Absolutely fantastic toy store! The owner was there even though he's owned it for over 25 years. He's personal and fun to talk with. The inventory just about includes everything you can think of! This is the most wonderful Toy Store. I took my youngins here and they adored it, I walked out spending $100 but it was worth it for the looks. They have a wonderful selection of toys and everyone is so friendly. The man with the pinwheel hat, who I assume owns the store is wonderful! I also went to the Hendersonville Store and the young girl, Olivia was a wonderful help with Legos and there was another short haired girl with a shark sweatshirt who wrapped it beautifully. We had such a wonder-filled time exploring this toy shop on Main Street in Brevard. We were visiting the area over Christmas and stumbled across this fabulous shop. The windows were all decked out for the holidays. People would slow their roll and look at the magical displays. The staff/elves were so friendly and fun! The selection of merchandise is quite impressive! We felt like kids again as we wandered throughout looking at the latest and greatest toys on the market. What an excellent independent toy store with a HUGE selection of toys, models & games for all ages. We were amazed at how much variety they have packed in to the various rooms. The store is well organized by themes so if you are looking for something in particular, just ask an employee for assistance. Their displays are fantastic, too, and we easily spent an hour just wandering around looking at everything. Their prices seemed reasonable in comparison to toys you would find elsewhere plus they have a sale/discount room as well. read more

I love shopping local, even if the prices are a little more expensive. Helping out the community is better than helping out the corporate world. However, I walked into O.P. Taylor's with my super excited 5-year-old daughter, and the cashier wouldn't even look up at us. No greeting, no "hello", not even a head nod. Another woman was putting up stock, again, nothing. Walked upstairs, another worker putting stuff up and couldn't even acknowledge my daughter's presence. Higher prices, terrible customer service, all make for a lousy experience. At least they had a huge selection of toys. Too bad we're on our way to Target now. read more

This place is AMAZING! What a cool, independent toy store in downtown Brevard. I make sure to stop in each summer when I'm up there and while I'm not there to buy many toys (which are plentiul, various, & all on easy display), I spend my money upstairs in the Science toy & kit area. Each year I have a Science Camp and we always use some of the fun stuff I get here all the time! It's nice to see LEGO products outside a major retailer! And this is the first place I've ever seen Duplo blocks with numbers & letters on them. Nice for my little nephew. read more

Best Toy Store in the World!!! We just loved it!!! We spent way over an hour in there today and got our Christmas Shopping done for the Grandchildren. AND... they wrapped it also. There was nothing in that store that I could think of that they didn't have. It's amazing! I couldn't get my husband to quit playing with the race car track. I'm thinking he might want one for Christmas. My granddaughter looked at everything. They could have hired her for a job by the time we left. She was helping the customers before we left. Much bigger inside than we thought and the two floors are packed with a wide variety of inventory. Sometimes a breadth of offerings for toys means a lot of cheap junk, but they had quality offerings. I love O.P. Taylor's. They've got some unique toys kids love. We always find something new. Or old school toys I had growing up that I can't find other places. Love it. My only complaint is some of their items are more expensive than I can find other places. Specifically Amazon. We are big Amazon shoppers and always check prices against what we can get online. If it's within a few bucks, we buy at the store to support local business. But, we've found some items marked WAY high up and passed on them But fun to frequent, play with the race car set, and see what new items they have! read more

Every time we are on vacation we have come to this toy store. We have always bought a new game or some toy. The positive: They have anything and everything you've ever wanted. And if they don't have it I'm sure they'd find it for you. The negative: I gave them 3 stars because I'm pretty sure you could find the toys cheaper online and because the girls behind the counter were less than friendly. I would think if you'd really want people to purchase in your store instead of buying online you would hire more friendly workers. I can't resist independent toy stores. This one beats them all. Unbelievable wide range of toys. A great range of prices. My son, my daughter and I spent an hour and half exploring and playing with race car setup. The best thing is there is something for everyone. My family has been a long time fan and customer of O.P. Taylor's Toy Store in Brevard which is the coolest toy store on the planet! They also have a store in Asheville and Greenville, SC. Today I called the store requesting help finding gift options for friends on the west coast who recently had a baby boy. I spoke with Kaden who went above and beyond to help me! After I told Kaden what I needed she immediately went to work finding great gift options and texted her ideas to me so I could review. Once we aligned on exactly which items I wanted to purchase Kaden wrapped each gift, completed a card with my message and signature (which she sent to me via text for approval before enclosing with the gift) and mailed the gift complimentary. This really is a remarkable toy store, 6000 square feet. I'd say it's best for ages 3-11. Under 3 and the kid is overwhelmed (although they do have a nice room of baby toys). More than 11 and they will have fun ... but they probably won't buy anything. Even with the 6000 square feet, it feels like a cozy spot. Lots of small rooms, organized by type of toy, and two stories helps it feel as though it's in an old house. The selection is phenomenal. The board game room alone is delightful. And you gotta love a store that sells Archie McPhee along with Spongebob Mr. Potato Heads and the Snoopy Sno Cone makers. A great deal of fun. read more

Inside is a smorgasbord of toys for kids of all ages, just about everything you can imagine from your childhood and cool new toys and models. The service is marvelous. It was always fun to see the LGB trains, although like everyone else their selection of LGBs had practically dried up by last fall because of LGB's problems. But O.P. Taylor's marches on, and with a handful of young kids in our extended family we will certainly be back. read more

The staff is incredible! I say this with the utmost sincerity. I live in Texas and my sister and her kids in North Carolina. I called, they helped me find the right gift for my nephew and in my price range. They wrapped it and had it ready for pickup. They communicated with me throughout the entire process. I even got a call when they were done wrapping so my sister knew she could come anytime. I've been here only once in person but was astonished then too. I wish I could give this establishment more than 5 stars if possible.
