This place will better deal you in a second! Called to get prices for ordered--called back to confirm and they said no. DO NOT GO HERE!

Walking in…read moreis a total sensory overload in the best way possible--rows of technicolor treats, piñatas hanging from the ceiling, and that iconic "Batman" guarding the aisles. The Layout & Vibe It is a massive warehouse-style shop filled with every kind of candy imaginable. They have a huge selection of American classics and imported Mexican favorites, but their homemade line is where they really shine. * The "Batman" Rule: You can't miss the life-sized Batman statue--just a heads-up that there's a "Do Not Touch" sign on him! * Organization: The shelves are packed with everything from bulk lollipops and "Glow Pops" to stacks of de la Rosa Mazapán. What to Grab * The Classics: You have to get the de la Rosa--it's a staple for a reason. * The "San Antonio" Specials: They are famous for their Chamoy pickles (look for the Big Tex Dill Pickle in Chamoy), Picositas belts, and those spicy tamarindo chili balls. * Party Needs: Beyond the candy, they have a ton of party supplies and authentic piñatas if you're prepping for an event. Pro-Tips for Your Visit * Parking: They have a dedicated customer parking lot, so you don't have to stress about finding a spot on the street. * Timing: They are open Monday-Saturday (9:00 AM - 6:30 PM) and Sunday (10:00 AM - 4:00 PM). * The "Sugar Rush": Be prepared to leave with way more than you planned. It's hard to say no when everything is so well-priced and unique! Whether you're a local or just passing through, this is a San Antonio institution that you have to experience at least once. #AlamoCandy #SanAntonioEats #MexicanCandy

When Fiesta Week comes to town lots of unexpected things come with it. Some good and some bad…read more Sometimes the good outweighs the bad, some times the opposite can be true. Given this small fact you never, ever know what to expect from the longest parade in town, "The Flambeau Night Parade." Rather than base my review on this year, which pardon the pun was a complete wash out, I will give you my observations where it has gone and where it might need to gone in the future. I will offer some suggestions to you, to maximize your experience there and to them, to make it a much more successful and concise event for all. To you: 1.) Go early. Parking is insane here. If you have gotten here by 5 PM, it might be too late, as by then traffic is at a stand still. The hot spot areas are by The San Antonio Museum area and anywhere downtown, particularly Commerce Street. Get here early but be prepared for congestion and high parking fees either way. 2.) Travel light. I see families lugging Igloo Rollers the size of Montana! And then you see them purchasing beer and food items at vendors. Remember, pack and carry stuff that you are going to use! Period. No need in packing items that you will not use there. 3.).Keep it simple. Bring drinks and food that you know will be more expensive there at the event. Fiesta events while fun for all are almost always pricey. Buy items that you know are only specific to this event for example, Funnel cakes. It's okay to splurge, within reason, on this occasion but why buy an $8.00 taco when down the street you can buy the same thing for $1.25? Have some sense of abandon but still have above all sense! 4.) We know that this city has very attractive people, however don't dress for other people. Dress comfortably, after all if you will be in a seat for the next 4 hours. While it's nice to rock your Prada or Rattlesnake boots by 10 pm it makes more sense to be in comfortable clothes as well as footwear. 5.) Above all dress and plan according to the elements. That's why it is important to look at what the weather forecast is that day. We live in San Antonio and the weather changes at the drop of a dime. Stuff some sunblock or an umbrella in your bag before you leave in case it rains or the sun is blazing down on you. Be quick and flexible to any conditions as they change as the parade draws on. And to them: 1.) Start the show earlier. This allows the people on Broadway Street to catch the last bit of it and leave which frees the streets from inevitable gridlock, especially the highways. 2.) You need more porta potties! You can't expect thousands of spectators to gorge on food and drink and not use the facilities at some point in the night. Most of the traffic here is due to the long lines to use the restroom. Having more porta potties will cut down the blockage of aisles, which has the potential to be a logistical nightmare for security. 3.) Not to sound elitist but you need to pick floats that add to the experience of the parade. Why have thirty floats of the same thing. The parade should tell a story or at the least have a flow to it. 4.) The city is growing and shows know signs of slowing down. You need to encourage people to use the Park and Ride Service or at least offer it in a way that will not exclude families and their carry on items. 5.) While I do admire the work our great police force does, especially at this event, they have to do more then direct traffic. They need to be more proactive in quelling situations. In an event that celebrates mass partying they need to be mindful of people that are drinking too much or are being a public nuisance. In most cases a silly thing like confetti on a unsuspecting spectator can turn into a fight all too easy. Fiesta Week is a great occasion to start new traditions with friends and families. However, the Flambeau Night Parade should give you reason to pause. Weigh the costs first, then decide to do it or not to do it.

The waving of the camera like we are on waves did not add to the experience, but rather was pretty annoying. Spriester looked like he didn't really want to be there. The parade itself is OK, just crappy commentary.
