My 2 year old and I started attending the Rock Center for Dance a few months ago and we love it! We take the Dance with Me class with Ms. Sam and she is a toddler whisperer. My daughter loves her so much she comes back home and wants to pretend she's at dance still. Ms. Sam has a whole bag of props to use with the dances to keep things interesting, from scarves to wands to leis. We learn the basic skills but there's also dances like Mr. Golden Sun which the kids recognize and it's easy for them to follow choreography. It can sometimes get chaotic with 4-5 kids and their parents but we get through it! I'm so happy we joined this studio and that Ms. Sam is my daughter's first introduction to dance. Such an awesome and affordable studio! My 6yo son is here for a breaking class with Eric. He loves his class and can't wait to go every week. Signup was quick and simple. When we were there, we saw a hip hop dance class, and a ballet class in session. There is waiting area with plenty of chairs for parents to wait for kids. Class size is small, which makes it easy for drop-off and pickup. It seems like everyone here, from the receptionist to instructors, love their jobs. We highly recommend this place. read more

The teachers can be strict here. Personally I felt like that is what my daughter needed even (maybe especially?) at 4 years old. I can completely understand why that might feel too overwhelming for some kids. However, some kids really thrive with that kind of structure and strict rules. The expertise of the teachers are not of question, it's how the business is handled. We left for a bit after contention with the owner. We returned because it was what was best for my children for the time. However, immediately upon returning, I asked them to double check the pricing they were giving me, and they reassured me it was correct. However, after they already charged me and I did the numbers, it was incorrect. A second staff member had to look at the numbers, and then they had to correct it. My four year old son was really excited to start dance class. We joined Thursday night at 6:15 and the instructor that night was not very friendly towards the kids. It being his first class, he was really nervous and shy and wasn't sure what to do and she didn't even attempt to get him involved but "escorted" him outside the classroom bc she was afraid he was going to be a distraction. Unfortunate, because their center is really beautiful and clean but the staff is not very welcoming to new members and students. Needless to say, we will be finding another place that is kinder to kids and isn't so rude to new students. Won't be returning ever again. My son was so sad after we left and even apologized saying "I'm sorry mommy. I really wanted to dance. But I was scared." If you don't have compassionate instructors teaching small children, don't offer a class to toddlers and alienate them. read more

We love the Rock!! We did our research and did trials at other studios when we moved to Las Vegas (from California last May). Our daughter immediately loved all the teachers and Miss Quinn during summer train last year. Miss Quinn took the time to talk to her and ask her what her goals were as a dancer. One year later, she still takes the time to talk to her. I love that she and all the rock staff care about their students. I think it's awesome that she gives the opportunity for the older kids to choreograph/mentor the younger kids and the younger kids get to emulate the older kids. Charged me for a class I didn't attend and never said sorry to me. One day I was sitting at home and I received an email that said thanks for the class today and charged me 15 dollars. I called the dance center and Dakota said I didn't pay for the class I went to last week. I was like 'huh??????' I booked all my classes online by using a 20 class package. I cannot book a class without paying for it. She insisted I took 21 classes not 20. So I came to the office the next day, and Dakota is not there, but another two ladies were. After a long investigation, I found out they printed my name on a class which I didn't come at all (doesn't have my initials, all the other classes have my initials and signatures). They gave me a class pass but I refused and got a refund. And they never apologized to me. This case could never happen if : 1. Dakota checked the check-in paper carefully to see that my initials were not there. 2. Dakota called me to check why they have different records with my records BEFORE they charged me. 3. The staff today can say at least one "sorry" to me to admit it's their fault and their negligence. But they didn't, one girl just said "it's your choice to not coming back. There is nothing we can do. I am busy and I have things to do." I was crying and deeply hurt and she couldn't say sorry??? Btw the teachers there are generally good. I love Nay, the hip hop class and I am sorry Nay I don't want to come to that place again because of the terrible staff. Every time I had class with Nay I learned a lot and she makes the class so happy. The Jazz dance teacher Shawn, he is professional at dance but a little bit racist. I told him my English name which is easy for him to remember but he always called me 'China Girl' and called another lady 'Japan' or 'Tokyo'. The studio is always clean and well maintained. They have they biggest selection of adult dance classes and they have your cc on file so you can just sign in and go. What I don't like is that the classes are shorter than most and more expensive than other studios. You can charge me $15 for a class no problem, but as an adult an hour and a half class is needed to get a warm up, barre, and routine in and feel like you're fully getting a great class. read more

My daughter has been attending classes here for about a year now. Prior to coming here, she had lost her love for dance but now she has renewed love of dance. I've attended a handful of workshops here, and some dance performances, and I have to say, Rock Center for Dance is a top notch studio. Dance floors are CLEAN, which is always a plus, since I dance barefoot. The bathrooms are always clean too, and the facility is just REALLY nice. I've interacted with Quinn on a handful of occasions, and she is a treasure. I have seen several of the students perform, and can tell that they are receiving top instruction. I think that's kind of unfair, especially since with the ongoing pandemic, Delta variant numbers rising and constantly changing mask mandates. I dream of being a dancer, and it'll remain in my dreams. I only wish I could have taken classes from a young age so I can be a dancer today. A friend of mine found this place in her research after I had given up on finding a school near my home. This school is amazing. I love their facility, and the variety of dance classes they offer. My first and only class I've taken was for beginner hip hop. I sucked so miserably, and really had difficulty keeping up. It was very similar to the dance classes they offer at the gym where they go through a choreographed routine for a song and keep adding on. I've only been to two other dance schools in my life, the other one being Milennium, and it was similarly formatted. The staff are nice and friendly. I really want to try the jazz class but the beginner class was way too intimidating for me when I observed. Most of the students in the class have some type of dance background, or at least have flexibility. I will just stare into the window like a creep in awe of their abilities... read more

We joined the Rock Family in summer 2020. Our daughter was assessed and put into proper dance class levels for the summer program. She thrived and grew so much in such a short period of time under the guidance of the owner and her amazing team of instructors. She is now in her second year and the progression truly is exponential. She seems challenged in all the right ways and the focus on long term development and technique is obvious. I also like his music choice which helps me enjoy the class more. Im considering taking ballet and hip hop in the future and I'll update my review later. What an EXPERIENCE!!! I have to admit at first I was very nervous coming here. I've never danced before other than a few dance cardio classes at the gym. I wouldn't say that the class is easy, but with lots of FOCUS anyone can do it. I joined the Intro to Contemporary Jazz led by Shawn Hughes on their 3 week into the 8 week program, meeting every monday at 7:30. So, needless to say, they were pretty far ahead of me in terms of technique and choreography. Shawn seemed very aware of the fact that his class has grown, and QUICKLY caught us up without slowing down or taking away time from the others. Shawn made his class fun, full of energy, and most important to me is welcoming to ALL students of ANY LEVEL. I was traveling around the west taking adult drop-in dance classes and I found this place in Vegas. I took Intermediate/Advanced Jazz with a very skinny, petite instructor. She was at the reception desk with the administrator when I arrived and she was very encouraging and personable. The receptionist was sweet and talked me through everything I needed to do as a first time student. The class was pretty good. It wasn't too intimidating for Intermediate students but it did provide a challenge. She helped the advanced students by giving options to do more turns or try across the floor progressions at a quicker tempo. Everyone in the class had something to work on and the instructor gave very positive criticism. The space is beautiful, houses multiple studios and is very neat and clean. There is an awesome vending machine that takes credit card which is a relief because I wasn't used to working out in the dry climate and I really needed a water. I would definitely return and I recommend this studio to any adult looking to continue their dance education. read more

We recently switched to this study because its closer for us. They just moved to this location. The rooms are really nice with large viewing windows. The staff here seems very professional and compassionate. So far things have been nice and we are enjoying the move. The lobby is large enough for parents to watch their children and not feel like we are reading each others forehead wrinkles. Its a simple place with a very stylish look to it. If nothing else it is definitelly worth a try. They teach all of the basics here from tap and ballet, to hip-hop. read more

When I first moved to Vegas from Orlando, the Rock was the first studio I went to for classes. The best class they offer, (and the one I attend whenever I am physically able,) is Shawn Hughes' Int/Adv Lyrical Jazz Class (Tuesdays @ 2pm-3:30pm.) The class normally begins in low lighting, with big, slow stretches to a powerfully invigorating but soothing playlist: part dance, part yoga. He corrects beginner and seasoned dancers alike on their technique and form and challenges us with turns and jumps across the floor, weekly. He also builds on his choreography throughout the week, so if you attend his class again, you have the opportunity to perfect the combination. Each week I leave absolutely destroyed and dripping with sweat but simultaneously invigorated! And even though I am always sore the next day, that's only because he pulls the best dancer out of you; tweaking angles and extension and making sure you "get your money's worth!" He's a bit soft spoken, but he'll yell to extract the emotion he needs from you and encourages his class to dance 'with' each other and remain in a formation to emulate a real dance audition. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best Jazz class in Vegas! -- I originally started taking ballet regularly with Suzanne, but found the class to be unwelcoming and too formal. I once asked a question about a step I'd not heard of before and got the feeling I should have kept my mouth shut (teacher and students alike.) I also sampled Don's ballet class, but didn't care for his more contemporary style. However, if you are seeking a rigid classic ballet class or love contemporary ballet, both classes and their teachers are excellent. I then tried Ken Ball's tap class. He is an excellent, patient teacher with a vibrant energy and a class of devoted regulars. However, it is a rhythm tap class, not Broadway style and I found it difficult to take in my Miller & Ben heels. (I have not tried the newer Ken Ball's class for comparison.) I mistook the Rock's "Heels" class for a Broadway Style class as well...big mistake!! The class is designed for 4in+ "stripper" heels (not LaDuca's) and while teacher was great and the choreo was sexy, the class moved quickly and I was definitely out of place! I finally found my place in the Broadway Jazz class (now taught by Taylor Bradley,) and he is just fabulous! I love the music he chooses for his warmups, across the floors and combos and I look forward to my next opportunity to go back. read more

My daughter's both started Jr Ballet classes here this week and they loved it! They came home wanting to show us everything they learned. The teachers were very nice to them. My girl got enrolled in the middle of the semester, she is in a class with no rehearsal. They have good instructors. However, they put our class's instructor to another class (her class end up with another teacher) one time without notification. Another time the substitute teacher was late 10 to 15 mins late. And all kids and parents waiting outside. She left the class the class on time (without making up the late time). I heard this place is good, but I am disappointed. They need to show some respect on my kid's class, and I hope they can be more friendly read more

This review is specifically for the beginner ballet 4 you adult class. It's AWESOME! The instructor, Sandra, is so much fun and so educated at the same time. Class size varies week to week. Sometimes there's 6 students, this past week the room was full..maybe 14 or 15. I prefer smaller classes because I get more individual attention, but it's great to see other adults coming! As someone who is really getting into ballet, I want to go multiple times a week. PLEASE MAKE ANOTHER CLASS TIME! I bet a lot of people would come on a Monday or Friday. The only other thing is the studio room the class is usually held in doesn't have a viewing area. Not a huge deal, but I wish I could bring friends to watch and hopefully recruit them into ballet life. ;) read more

Just had my first class at The Rock Center for Dance. I tried their new tai chi class on this rainy day and was so glad I did. The instructor was super helpful with my posture/breathing/form, gave me a lot of special attention, and was just a super cool attentive person. I will be back for more tai chi at this beautiful and modern dance studio. I also want to try out the adults hip hop class and maybe learn a wedding dance if they offer that. This is my favorite dance studio in Vegas for adult level classes. I dance mainly for cardio health and to maintain proper posture/flexibility due to my desk job, but I appreciate that I get the same professional technical training that a pro dancer preparing for a show on the Strip would get. I am partial to their evening classes in Jazz, Hip Hop, and Ballet. My one small gripe is that they don't offer Contemporary and Modern in the evening, but finding an adult contemporary/modern class anywhere is always challenging. My five year old daughter did a drop in class to see if she would like it. She has never had any classes before or been in a group activity. She loved it. The staff is so helpful and caring. They were extremely helpful. The studio is clean and all the areas are kept up. My daughter was so nervous but her instructor was friendly and put her at ease ,she was smiles the whole class. The whole environment is very upbeat. The reception area was very helpful and they even let you borrow tap shoes if your child doesn't have any. read more
