The Long Version: This T&T Supermarket location is in Hazeldean Mall in Kanata. It's where the Laura's Your Independent Grocer used to be. It just opened at the end of October 2024. We went the beginning of November 2024 so it was still brand spanking new. I took my parents here to check it out and see how it compares with the other location on Hunt Club. Our consensus was this Kanata location is smaller with less selection than the original location. We were happy to visit and see what it's all about, but since the Hunt Club location is closer to us, we'll continue to go to that location instead. The bakery section at this Kanata location is much smaller, as is the prepared foods section. I also noticed that they use sesame seeds in a lot more of their sushi than the Hunt Club location. As someone who can't eat sesame seeds and can rarely buy prepackaged sushi, this made me sad. They have dim sum and Chinese BBQ and also an area to eat the food you purchase. It's good court style seating. I did notice their impressive selection of imported Lay's chips. Their selection was comparable to the other location in this regard. I doubt I will return unless I'm already in the area for another reason because it's far from my home and I rather go to the Hunt Club location, but I think it's great for Kanata residents. The Long Version: My parents first introduced me to Green Fresh when they only had one location (the OG that was on Selkirk, that has since closed down). It was dingy and run down, but had lots of Asian ingredients that they were looking for. And it was the closest Asian grocery store to where they lived. They were thrilled when it moved to McArthur and had a total facelift, it was new, bright and clean. Green Fresh then opened a second location in Nepean on Merivale, closer to my neck of the woods. Then in January 2025, they opened this third location in Kanata/Stittsville. It's in the Grant Crossing, where the Bed, Bath and Beyond used to be (next to the Value Village). This newest location is very similar to the Nepean location. It even has the same bubble tea vendor inside (Y-Not Go For Tea). Which is a bit funny because the first Y-Not Go For Tea location is inside the Hunt Club T&T and T&T and Green Fresh are competitors! The Vanier Green Fresh has a different bubble tea vendor though: World Tea House. I visited this Kanata/Stittsville location shortly after opening, so maybe they don't have all their stuff together yet because although they have a section labelled "Bakery" they didn't have any baked goods :( However, they do have a prepared food section. It's self-serve and you pay by the weight ($2.29 per 100g). They also have a counter where they make Jianbing, Chinese crepes. There was a huge line up for these when I went, so they are definitely popular. They have lots of items, including snacks (my favourite aisles), lol. Most of the products are from China, but they have items from other countries too. They had Kracie DIY gummy kits imported from Japan. And they were only $4.99. The west end is now flush with Asian grocery stores (T&T, Kowloon, now Green Fresh, and soon Sunny Food Mart) compared to the east end (to my parents' chagrin). They don't have fresh produce, but there are a ton of spices, baking and other cooking supplies, canned goods and shelf-stable items, some baked goods, frozen food, fresh meats, cheeses, and even beauty supplies. There was a whole spice aisle and I was tempted to buy a bunch of things that weren't on my list, but I didn't have much time to browse and had to stick to the plan. I was able to find the mahleb (ground St. Lucie cherry pits), 7-spice, and yeast pretty easily. There was a shade thing that was covering all of the meat and cheese and my husband tried to open it, but it wouldn't give for some reason and we didn't want to break anything. It was a bit hard to see what was behind it, so I asked the only employee there for some help. He pulled up the shade really fast and immediately picked up the akawie cheese I was looking for. He asked if I needed anything else on my list, and I had another cheese on it (kashkaval), but he said they no longer have it because it wasn't very popular or selling very well. I wasn't too worried about the prices, since I was looking for convenience more than value, but everything I got was affordable. The staff member was super helpful, there's a plastic (plexiglass?) screen at the cash, and it was pretty empty in the middle of the weekday, so no issues with crowding. I'll definitely be back!

You can find this market in the same plaza as Mary Brown's Chicken & Taters with plenty of parking. I love shopping at T&T Supermarket with such a vast selection of fresh produce, seafood/ meat, dried and fresh noodles, bakery goods, teas, premade foods/ meals, etc (there is also a hot food bar you can pick from and serve yourself and pay by the weight). My husband and I stopped by this particular location this afternoon. It was pretty busy, but that was expected on a Saturday. We got our cart (requires $1 to use but you will get it back after you return it) and then went inside to shop. Coming from Montreal and shopping there earlier this week, I was surprised to find that some of the same items at this location actually cost a little more. For example, I was looking for this special Hong Kong Milk Tea bag that saw that it cost $1 more for the box than at the location in Montreal. I like that this market is clean and does not have that familiar smell that some Asian markets may have. Aisles are wide enough to navigate your cart through and each aisle is labeled accordingly to help shoppers find where they may want to shop in. During this shopping visit, my husband and I ended up purchasing a live lobster. He really wanted to get some seafood during our trip and also that the vacation rental we are staying in has a good size steamer in the kitchen and figured it would be good to cook it while we are here. For lobster and crabs, you pick the one you want and place it in one of the plastic baskets, then you can bring it up to the employee behind the seafood counter and they will weight it for you, bag it and place a price sticker on it for you. I like that there is a self check out area, as the line for that went by so much faster than the other lines. Overall, a positive experience and would frequent this location if I lived here.

They are $5.99-$6.99 which is about half the price of places like Sugar Mountain and Sweet Escape Candy Emporium. Sure, you don't get the nostalgic candy store vibe here, but you save $4-$6 per kit. My little nieces are addicted to these kits, so I've scoured the city for these, lol. If you are a mochi-lover, they have a lot of mochi from Japan. Many grocery stores only carry mochi from Taiwan (and specifically the brand Royal Family), so if you want something different, you can check out the variety here. They sell Wong's Ice Cream (from Toronto)! This brand sells Asian-inspired flavours like Vietnamese Coffee, Thai Milk Tea, and Korean Banana Milk. In addition to ice cream, they sell other frozen goods too, like Korean dumplings, croquettes, and Tteokbokki. They have some bubble tea plushies at the back, as well as those happy/sad reversible octopus plushies. Staff pretty much leave you alone to browse. They were efficient at checkout. The Long Version: I love supporting new small independently-owned business, so late last year (2025) when I drove along Robertson Rd I noticed something new out of the corner of my eye and I made a note to do some online research when I got home. They had limited online presence, but I discovered that it was a grocery store that sold African and Caribbean goods. I was hoping they sold some prepared foods and learned that at the time they only had beef patties but were planning on expanding the menu. I kept that in the back of my mind. I'm not in Bells Corners much anymore, but recently I was and decided to stop by KFresh to check out their takeout offerings. I actually stopped by a few months ago but they were unexpectedly closed, so I was happy they were open on my second trip. I got the Nigerian Jollof Rice Meal with Grilled Chicken ($20). There was a slight wait, but it was a reasonable amount of time. The meal came with plantains and coleslaw, as well as a chicken leg and thigh and a generous portion of Jollof rice. The plantains were so delicious. They were soft and sweet and freshly fried. The chicken was full of flavour and moist. The rice had good flavour too and a bit of heat, although it was a tad too oily for my preferences. I also would have enjoyed a bit spicier. The coleslaw was creamy, a bit too creamy for my tastes. Overall though, it was a good meal that I enjoyed and would eat again. While I was there, I snapped some photos of the inside of the store and as I was browsing while waiting for my meal I noticed some really cool food products that I had never seen at other stores before, so I took some photos to share online. I love promoting small local businesses on social media and most businesses welcome the publicity, so I thought this was innocent enough. The lady, who identified herself as the owner's mom, questioned my intentions regarding the photos. I said I was going to post them online. She asked that I not do that, and cited something about competing stores and competitors sending "spies" to scope out their inventory. I'm not sure I fully understand the reasoning but I will respect the owner's mother's wishes and not post pictures of the inside of the store or their store products. I did see a few signs by the food counter encouraging customers to post a review on Google. So I asked the lady if it was ok to post pictures of the takeout food and she said yes. So dear readers, this review will only have photos of the takeout food. I'm also posting the menu, it is also readily accessible online on UberEats. I had already posted a photo of the exterior of the store after my first visit when the store was closed. Note the prepared foods are takeout only. There is no where to eat inside.
