on tv. We spent time taking pictures and posinh with the sign. Then it was back on the bus and taken back to the bookinbg office where we met kim valentine who plays libby kennedy. So you decide at the last minute that a weekend in the Yarra Valley is in order and surprise,…read moresurprise all of the apartments, B&B's and hotels in this hugely touristed area booked up yonks ago. What are you to do? In my case, a cursory call to the Healesville Tourist Park was the answer. An unglamorous but friendly and accommodating place just outside of the Healesville township - arguably one of the best places to stay in the Yarra Valley - where a cabin for two with en suite and fully functioning kitchen will set you back a very reasonable $85 a night and you can spend your hotel savings on a bottle - or five - of local vino. There's a pool - don't get too excited - which is blink-and-you'll-miss-it small, but a pool nonetheless and for little ones there's a playground to keem 'em occupied while mum and dad get tanked on some of the Yarra Valley's invariably good wine. Staff are friendly and, as mentioned, hugely accomodating and there's even a Healesville Tourist Park mascot in the form of a very chirpy parrot. For a cheap - or last minute - weekend away in the Yarra Valley the Healesville Tourist Park is a Godsend.

The gentlemen (using the term VERY loosely) at the counter advised us in no uncertain terms that the 'mix up' was completely our own fault, not their problem, and if we didn't settle down that the police would be called. Understandably, with nowhere to go (as the area was booked out with an event), a car full of tired people, and food for self catering accommodation for the entire weekend, we were somewhat upset. A subsequent and very polite letter to management making them aware of our experience was met with complete silence. We can only laugh at the experience now in its comparison to en episode of Fawlty Towers!

Went on the Great Ocean Road Eco-tour from Melbourne. My guide and driver was Camille, who has an…read moreamicable personality. The coach arrived at Pan Pacific punctually at 8am. I was the only Asian in the tourist group, so before I boarded the coach, she confirmed with me that I'm from Singapore and could understand English well. Throughout the journey, she introduced various landmarks and history behind them to us. She also took the initiative to take photos for us. Enough time was given for us to explore various scenic spots. Before arriving at the next destination, she also explained in detail the kind of terrain and environment to expect, so that we could self-assess, based on our individual physical fitness level, if it's suitable to participate in a certain activity. On the way, she played a wide selection of music to make the lengthy ride more enjoyable. It must be physically demanding to take care of so many tourists and driving at the same time. I'll give her five stars out of five for her exceptional professionalism.

We rode in a very nice tour bus to Maru animal sanctuary where you could get up close with kangaroos and koalas. There were other animals, such as dingos, peacocks, emus and reptiles there as well. Next we drove to Phillip Island. We went to the very end of the road on the nature park where we could see the Nobbies and wild kangaroos. Unfortunately the tour bus wasn't able to stop since we needed to get to the penguins parade. At the penguin center, there was a viewing area. We didn't pay for the upgraded viewing area. In the general area we were further back but quite a few people vacated closer seats early in the viewing so moving up was easy. The penguins came out of the ocean in small groups and there was a lapse of time between exiting groups. If you want to view the penguins up close, you will get better views from the walkways to the platforms. Our tour guide/bus driver Peter was amazing. He was like a driving encyclopedia of knowledge. His commentary was super interesting and he was helpful and friendly.

But this tour is so much more than riding a bike around the city. Michelle, our tour guide, was professional, but more than that, her love and knowledge of this city shines throughout the tour. She was also extremely accommodating when we expressed interest in visiting Queen Victoria Market. Not only did she lead the tour there in addition to many amazing off the beaten path areas, she brought us through the market pointing out a number of things we would not have been aware of - a very special treat! While Melbourne is a bit hilly, Michelle kept a pace that was easy to maintain even for novice riders. If you visit Melbourne, you MUST book a tour with Melbourne by bike.
