This place was awful. My niece was already devastated by the loss of her mother and then she had to deal with the funeral home from HELL!. They (Angel Pate) took her money to retrieve my sisters body from New Orleans (she cancelled our appointment at the office and insisted we meet at Waffle House) This was the moment we should of run. But we were emotionally drained and just wanted to find a place to carry out my sisters last request. We went to the Law Office (Baloney owns one that is connect to the Reception Hall that is connected to the Funeral Home) we paid our $300 so they would retrieve my sister. A week and half later they still have not retrieve her. Every time I spoke to Angel Pate (funeral director) she had another excuse on why she has not taken care of the matter. We finally fired her and requested she refund us the money that was giving to retrieve my sister. She has refused to return the money. This place is pure evil do NOT deal with them. Awful, awful people. To take advantage of people when they are dealing with such a loss is horrible! Again do not use Baloney Funeral Home or have any dealings with Angel Pate! read more

I feel Angel is a scammer. She was not caring at all for the fact that I just lost my mother. Made an appointment to pay for the pickup of my mom's body from the Coroners then canceled after my hour and half drive saying she had to renew her license instead. I was 15 minutes away so she said just meet me in front of Waffle House and she would collect the money. I met her only because it was such a long drive. I told her I didn't feel comfortable giving her money at a Waffle House. She then said she had a guy in route with a check she already made out to collect my mom's body. I told her I'd only pay if we could go to the funeral home. I finally felt guilty enough and paid the $300 at the law office they are connected with by the funeral home. After a week and half I find out from the cornors office that she didn't pick my mom's body up and now she REFUSES to give my $300 back after I told her I am going some where else. She said she would mail it at first then said she wanted me to come in to offer her condolences and my refund but I got there 45 mins early and she sat with her back to me with an attitude about me being early then said I can't get the check unless I sign a paper. I said I'm not signing anything you offered to mail it, so just mail it and left the office without the check. Called later to see if the check was indeed going to be mailed and she HUNG UP ON ME. Left a message to call me back, never did. My husband called her and she told him she will not mail my money back. The money was the coroners fee. Now, I need that money for the other funeral home. They of course are taking care of my mom and said I can pay once I get this refund. But I feel I won't get the refund. I should have gone with my instincts and known Angel was a scam artist. She never planned on taking care of my mom just wanted my money. DO NOT USE THIS FUNERAL HOME! read more

They were in charge of my sister's remains. They received the money upfront. They never picked up her body and didn't return the money. They were extremely rude. This place is a scam. No one should use them. read more

I was told over the telephone by Angel Baloney that I would be contacted prior to cremation. I wanted to have a final moment of meditation over the loss of my father. However, this did not happen. Instead, I was contacted today to ensure I'd be home to receive the "cremains". Of course, I was shocked that the cremation had already been performed (sometime yesterday). When asked why I did not receive a phone call, Carl Baloney said: "Now what would the purpose of that be?! We don't do that." I informed him that this was the wrong response. I told him that if his staff tells clients they are going to do something, and don't -- that they need to be informed to not make an empty promise they can't fulfil. ESPECIALLY because we are talking about a sensitive time in someone's life when they've just lost someone. Besides, it is no business of Carl Baloney's what the purpose is. Maybe I wanted to light off eighty-one fireworks, open that 50 year-old bottle of Whiskey, or sail my ship at that moment! Whatever it was, it would have simply been no business of Carl's. The purpose was personal, obvious to most, but not to him or his staff. Baloney Funeral Home was referred to us by the Hospice facility where dad passed. One may want to do a little research prior to accepting a referral, but with the loss itself being so upsetting, it's difficult to think clearly. Angel just called me back to try to cover her tracks while writing this review. She said she was "doing that as a courtesy and she never does courtesies". So, in other words, I am supposed to feel badly for asking for something that I should never have asked for in the first place: A courtesy. This, mind you, was all delivered in a less than articulate fashion. It was painful to hear her crawfish for words and quite pathetic to think this is a representative that deals with people who have lost loved ones on a daily basis. I'm hugely underwhelmed. However, the one star (could not issue none) goes to the speed at which they secured the Death Certificates, the efficient delivery of the cremains and the very kind person (who had an excellent command of the English language) who took a message for me over the telephone [was not Angel]. read more
