Sad to say nothing here piqued my interest really and when it did it was way overpriced unfortunately. (Cool pottery bowl maybe 5 inches diameter was $100 marked) but I know most of these are individual vendors so it varies. This antique mall is your typical booth vendor setup. 2 stories of stuff to look at. Be prepared to meet the always grumpy cash register staff. The prices are not competitive as it seems the rent this place charges the vendors makes them price their stuff higher than norm. There is no haggling unless the actual booth vendor happens to be there. read more

Two stories pack full of antiques and collectible's. A wide variety of items. Lots of different things to see each time you visit.

Really 2-2.5 stars, but I feel too guilty to round down. This is a tough review to write, because I'm finding it hard to articulate the problem. I might return, ever, but probably not? And this is given that it's near my parents' house, and after finding a couple of things I'm happy with. Wait! I've got it! It's exactly this exchange at the neighborhood rummage sale, from The Simpsons: Ned Flanders : [providing running commentary on the rummage sale]  Well, sir, looks like we got some nice items here at table Glick. Like this; what the heckaroonie is this, Mrs. Glick? Mrs. Glick : [taking his microphone]  It is a candy dish, Ned. $90. Ned Flanders : Uh-huh. Well, I, uh... I guess you could put a lot of nice things in there. Mrs. Glick : No! Just candy, Ned. $90. So we've established that. First, the pros-- nice and big, clean, people at the counter were friendly, I definitely did not see any of the "pile 'em to the ceiling and let God sort them out" style. Booths were easy to maneuver through and most items nicely displayed. Disagree with the complaints about messiness, rudeness and poor presentation. So why won't I likely be back? I think I can best describe the issue as "Sellers don't seem to know what they're doing." Either that, or I am very much not the target market here. There are a LOT of reproductions, but hey, I like the Cracker Barrel store, so whatever. Besides, even a lightly seasoned amateur should be able to pick those out from among the antiques and vintage items (which they definitely also have). There are also a lot of items I'd describe as "glorified thrift store." Maybe not my taste, but items manufactured 5-25 years ago in mostly good shape, that... I guess you might use in your home? But on top of that, 90% of them are overpriced, in my opinion. I live in the Washington, DC area, and the prices for comparable items were mostly a little bit *higher* at this antique mall. No shade at all to rural NC, and I didn't expect to be able to walk off with a ton of antiques for $5 like some greedy carpetbagger. But the whole operation... just literally doesn't make sense to me? Two possible explanations in my opinion. 1) Not knowing the market price and not caring how quickly or often things sell (maybe the booth rent is dirt cheap, so folks don't care?) or 2) somehow folks in greater Waynesville, NC are actually willing to pay these prices for many of these specific (to me, mostly not very appealing) items-- just a matter of different strokes for different folks. I suspect more #1 than #2, but can't say for certain. Examples? - A canister set marked vintage and priced at $225 that was very very obviously the kind of cute but low-quality item they sell at Michael's (the chain craft store). Machine made "scratches" and all. Even if it were authentic, $225 would have been overpriced. Note that most of the repro items aren't being passed off or priced as authentic... although I still think most are overpriced for repro. -An item in acceptable condition obviously from the 1920s marked "old, maybe 1880s??" with a price tag about 50% higher than what I'd see in DC. -A couple of items-- a purse and a camera-- that a quick eBay search showed me would only cost 50% of the price they were charging. Back before eBay, you could get bargains in brick-and-mortar stores-- or even moreso at yard sales and auctions-- because people didn't always know how to price rarer or random items. Then prices went up a bit, because, I can do my research and hey, if it doesn't sell in the shop, I can sell on eBay to a market of millions of people. But being more expensive than eBay? For fairly common items that have multiple listings on eBay? I feel like the only way you can pull that off is if you are in a tourist hotspot in the middle of Manhattan or something, with a lot of rich people on vacation impulse buying. -A mass-manufactured dining table and 4 chairs from a good manufacturer, but in fair condition at best. Veneer, not solid wood, because it's like... 20 years old? All scratched up. $400. Again, I may not be the market-- maybe it has a cult following!-- but I don't see it. Especially for big furniture that has to be sold locally. I will say that I saw a few gems here and there-- but they were such a small % of the total that I'd have had to be looking for those specific pieces, which I wasn't. I'm happy with one of the items I got-- not a steal, but a fun dress that was reasonably priced and happened to fit me (not common, as I'd be a size 16 in vintage). The other item... I'm not sure I regret it, but I do think I overpaid. And if I'd been in the market for them, I did see a dozen or more neat, authentic things priced fairly. Out of thousands. So I'd say, with some digging, you might get lucky. But usually the places you REALLY have to dig in are dirt cheap. Not so here. Just an FYI. PS-- They take credit cards, but some booths will only give you a discount for cash or check. read more

I visited this store on a trip to take my daughter back to college. It was exactly what you would expect to find at an antique store with lots of different vendors- a mixed bag of genuine antiques and rummage sale booths. My daughter and I enjoy the scavenger hunt vibe of places like this and both scored a couple of "treasures". read more

15 years ago this was a decent place to shop....iim an antique dealer and hadn't been here in several years and decided to re visit. I was in shock at the decline. Nothing but junk and quite possibly the messiest place seen in a while and that is saying a lot because I've seen a lot of disasters. Nearly every single booth was just in shambles. Literal piles and pile of stuff. No attempt to make it presentable. Such a shame because it is a great location and building. This is what happens when mall owners allow dealers to sell plastic yard sale crap. These dealers can't be making any money at all. Waste of time. read more

Spacious double floor mall with lots of vendors. I've been stopping here every chance I'm in the area for the last 10 years. I've found some great decor items here. Definitely a must for all you treasure hunters out there. read more

This was the last stop on a 3 day junk shopping spree. We stayed in the area to go to this mall and a few others in the morning then head home. Typical "antique mall' for the area, some nice booths, others filled with garage sale junk. We were in the store for approximately 30-35 minutes and had already found something, which I brought to the counter. I went back to my partner and we noticed a police officer down the main aisle. We thought he was saying hello to a friend at the store, when he approached us. In reality, the man running the store (owner or not) called the county sheriff on us and we were told this man was accusing us of stealing buffalo nickels. He had found a case in which he told the police was broken into and there were buffalo nickels missing (some worth 'hundreds' of dollars) After talking with 2 of the THREE policemen that showed up for 1/2 hour or so, they were assured we were not the culprits. We emptied our pockets, even showed them the contents of our vehicle (tho we had never left the store after we got there) Mind you, I am 50 years old and the partner is 63 with a heart condition. We were never face to face with this accuser - nor did we return to the inside of this business after we went outside to talk with two of the officers. This ordeal ran the whole gamut: shock, surprise, laughter, depression - this was truly the worst experience I have had since being in downtown Washington DC on 9/11 How this idiot came to the conclusion that we were responsible for what had happened to this display case & coins is beyond me. From our conversations, I am sure that is what the officers were thinking, also! They were intelligent and courteous, unlike the person running this establishment.
