FABULOUS hot & sour soup!!!!! This is the spot! Chicken fried rice is pretty stellar too. I'll be back!

Meal: Pepper steak with house special fried rice, fried chicken, house special soup and 2 crab rangoons.

Fippity foppity, another place of mediocrity. So I recently got tested positive for COVID, and like any good citizen, I decided to destroy my health with Chinese takeout deliveries instead of going anywhere. I was going to order China House again, but then found out that Bamboo Garden is listed on UberEats too, with similar prices and better popularity, so, why not. ...Honestly, the two places are more similar than they are different all the same. But anyway, for this review I ordered these dishes: - Pepper steak combo with crab rangoons and house special fried rice - House special soup - Fried chicken (I've found out fried chicken is actually a very good way to judge how a place approaches food and especially appetizers in general). So, let's dig into each one and see what they offer for us. - Right out of the bat, the cream ch- sorry, crab rangoons are filled to the brim with exactly what you think it would be filled with. So much so, in fact, that when I took my first bite the cream cheese squirted all over my face. It's very sweet, too, but I don't dislike it. I do find the crab rangoons rather enjoyable, even if it's very fast-food-y and I still wish I could see a crab rangoon with actual crab or at least a substantial amount of surimi crab in it instead of whatever the heck they are offering as crab rangoons these days. - The house special soup is kind of strange. It's quite substantial and arguably a good value, but I cannot decide if I like it or not. The soup liquid itself doesn't feel brothy, in fact it felt more like an egg drop soup but with vegetables, chicken, shrimps, and char siu in it instead of egg. Yes. Vegetables, chicken, shrimps, and char siu. That's what makes things "house special". The vegetables are quite fresh and have a bite to them, but none of the protein had much flavor. The chicken is also rather... mushy? I legitimately thought it was tilapia at first before taking a closer look is what I mean. - The fried rice is just okay. Like I said, house special just means small bits of shrimp, chicken and char siu. Your classic takeout, just-cooked fried rice. Kinda wet. Not great. Not the worst. - The pepper steak with onion and bell pepper... tastes exactly like what you would expect out of a good Chinese buffet, like Paradise for example, albeit with a bit too much salt. Who cares about yin and yang when you have soy and sodium I guess. I would just go to Paradise for that though. Pepper steak, I mean. Not salt. - Now the fried chicken is interesting. For some reason, the chicken actually tastes pretty meaty and doesn't feel like the Walmart chicken they used for their soup. Not organic by any means, but YO WHAT'S THAT YELLOW COLOR ABOUT?!!! I don't usually take supplementary pictures, but this yellow film covering the meat just has to be seen. See Pic 2. I sure hope it's just chicken fat, though I don't know why it would turn the whole thing yellow like that. It still tastes fine and doesn't seem to be anything concerning, but I'm still... well, rather concerned. If anyone reading this knows what's affecting His Yellowness, please do let me know. Other than that, it's still a far cry from Phở Indy's or Aladdin's fried chicken, but it's definitely better than most fast food places. Yellow tallow aside. That about sums it up for my feelings towards Bamboo Garden. I... honestly didn't know what to expect out of it when I was ordering, and I'm still not sure what to think of it now. It's your classic Chinese takeout with all of its convenience and dodginess is all I can say. It does decent business like China House and many others do decent business. It's not Wu's or Hainan House by any means, but it's edible and still better than Panda Express, even if only slightly.

#41. VERY good! Lots of garlic.
    Natalie L.

I think this little spot is pretty solid. I always just get it to go. It's always hot and ready when I get there. I get the #41. Beef something or other. It's garlicky and delicious!!!! They pack the container full!! The crab Rangoon are really good and they have lots of filling! My husband got the kung pao chicken and really liked it. The only complaint I have... my husband got a can of Diet Pepsi, took a swig and recoiled back from it. It had expired almost a year before. But the food is always great!

Chicken Lo Mein lunch menu only 6.70 and comes with fried rice/white rice and hot/sour soup.
    AJ. S.

We had the Chicken Lo Mein and Orange Chicken with fried rice. The ChIcken Lo Mein was very good and just enough sauce with big lunch portions. The orange chicken was not my favorite, but my kids liked it and it was really crispy. For 6.70 during lunch hours from 11 am to 3pm it was a good portion size and they still both came with fried rice or white rice and a choice of hot and sour soup or egg drop soup.

The decor is typical 60s Chinese restaurant with red lanterns and murals, but it does have a great fish tank in the center. The staff are all super friendly. You will find the typical menu items but prepared better than you've had before. All the meals come with soup, both the egg drop and tomato beef choices are very good. I'm always here with my family and we finally learned to order a few entree's and a few appetizers because we usually ended up with far too much food. Some menu highlights are the General Tsao chicken, the pineapple chicken, the crispy rice soup for two is excellent. They also offer Vietnamese selections, several varieties of Pho, and pan fried noodles. If you're ever in Fort Wayne I highly recommend you stop in.

I've wanted to try the Hainan House for years. I've read their good reviews and made it a must…read moretry. I will say that these reviews led me to believe that the Hainan House provided a premium-gourmet product like Han Dynasty and Wu's Chinese. Hainan isn't in that top tier where the product WOWS you. But rather, Hainan is in that next tier down where some things are better than others. I ordered take out versus dinning in. The two elderly employees I interfaced with were very kind and helpful. The facility is easy to find as it is in the same complex as The Clyde. The building is older, in good repair and nicely decorated with Chinese decor (see pictures). Parking surrounds the building in an awkward manner - you will figure it out. The menu is very large (see pictures) as it is at most Chinese restaurants. Prices were fairly reasonable. My order was prepared quickly..so no waiting! The fried pot stickers were fairly standard compared with other Chinese restaurants. Not over cooked. Slightly oily. Tender wrapper and pork insides. It came with a dip that added flavor and moisture. The General Tso's sauce was very tasty. It was moderately thick, slightly sweet, a little spicy and stuck to the breading nicely. Nice taste without being sappy sweet or spicy hot! The chicken pieces were larger than bite size. This made it difficult to eat as I had to cut each piece into small enough pieces to eat with the rice. I found the chicken to be somewhat over cooked and slightly tough. The breading was thick and absorbed the seasoned sauce taste perfectly. The Happy Family sauce was very bland. It coated the meat and vegetables nicely keeping them moist. However it really didn't do much to accent these items. The vegetables were nicely cooked with a slight crisp. I was disappointed in the amount of meat placed in this dish. It felt like I was lucky to get more than one piece of each seafood item. These meats were cooked to expectation - moist and tender. Overall this dish was bland and didn't impress. The white rice was cooked to expectation. Slightly moist. It was easy to pick up with the entree bites. Overall, make sure you understand the product you are getting. I expected a premium product which disappointed me. I might have a different rating if I dined in and selected items that fit the "next tier" level of taste.

I had an enjoyable dining experience at this restaurant…read more For one, the food was terrific, and the menu was pretty extensive. I know I walked out of there extremely full, knowing I would return. However, the best part of the evening? It was undoubtedly the service that I received from my server. A mom of several kids, we talked about the challenges of balancing school and activity schedules with work hours required by her employer. In particular, we discussed one of her daughters, who is apparently an avid golfer despite the responsibilities of tending to her other tables. And she handled that with a smile and with grace. As I was in Ft. Wayne on a golf-related matter, I keyed in on this part of the conversation. Again, it was extremely friendly to meet someone so pleasant. Back to the food - again, it was excellent. And I will be honest, I ate more than I should have! The restaurant is in a small strip mall, but it is well-maintained at the time of my visit. For photos, I suggest that you Google the restaurant - there is an extensive selection. This also applies to the menu. Many, many choices, and they all look great.

Thai Tea - $ 3 - This wasn't very good. It didn't really taste like Thai Tea. 0/5 stars. Spring Roll - $7 - This we got I think on a Wednesday night, because if you spent so much money you get a free spring roll appetizer. It was ok, but I wouldn't have paid money for it. 3/5 stars. Vegetables and Tofu $14, Chicken $16, Beef $17, and Shrimp $18 We had the Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and Pad See-Ew. The Pad Thai had the best flavor, and then the Pad See-Ew, and I really can't recommend the Drunken Noodles. We got the Drunken Noodles medium spicy and the other two mild, but I couldn't taste any spice in them. I really wouldn't recommend getting the noodles here, but if you had to pick one, get the Pad Thai. Now for the good part, the sushi! Now, I was planning on trying everything and just making a giant list of what's so good, but I apologize, there's so many good ones that I just forgot my nit picking on certain rolls. You really can't go wrong with any of the rolls. I haven't had a bad one yet. I'm going to list all the rolls I've had, but really, just pick your favorite fish and I'm sure it'll be good. Nori Angel Hiroshima Kobe Black Panther Moon Fire - This is fun show, and it gives a yummy fire taste. Dupont Red Dragon White Dragon Nagasaki American Dream Hamachi Fiesta Indiana Beach Fresh, fried, doesn't matter, all of them are good. They give you soy sauce, but you really don't need it with any of the rolls. Tempura Cheesecake - $8 - This was fantastic. This was free for my birthday lunch, and I was so happy with this. I'd pay money for this. 5/5 stars. Go here for the sushi and the Tempura Cheesecake! We stuff ourselves with so much sushi that we don't leave room for dessert, but I really should get that cheesecake again. Go here!
