The kitchen was incredibly well equipped with some implements that were of better quality than the average person's kitchen. The cabin itself was modern and comfortable, we stayed in cabin 1 and it was more than enough space for the two of us. It would sleep 3 people or perhaps 2 couples comfortably. We paid the extra money for an upgraded boat (which I believe was a StarCraft). The bow-mounted trolling motor was excellent, the foot pedals worked well. The fish finder worked fine. Comfortable for 2, but 4 might be pushing it. There was a fire ban in place at the time due to the northern Ontario wildfires but the fire pits looked very accessible and well kept. When the sun set, we would fish off of the docks and caught a couple 2lb bass. Customer service was great, I'm terrible with names so I can't tell you the couple's names but they were quite helpful and friendly. We might check the place out for some ice fishing this winter if I can dig up my old ice fishing gear. This is a great spot and I'd totally recommend it!

We were in the cottage with three rooms. Kitchens were fully stocked with plates, pots and cutlery. LOCATION: Not on the Lake Nipissing, on the south river that leads you there. The waters are murkier because everything is getting flushed through the river. For those whom like to swim in the lake it is not very swim able. AMENITIES: Pool is large and not crowded. Lots of great hiking nearby. Firepits for all cottages, but setback was its across a road. Kayaks and pedal boats are free to use, but only two available to serve ten cottages. The equipment was a little old. Games room had a pool table and air hockey table. Air hockey table a little old. Enjoyed the free movie rentals. SERVICE: I feel indifferent about this. At the time of booking we were promised free wood for our firepit. At arrival we were told no. We confirmed again with the wife and she said yes free firewood. And than in the evening the husband tells us we must pay. It was $5 not the a big deal. It was the communication. Also, the use of the equipment for kayaking always had to requested to be taken out and because of the wait time, you dont get into the water till at least 30 minutes have passed. Overall, we had a good time, but we will not return. The misleading information has left a bad taste.

We've stayed at Torbay Cottages in the past, and the owner remembered which of his cottages we stayed in last year. He was also able to accommodate us on a Sunday night even with limited availability, where-as another nearby cottage would only book for week-ends and weeks and not for single nights. The price is a little bit higher than at least one other one nearby, but there's also a cheaper option nearby which reflects the quality of it. This one is moderately priced, and everything has always been well there. There was even wifi available as a bonus. While I wasn't a fan of the redesign of the way they've split the cottages in half when it comes to lanes leading to them, I'd definitely return again to Torbay considering the service and quality of the venue.

Pros: great views; large room; clean, comfortable mattress in main bedroom; nice linens Cons: I was in a second floor room (it is a motel style where you access your room directly from outside) and I had to carry my luggage up two flights of stairs with no offer of help from staff; the room had clearly been recently renovated but there were many items unfinished or poorly done (unfilled holes in floors where wiring had been run, obvious patching on walls, wrinkled wallpaper, broken blinds, wall mounted TV was both crooked and off centre); the door to the room was very difficult to open and close (sticking); I specifically ordered a room with a Murphy bed to accommodate another person - the bed had a very cheap / soft mattress and did not sit properly on the floor (it was slanted toward the footboard); although the room was a suite (separate sleeping and living areas) there was only a TV in the living area; the air conditioning unit was very loud and not terribly efficient; several burnt out / non operational lights (including in the shower) Overall there is great potential but the poor attention to detail impacts the experience significantly. The views from the room were amazing but the overall experience was not what I remember from my previous stay. With some cosmetic upgrades and greater attention to detail it could be a great resort. At this point in time I would not recommend for the price.

The hotel was full, but it was stone quiet. We really needed that after an 11 hour drive. Since we were traveling with our dog, it was particularly nice to have a dog walk area with poop bags and waste disposal provided. Sometimes find it difficult to leave the National Capital and booking at the Hampton is good motivation to leave town. The breakfast, pool, friendly staff and late check-out keeps me coming back. Booked one night for Wed-Thursday July 31-Aug 1. Left Ottawa around 9 pm and drove the dark & lonely route reassured of a safe & comfortable place to stay. Arrived around 1 AM and Tanya was on reception. She greeted me with a radiant smile and checked me into the room. She's been at the hotel for 15 years and has provided a warm welcome for many a weary traveller. She's checked me in a few times, always with a happy smile and welcoming demeanour. Went to the room, luxurious suite as always, went back downstairs to grab a cart and moved all items from my vehicle before parking. Haven't had security issues before but proactively remove tools, luggage etc before leaving the vehicle for the night. Am familiar with the luggage cart availability and find that keeping valuables in the room helps me sleep better. Great sleep in the comfy bed. One of the main points of attraction at the hotel is the delicious breakfast. The eggs, sausages, ham and other items are always done to perfection. The coffee's a delight. Recognized some of the breakfast staff from previous visits. They arrive at 5 AM to get the breakfast ready. A shout-out to Denise, Marlene, Debbie, and Linda for their early-morning excellence. Much appreciated. After breakfast a few laps of the pool were in order. Bring my bathing suit and goggles for the occasion, a warm-up for summer lake swimming in this case. Wasn't going to Paris with my cardio but my technique was still there. Felt great and went back to the suite to change and begin the checkout. The noon checkout is much-appreciated and a reason to keep coming back. Was flirting with another hotel on this trip but the extra hour in the AM was a deal-breaker. Always keep an eye out for the rich and famous in the hotel. Have seen politicians and celebrities lingering in the lounge and have exchanged pleasantries over coffee and the newspaper. In this case a mother and daughter asked for a later checkout time so they could explore the local colleges. They were accommodated due to the extra checkout times available. An amazing convenience. Haven't heard of any hotel that does that other than the North Bay Hampton. Incredible. Bravo! Was rested and on my way before noon. A great start to the journey began at the Hampton. Many adventures lay ahead. The final chapter has yet to be written. Will return to the Hampton to begin other adventures, or as a denouement at journey's end.

Wow this place has got it's sh!t together!…read more My friends sister hosted a brithday party at this place and his parents asked us to stay in a room nearby to make sure nothing unusual happens. I suppose the girls wanted some room from the parents but then they just hired us as their 501st to make sure no weird sh!t went down. We got a beautiful room. All log cabin style decor. With a fireplace and nice little sitting area. Two big beds and all the other usual hotel/motel stuff. The room also came with internet. Naturally, being the nerds that my friends and I are we hooked up a router to the internet socket and I set up all the appropriate network settings since the hotel did their best to try and stop people from doing that (but am just to 1337 to be stopped :P) and we played Starcraft over battlenet all night. I don't think we even looked out the window to check on his sister once haha. Great times were had by all though. We didn't sleep at all so we woke his sister up bright and early at 0715 as a joke. Overall, a very pleasant place to stay if your looking for a nice spot in the Bay when your passing through,
