Ballroom. Dang it. I got hooked. I was a happy go lucky Lindy swing dancer, I love Balboa, and I would have liked to have mastered Collegiate Shag. I've learned there are dances that become age-wise prohibitive. Thus I am a student of Foxtrot, which allows me to indulge my beloved swing music as I dance. Foxtrot? For me its like the hockey to figure skating transition in the movie, "The Cutting Edge" (c. 1992), a taming of the shrew sort of tale wherein a hard luck, talented hockey player finds that figure skating ain't for wussies. Ballroom Addiction? Brain Abduction is more like it. What a wonderful place! The ballroom floor is indeed competition legal and is a "sprung" or cushioned floor, a floor for athletes who will train for hours. There are two other studios at BA with the same flooring. BA hosts a full time dance master and manager who discovered ballroom AFTER becoming one of Bruce Lee's favorite sparring partners in Wing Chun. That's Ron Yee. He's a lifelong student of body mechanics and music. Ron was chosen by Julianne Hough's parents as a trainer for teenage Julianne before her folks packed Julianne off to Europe for classical dance instruction. Ron is a relatively hidden gem in this city. Myself, I scrub the toilets at BA on a volunteer basis, not the only one to do so, because Rosemary, the owner, conducts BA as a gift to the dance community. So I figure if she's not making a red cent from this studio, how 'bout I help out and cut her loss by the janitor's fee? Rosemary is a philanthropist through dance. The floor and studio rental rates at BA are ridiculously low. I see a couple of Yell reviews that complain about dust bunnies in the studio, not much of a sin there, and maybe thats a reflection on me as a janitor, but this indicates to me there are people who are political reactionaries, or people who have been barred from BA who wrote negative reviews. Hurt people hurt people. Judge for yourself. Indulge in Ballroom Addiction. Meet the people there. Warning, dance is a tough hobby. Not for wussies. But if you get hooked, it's a positive passion. read more

Yeah this place is crap the owner is a bougie old racist white lady who only cares about money and not the students at her studio. Her son tries to hook up with younger students when he's in the studio. Ballroom Addiction also is known to have a few racist students. I wouldn't go here if you are a person of color or support #BlackLivesMatter. Or do and experience it first hand with fake smiles with racist undertones from the staff. She brags that her floor is competition sized and that's a lie. I can't say this enough- Rosemary is greedy, and does not care about any students that come to the studio beyond how much she can squeeze from them. She encouraged people to come to her studio and dance in the midst of a global pandemic (after other more popular and better run events had cancelled for safety). She's known for hiring unqualified instructors, And Dating her students as well. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. read more

We were staying in Vegas as tourists, and wanted to do some ballroom dancing. Back home in the UK, we had looked at the Dance Addiction website to find good places to dance in Vegas, and had found Dance Addiction. Well, we took the short taxi ride to get to Dance Addiction's Friday night social dance. It was a brilliant experience. The dance floor is top notch, the staff are fabulous, and the people there were very welcoming and friendly. The dance music played was spot on, the dance floor is big and top quality. I'm not sure some of these reviews meet the "relevance" guidelines for Yelp... it has been my experience over the last 3 years that this is an amazing studio. The competition sized dance floor is amazing. It's easy on a dancers joints. The owner and staff are professional, friendly and work with integrity. They are definitely never "all about the money". Although I have not been dancing since the pandemic, I have been meaning to share my experience at Ballroom Addiction. I love this studio. It has a great dance floor and they play the best music at their Friday night dance. Ron Yee is the most knowledgeable and caring dance instructor I have studied with in Las Vegas. not just a great dance party. we arrived from the United Kingdom and decided to try it out on Sept 20th. Our cab for the return journey to our resort hotel on the strip didn't arrive and being from out of town we were a bit worried in how we might get back at 11pm! The owner, Rosemary Sketchley, made incredibly disparaging comments about me and my appearance publicly, and then she threatened my safety over Facebook when I left comments about her harassment on her Facebook page. I'm considering reporting her to the police. People need to know about her. She's not mentally stable. read more
