Delicious banh mi. Bread is crispy, but soft inside; loaded with lots of meats and pork floss. They don't cheap out on the pate and butter mayo either. For $10, this Banh mi is super filling. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area.

Tried Banh Mi Nana and thought it was a decent spot overall. The sandwich was super loaded and very filling, especially for $10! While it was alright, I did feel that the flavours were a bit muted and it lacked some freshness compared to other banh mi spots I've tried. Maybe it felt just too heavy for me? That said for the portion size and value, it's definitely worth checking out if you're looking for an affordable, hearty sandwich.

Tried Banh Mi Nana for the first time today. We went right before lunch so luckily avoided any line ups. There's only one type of banh mi on their menu - their house special which came prepared on a fresh baguette, stuffed with thick pickled vegetables, pate, cold cuts, and pork floss. The banh mi had a good slather of butter and sauce and was a good portion. I also ordered their Vietnamese coffee, which had a nice strong flavour that balanced well with the condensed milk. Highly recommend this place for a quick, delicious bite!

Tips: - Cash and debit card payments are preferred. This store does honour credit cards as payment. - There's a tip jar. - Seating is available, but it's low to the ground and seemed more for kids than adults. A recent Yelp experience introduced me to Banh Mi Nana. I returned for more. I left my parents' place at noon and got here at around 12:20 pm. I couldn't find any surface parking. I saw a short lineup outside Banh Mi Nana. It was recommended to get here earlier in the day, as this place does sell out of its banh mi fast. I parked underground. It was my second time doing it. There were lots of spaces. I'm still trying to figure out entrances. I took the stairs where it was an exit only. This eatery is between two bubble tea joints: CoCo and Tiger Sugar. The door was propped open. I walked in. The lineup appeared long. The woman in front of us said that she was waiting for her order number to be called and had us move ahead. Two others in front of her were waiting on the left. I moved up to order. The menu is straightforward. Banh mi. Choose from regular or spicy. Canned drink. I went with lychee. I got my order number and found a table to sit at. It was super low to the ground. It was suited for kids. 5'10" me managed to sit down on a sturdy, small chair and my knees were roughly at the same height as the table. I didn't know if I could get up from the chair. Did I need help? I was practically sitting on the floor. I did manage to get out of my tiny chair and felt like I had instantly reached geriatric status. This place was kind to take the cold cans out of the fridge, crack them open, and pour the juice into cups with ice. My lychee drink was so refreshing and delicious. It was naturally sweet. I appreciated the ice and the straw. Another man making countless banh mi called out my order number. I grabbed my sandwich, which felt like a sub in a paper bag, and headed to the table to chow down. The baguette was crispy and super flaky. It was awesome! It was a messy experience eating this perfect banh mi. It was worth it. You cannot eat it neatly. Would you like pork floss with your banh mi? Yes, please! This place did not skimp on any ingredients, including pork floss. Delightful! My banh mi was packed with all the best ingredients. Pickled carrots. That yellow mayo that was creamy perfection. The sliced meats. Pate. Whatever else that was in it. OMG! The best banh mi I have ever had. Hands down, except when I'm holding a banh mi and devouring it. The baguettes are baked fresh. I saw a female staffer put a few in the oven as I waited for my order. I was drooling. No banh mi sogginess! I got to read the history behind this business. We saw a woman with her two children holding a sign with LS03733. The number represented their refugee number when they arrived in Thailand. They had fled Vietnam in 1960. The woman? En Tran. She survived three months at the refugee camp. She ended up in Vancouver to rebuild her life. She sadly passed away in 2000, but her banh mi recipe lives on here. This business is a food stall. There are no washrooms. You'll need to use the one at Commerce Gate that was downstairs. I had an excellent experience. I bought an iced Vietnamese coffee before I left. The photo showing three different types of iced coffee was misleading. There's only one type. I paid with a credit card. I didn't have a debit card or cash on me. I appreciated the flexibility. The iced Vietnamese coffee was delicious. The coffee was strong. It balanced out with the dairy. The ice was nice, as it kept my drink cold the entire time that I consumed it heading back to my parents' place. I loved my banh mi and iced Vietnamese coffee. I wouldn't sit down and eat here again. I would definitely return for the best banh mi and iced coffee. (319)

Food 4/5 Service 3.75/5 Ambience 4/5 - decor If you want a deluxe Banh mi, this is it from Banh Mi Nana. There are two long tables with mini-chairs good for children for dine-in but in the day I popped in, there were two families dining in. Bags of take out orders were being made that day. Banh Mi comes in two types, regular or spicy. Each Banh Mi bun is toasted before it is filled with homemade pate, cold meats and pork floss. For me I tasted a "curry flavour" which might be in the pate or the butter. The pickled turnip, cucumber slices and cilantro are packaged separately to the Banhi. Included in our bag were eating gloves. The Banh Mi tastes rich! The price is rich at $9.94 with tax. I would pay this over the less expensive banh mi at Banhi Mi House which were skinny and a bit dry. On the Saturday following their soft opening the line up for the Banhi was about 15 minutes. The restaurant is a homage to the owner's grandmother. The story is posted on the wall. The take-out is in a busy plaza with a ton of restaurants and eateries. Parking in this Asian plaza is extremely busy.

Decided to stop by Banh Mi Mama for lunch, and I wasn't disappointed! Banh Mi Mama is located in Commerce Gate and is a quaint little shop with seating. The seating could be better as the chairs are plastic and child-sized, but its understandable given the size of the shop. I believe they have only one option for Banh Mi, an assorted cold cut Banh Mi. Unique than other places, they add pork floss which adds a good texture and flavour to the sandwich. I also really like that they toast the baguette so the outer crust is crisp. The pate they use also has a nice salty touch. I tried a sip of the Ice Drip Coffee and it was super strong, definitely not for non-coffee drinkers like me! They have a variety of canned juices as well from mango to lychee. Overall the quality of the Banh Mi is great. They only accept cash and debit so make sure you're prepared. I can imagine that the wait gets a bit long since they prepare each sandwich on the spot rather than preparing them in advance. At $9 per Banh Mi it is a little pricier than other options but you are definitely paying for quality. Would recommend!

Purposely stayed away from their soft opening BOGO special, who in their right mind would wait not only 1 hour but over 2 to 3 hours for a free sandwich, as evident from the initial negative reviews, some people must have alot of free time on their hands. With that long waiting time I could have driven to Port Hope, watch the salmon run and come back in time to see my banh mi being made. I decided to take a chance and went today before 1130, guess what, no lines, with all the meats, veggies, pate and other unrecognised ingredients it does take them awhile to construct their banh mis, there are no choices, it's all our nothing. It's a small place with 2 tables at knees high height if you decide to eat your banh mi right away. Not sure if I would feel comfortable with people standing over me while eating. Their baguettes are authentically fresh, flaky, crispy and crunchy similar to the ones I had in Vietnam, you don't know how many times I've been disappointed with smaller soggy flavorless baguette looking like bread used in other banh mi places. Ingredients are on full display at their glass counter while they construct your sandwich, I went for the spicy option (minced green chilli) which gave the sandwich not only a spicy kick but also enhanced the overall sandwich flavor profile. Very impressed with the freshness and abundance of ingredients. A good well sized ingredient filled banh mi Btw they only accept cash. My neighborhood is now complete, only thing missing is a Taco Bell

New place grand opening DEFINITELY need to find tune some things. Over 2 hours wait to get to the door not yet order which is an additional 45+ min wait. Despite arriving a few minutes after 11am with already a line out and around the mall. Honestly they should have told people how long the wait is and I wouldnt even wait. There some older folks and pregnant ladies standing in line in on heatwave is not good. 3 hrs front starts to finish. People seen giving up and leaving the lines Initially you were able to get 6 in total for buy 1 get 1 Vietnamese buns cash only, as time passed went down to 4 then later 2buns. Which ment those early birds were able to buy 6 and and everyone after did not get the same offering. They did offer some small medicine size cups of lemonade for those waiting in the sweltering heat. Assembly of the food took way too long. I think all these bahn mi need to be premade if you are offering a promotion. Skip the toasting of the buns just adds to the wait. Promotion marketing wise better to say until sold out have a more organized system as they weren't sure if they had enough for the rest of the day and it was only the first round of people. Unfortunately probably lost a lot of customers due to this then but buns it'self is $ 8.80 each . The promo is BOGO regular bahn mi. Alot of money spend on logo stickers and names. Probably can get a decent banh mi for 5$ downtown chinatown. Food wise only 1 option on bun mild or spicy but mild was running out so was given a mix. Bit of a messy sandwich didn't skimp on the filling the butter and pate was good additional pickled veg , meats were good no complaints really, pork floss, sauce ( fish, lemon grass sweet soy in separate bag with a disposable glove. Located in commerce gates highway 7 plaza next to Coco and tiger bubble tea, ample free parking. Very small store was decently decorated.

    glove in a banh mi

We ordered five banh mis from here and inside one of the banh mi's had a USED PLASTIC GLOVE inside!!! She cut up her banh mi and found a small piece of plastic it in, however we weren't sure what it was, until she checked the other half and we unraveled it to find out it's a glove. We called and the staff tried to offer a gift card rather than a full refund... absolute insanity. So unsanitary and definitely will NOT be back, disappointed.

    Used plastic glove

We found a whole USED glove in a banh mi. This is a serious health violation. They only offered a gift card for us to come back... why would we come back?

Cute little Banh Mi shop and feels like I stepped into Vietnam as soon as I walked in. The owner is super nice and friendly. The Banh Mi was delicious and filling. The bread was cripsy, fresh and soft. You can request for more or less butter and cilantro. They topped off with lots of pork floss which adds a good flavour in addition to the traditional items. Their Banh Mi even has their own specially made bbq pork meat. They drizzle their own special sauce at the end as a final touch. The dripped coffee tastes strong and authentic. The coffee is smooth and perfect sugar level. I really enjoyed the sandwich and drink here. I will definetely be back.

Brought my daughter and her boyfriend who has never had Banh mi before so I had to take them. And the verdict is he loved it he inhaled the whole thing and also finished my daughter's cuz she couldn't. It s a small place. And even smaller chairs and tables. Reminds me of the ikea Children's table and chairs. Hahaha. Service was quick. No lineup. Only one kind of Banh mi here. And u choose regular or spicy. Fully loaded!!

I have been seeing Banh Mi Nana all over social media. I know they are constantly busy so I came after lunch on a weekday and guess what, still a line out of the door. The inside decor is really cute and their seating is just like the one in Vietnam. They only have one banh mi option woth assorted cold cuts and pork floss. You can make it spicy if you want. I ordered and waited around 20 minutes for the order. The banh mi was massive!! You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. I wish they had other options to choose from and not just one banh mi. I usually get the meatball one from other places so was hoping to try it here. Hopefully they'll add more in the future. Highly recommend this place!!

After shopping at Hillcrest Mall, I ordered the following items on Skip the Dishes: - Chicago-style cocktail sandwich - Mexican corn The app said that my order would be ready in 25 minutes. Cool! I took my time leaving the mall and heading over to Topol Sandwich. It's street parking in front of this eatery on Yonge Street, which is what you'd expect being downtown. There was plenty of parking at around 2:30 pm. I parked and noticed a man in a pink shirt, enjoying patio seating steps away from my car. It was nice to see. I walked into the eatery. There were tables and chairs for dining in, as it has been over a week since Richmond Hill went into stage 3 of businesses reopening. I was the only customer. A woman walked out to greet me. I said my name and indicated that I was picking up an order. She let me know that she needed more time. I had to ask her how much time she needed. She said 7 to 8 minutes. She hoped that it was okay. I thought that was an odd statement. I said that I'd wait outside. I am fortunate to be a patient person. If I had a short fuse, I would have not liked the hope-it's-okay statement. I'm more analytical on how things are worded, to make the customer service experience better, especially when I have time to reflect. It would have been better if she had simply stated that the order is taking much longer to prepare than expected, that it would take 8 minutes, and that she was sorry for the extra time she needed to complete my order. Anyway, I left the eatery. What to do on a hot summer day? I didn't want to head back to my car. Instead, I walked over to a bench in front of an orthodontic clinic (it made me think of my having braces on eons ago and that office didn't have a bench outside!), sat there, and watched people walk by as the sun shone on me. I took off my mask. Can you imagine mask tan lines on my face?! After ten minutes, I walked back into Topol Sandwich. This time, I got a man at the counter. I explained my order and my name. Moments later, my order was ready. Yay! He wished me a nice day and handed my order over in a paper bag with handles. I thanked him and left the restaurant with my food. I had my food when I got home. I was thrilled to chow down with a cold beverage. The Chicago-style cocktail sandwich is $16. It runs steep. However, it is so stuffed with ingredients that I couldn't each the whole thing. I had half of it for my late lunch-early dinner, and the other half for lunch the following day. Topol Sandwich offers a fully Halal menu. My Chicago-style cocktail sandwich had Persian beef cocktail sausage, sliced mushrooms, tomatoes, potato sticks, Swiss and mozzarella cheeses, and special sauce. I chose this sandwich because I love hot dogs and sliced mushrooms. This sandwich is hefty. Topol means fat in Farsi. I get it now. This place packs so much stuff in its sandwich that I get the price. It was delicious. The entire sandwich is so flavourful. I loved the sausage, tomatoes, and potato sticks. I wasn't sure whether it would be Hickory Sticks that you get in a bag. Nope, they aren't as crunch, but it's such a fun sandwich that I enjoyed them. It has pickles, which wasn't listed on the app's menu. I had to take them out because I've never been a fan of pickles in sandwiches. There's a lot of cheese happening in this sandwich. It's great for cheeseheads. I would have enjoyed less richness (you'll never see me order a four-cheese lasagna or a three-cheese pizza), but it was still delicious. The Mexican corn was $6. I thought it would be a small side. Nope, it was a huge portion in a round aluminum container. It had corn, mushrooms, potato sticks, all mixed in a creamy cheese sauce. I loved it. Again, it's cheesier than my personality and how I like corn in genreal, but it's corn and mushrooms with potato sticks. It's all good in my books! Other than the tardiness of the promised pickup time on Skip the Dishes, I had a great experience. I'd like to come back and try more sandwiches, minus the pickles. Come with an empty stomach and your appetite! (222)

The hickory stick things were soggy, the meats were just cheap over-processed deli meats (not the high quality kind), and the bread was really dry and nothing special. A couple of Saturdays ago, I had the weirdest veal cutlet sandwich that I have ever consumed. This experience made me crave real veal in a yummy sandwich with marinara sauce. My usual go-to veal sandwich place is California Sandwiches. I have the option of hitting Ajax, Vaughan, or Toronto to get my fix. I need at least half an hour to get to any of these locations. I found East Street Sandwiches on Ritual. My eyes zoned into the veal sandwich immediately. I added mushrooms to it, which is my usual way that I like it. I saw arancini on the menu. The last time I had some was last year and it was horrible. The rice was so hard that I peeled it off as if it were the shell of a hard-boiled egg. The filling wasn't anything to write home about. I ordered the meat and peas arancino here, hoping that it wouldn't suck. I had plans to hit Richmond Hill last Wednesday anyway. It was perfect to grab some takeout for dinner before heading home. The eatery is tucked away in a small plaza with Fat Bastard and a few other places. There were guys cleaning the parking lot, so half the spaces were taken. I waited for two cars to leave this parking lot so I could park. One got out quickly. The person in other one looked so confused and was so inexperienced as a driver that I had to wait until this person got her act together. I then backed into a spot and headed inside. The most comforting detail that I saw on the window was that this place has been kicking around since 1978. If a place has been in business for that long, the food must be great. I headed inside. I was greeted by Bruce Springsteen on the wall. It was cool. An older gentleman was behind the counter. He was so nice. I indicated that I had a Ritual order. He handed me a paper bag with my items with both hands. I thanked him. I could tell by the look in his eyes that he was pleased to see a human being. I looked so forward to eating my food, wished him a great evening, and headed back to my car. I had one other errand to run. After I was done, I headed home to chow down. I had my veal sandwich first. Delicious! The veal as lightly breaded and had marinara sauce. I tend to like lots of sauce. This place doesn't smother the veal with tons of it. At first, I was concerned. However, the marinara sauce was so bright and flavourful that having less of it actually works perfectly. It was the first time eating a veal sandwich neatly. The bun was perfect. I normally look like a kid eating it without a bib. Not here. Yum! The meat and peas arancino was fantastic. The rice was lightly sticky and so good. I normally don't go crazy over rice, but I loved it so much. It's a decent size. The filling was yummy. The only negative that I can think of was that I did not see any peas. Maybe they were pureed? I couldn't tell. It wasn't horrible, as the flavourful meat filling made up for not seeing any peas. I am no longer afraid to get bad arancini now that I have found this place. Such a gem in Richmond Hill! It's much closer to get my veal sandwich fix here. Huge fan! I'll be back for more sandwiches and arancini. (353)

There are a few tables and chairs to sit down to eat or a quick stop for a drink. Service 5/5 The staff were very friendly and helpful. They walked through the options they had and were patient with questions. I really appreciated being able to sample some of the bread before deciding. It made the experience feel welcoming and relaxed. Food 4/5 There's plenty of choices on the menu and everything tasted freshly made flavours are solid and satisfying, and the ability to try samples first helped narrow down what to order. Would definitely come back to try more items. Just keep in mind that some products would be sold out later on in the day, so try to come early in the afternoon if you want to see everything. I had the yuzu and they also have matcha and red bean buns

I bought a couple of buns as a customer since then and I'm hooked! Bun Appetit is located at Commerce Gate. It's located closer to Highway 7. It's around the corner from Kinton Ramen, which I have been to a handful of times during the pandemic to pick up good eats. I found a parking spot steps away from Bun Appetit on a Wednesday evening at around 6:15 pm and backed in to it. It's easier to find parking when it's a weekday, in the afternoon. Bun Appetit's breads are naturally fermented for 168 hours. I liked that all buns and breads are gut-friendly and low on the glycemic index. I'm always interested in lower sugar options. I have sampled these items: - Baguette - Whole wheat walnut vegan bun - Lychee bun - Raisin earl grey bun - Oreo chocolate delight bun - Matcha pistachio pretzel - Whole wheat German pretzel - Yeast loaf with Nutella They were all delicious. They were soft and airy. My favourites were the whole wheat walnut vegan bun and the Oreo chocolate delight bun (also known as the messy hands bun). The former had whole walnuts that were so crunchy and fresh. The bread was chewy and soft. The messy hands bun used dark chocolate. It was also fluffy and soft. It lived up to its name. I had messy fingers just eating a morsel! It has 9 g of sugar, which is practically nothing being fermented. I liked how unique the flavours were. I loved the smell of the lychee bun. I wish it had lychee pieces in it. Instead, it was wine-infused and that flavour overpowered everything. I loved the yeast loaf with Nutella as a dessert option. I nearly picked up a loaf after this event was over! As a parting snack, I got the truffle mushroom one. It was the last one. I love mushrooms. It was super delicious with truffle oil, enoki mushrooms, spinach, garlic, and melted cheeses on top. The bun was soft and perfect. It was such a gourmet bun. I have since returned to get more buns: - Strawberry beetroot - Chocolate arancia The strawberry beetroot bun was fluffy. I decided to cut it in half. To my surprise and joy, it had whole strawberries in it. Wow and yay! I love fruit, but I wasn't expecting so much of it in this bun. I loved it. It was naturally sweet from the strawberries. The beetroot wasn't noticeable in flavour. I feel it added colour to the triangular bun more than anything. The chocolate arancia was equally as unique slicing it in half. This bun had candied orange bits in it. It tasted so good with the chocolate morsels on top and the subtle chocolate flavour in the bun itself. It was delicious. I need to return for more. I have found the buns of my dreams, which sounds odd and funny. It's all true! I paid with a credit card. You can register your phone number to collect points towards goodies. I'll be back. (185)
