I have gotten lunch there, carry out, 4 times in past several months, and the food is hot, delicious, and great portions. Shrimp egg rolls are good! Because a couple of us are ultra low carb, they prepare no rice and additional vegetables for our meal. Supper fast, and great attitudes. read more

Order Garlic Chicken. Fried rice was cold and not fresh. Garlic chicken I asked to tame down didn't want it hot. It was soo bland. Egg rolls were old because they were soft. Called the establishment the worker kept trying to argue with me their food is quality. I asked why I was charged so much. Don't believe any of the bad reviews for Chung King. This place is a hidden gem for fantastic Chinese cuisine. A lot of Chinese restaurants in my opinion are all about the same as far as quality goes. Nothing that really makes them stand out. No so for Chung King, everything from the egg rolls to the hot & sour soup are notch above what you can expect from other restaurants. To be fair, there's no lunch menu and therefore you'll need to order soup (if that's your thing) in addition to your main dish. I will be going back, frequently!! read more

We pass this place at least twice a week, and finally decided to try it. For what it is (express Chinese) it's not bad! We liked the hot and sour soup, crab rangoon, and the shrimp noodles. (The egg rolls and shrimp fried rice were okay, but not exciting.) If you want to try it for the first time, go between noon-3pm to get a complimentary cup of soup. Sorry to say our experience was not good. It was the worst Chinese food that we've had in Ft. Wayne. The breading on the Sweet and Sour chicken was soggy due to the Chicken being saturated in the S/S sauce. The Tso's just didn't taste good, the breading was also soggy. The food just didn't taste good nor was it worth the $19.98 for two meals. The egg rolls were acceptable. Compared to most Chinese restaurants in the area the portion size was tiny. I have never written a review for yelp, and just last week I wrote one of the very few I have ever written on Google. But, I feel so strongly about this that I felt compelled. THIS IS NOT THE CHUNG KING EXPRESS THAT YOU HAVE KNOWN FOR 25+ YEARS!!! I saw the sign that said under new ownership, and I really hoped that was going to be the only change (other than the plus of now taking credit cards). When I looked at the menu, I could tell this would not be the case. It was a whole new menu, and it was filled with strip mall Chinese choices. My go-to, the chung king combination, was gone. So, I tried the triple delight. I was triple NOT delighted. The chicken did not taste fresh and the shrimp was "battered" (covered in an unappealing soft coating that seemed to be an attempt at fried shrimp). The vegetables were okay, but the sauce was tasteless. The rice tasted and had the same texture as minute rice. The egg roll and 2 pieces of crab rangoon that came with the meal were literally DRIPPING into the bag with fry oil. I took one bite and threw them away. I could continue, but I think you get the point... Chung King Express has been one of my favorite 'best kept secret' places in town for 25+ years. The food flavor and quality was ALWAYS consistent. It was always fresh, made instantly to order in a wok with fresh meat, vegetables, and sauce. It was excellent, and by far my favorite (and what I considered the only) fast Chinese food restaurant in town. I am beyond disappointed that it is gone. If the old owners read this... I want to start by saying it is not the same owners as before. I frequent CK often and have grown to crave chinese carryout from CK. Sadly it is no longer owned by the same person. Unfortunately I didnt realize this till after I ordered. The food is ok. I got the sweet n sour chicken. It now just comes with chicken, sauce and white rice. Previously it had onion,pepper,carrot, and pineapple all tossed and heated in the sauce. Now it's just a water red sauce with chicken nuggets and white rice instead of fried. I went here for lunch today, drive thru. There 4 cars in the drive thru, however, I hardly noticed. I was probably there 3-4 minutes. Very fast service. Ordered was a Kung Pao Beef and (first time) Kung Pao Shrimp. I wasn't entirely certain if both would be prepared the same, just different meats or would there be other differences like vegetables or flavors? It did turn out the case of different meats. Meat, green pepper, onion, peanuts, mushroom, carrots in the Kung Pao sauce and a nice serving of rice. Both were excellent. Even after 15 minutes getting home ready to eat, the food was piping hot. Even a small risk of mouth burn (seriously be careful). It was very fresh, and prepared perfectly. The flavoring, the spiciness, the sauce, all of what I have come to expect when getting from from Chung King Express over the years. Kung Pao is a spicy dish. The "heat" is well balanced, enough to give experienced spicy food eaters a "fix" and not so hot more heat senstive people won't be able to eat a bite. I've been enjoying Chung King Express's food since the late 90s. This is one of the most consistent experiences I have had with any restaurant in my life as far as food quality. Once in a while a dish may not be perfect like it was today. Might be a different chef or cook, or maybe been a long day, or maybe on break. But it is still good even then, just not quite perfection like it was today. But it is good value and I will keep returning to enjoy their delicious entrees! read more

Resurrected! My favorite take-out Chinese place has returned after a fire put them on hold for about a year. Too long to be without the most perfect fried rice ever!! How can I describe it? This is American Chinese food without having to overcompensate. No extra, over-the-top seasoning or flavor, no extra grease, just exactly the way it should be. Best of all, it's consistent. I grew up with this restaurant as our family go-to when we wanted Chinese (again, creature of habit here). And I loved it so much, they catered my 16th birthday for about 15 friends. Fresh, crisp veggies, tender meat, and perfectly cooked rice-- if you go between 12 and 3, your meal comes with a half cup of soup. The hot and sour soup is fantastic, but I would recommend the egg drop. This isn't the neon yellow, goopy sludge you find at most Chinese restaurants or take out. This is more subtle, clear broth, bits of chicken, egg white, and tofu, greens, peas and carrots. Fresh and light without all the food coloring! The only drawback is that they are a cash-only establishment. Normally that would knock them down a star, but the quality of food they produce just keeps them at the top of my list for Chinese. read more

Alright so this place wasn't quite what I expected. It was even better. I went to Chung King because I figured that they had Chung King chicken- Typically a Szechuan fish with fried cubed chicken and vegetables. I was wrong. Their version of Chung king chicken was more like orange chicken. Okay, I thought, I like that too. I was more than impressed when I ate it, however. The meat was high quality and REAL white meat! HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! Several times we have gone during business hours, and rudely been yelled at through the window that they closed (an hour early). God forbid you show up in their drive through when they don't feel being open; they'll rudely tell you to go away. (An not talking five minutes before close. They said they closed at 9 tonight, and when we ordered at 8, they told us they were closed, had dishes to wash and wouldn't serve anyone else.) Unfortunately, we've found this to be the norm here.
