A lovely space that is perfect for anybody. From the Mummy with a pram that needs a caffeine fix from sleepless nights, to Great-Grandmas that need a break from their charity shop shopping... and all those in between. A good selection of seating areas to suit people who want to get some work done, or instead catch up with friends. The coffees are all well made and it's so refreshing to taste their guest beans that change regularly. I can also vouch for the food here. The brunch menu is served until mid afternoon and I can HIGHLY recommend the pancakes! But the food ranges from bagels to egg bennies to avo toast to toasties to bagels to sandwiches to salads. All great quality and reasonably priced. They have also opened a new place in Derby which just shows how well they're doing. Bear Coffee truly makes living in Uttoxeter, that little bit more "bear"able.

Was pretty excited on the night too, so excited I left my card in the wine machine which made me look like a total amateur. It's much more spacious inside than I had realised, and there are also seats and heaters outside with a great view of the nearby row of traditional pubs with the town hall in the background. I enjoyed trying the various wines (the smallest amount is often £2-3 so you can try a good four wines on a £10 card pre-payment) and could even tell that some of them tasted different, so am basically going to be earning my MW in no time. They also do a few little snacks - my fave baba ghanoush and some rather tasty crisps, although the brown olives tasted too sour for me. Tap water came chilled in a delightful glass bottle. Btw I am not sure there are actually other drinks options here, maybe check that before you go. The staff were efficient and welcoming and I am sure I will be back here. Although I now work for an independent wine merchant in Didsbury and am considered a bit of a fussy geek by my friends, I have longed for a good wine bar in Manchester pretty much since I arrived in town over 6 years ago, well before wine was a big thing for me. A few places have attempted it, half-heartedly for some, but none had so far succeeded. Then came Salut wines, first baby business of a lovely couple who like me love good wine and thought it deserved proper representation in the City Centre. An ambitious project that was, not without hurdles. But tenacity paid off and behold, a superb, clean, warm and welcoming wine bar where odd ins once was. Enomatic machines a-go-go, 32 wines are available by the glass at any point in (opening) time. That's 16 whites and rosés and 16 reds. Thanks to these machines you can enjoy a vast variety of wines, all of which are way above your house plonk from most pubs/bars/restaurant. And that's not all. 3 measures are available: 50ml, 125ml and 175 ml. The first one is my favourite. I can play to my heart's content and try a lot of wine before it's time to call it a day. Most wines are between £1.20 and £5 for a glass but you can also try some of the fancier stuff that would NEVER be available by the glass otherwise. Risk-free. Whilst they do not cater, a range of nibbles and tapas plates are available and it's perfectly suitable for a light lunch or diner. Cheese, cured meats and Mediterranean veggie plates, all made with very good ingredients. Music is top notch, not your average lounge "elevator" type nor your bass-boosted frenzy. Blues, jazz, pop, electro... To sum-up, great atmosphere, best wine selection in town, excellent service. The bottle prices to take away are on the steep side of I'm honest but I'll put that down as the location.

The ambiance is relaxed, so good for food with friends and can be quite intimate with candles on tables and low lights. I booked the restaurant via an app on my phone (dead easy and convenient). When we arrived there, our table was ready and we received a warm welcome. The food - it was the Christmas menu this time- was tasty and well presented. The wine was very nice too! I have to say that the waitress was very nice, honest and helpful. She even went back to the kitchen to check the exact content of a dish (she did tell us before but went to check and fedback to us, very thoughtful and accurate) Special commendation for this restaurant: they have bottles of Ruinart Blanc de Blanc, my fav champagne! The bar is very nicely laid out, a large open space with a floating second floor which looks down on the bottom storey. High moulded ceilings and massive display shelving behind the bar showing off their very large selection of wine. I'm a beer drinker so the thought of a wine bar didn't get my palate stirring particularly but what did and is a fantastic aspect of Wine and Wallop is the 13 hand pumps on the bar. There is in fact almost as many beers available on a daily basis as there is wines by the glass available. I did in fact try the wines that others ordered and as there were a few even I would happily drink. I am told they were a very good selection by my wine quaffing friends. It is important to add that there is only a selection of the wines available by glass and these are displayed on a chalkboard above the door. All other wines are by bottle only. I believe they change this list regularly, although I didn't enquire how often this occurs. The beers on tap the night I went in were a selection from Timothy Taylor's (a Didsbury staple) Brightside Brewery and Ilkley. They didn't have all 13 taps on (I think there were 2 absent). The bar doesn't do meals but does have a selection of light snacks, mostly in the range of cheeses, meats, biscuits and breads. All of these are decent quality and the portions are reasonable. I would say the demographic of the bar is on the older side, being in my mid 30's I was definitely in the younger age range there on a Friday night. But that said the bar has a great vibe with no tv, and jazz music playing in the background at a low volume so it's definitely a spot for conversation or quiet contemplation rather than a party venue.

But the most unexpected thing is the food - Spanish tapas type dishes with a Moroccan influence.
