I've had offers from other banks that the company I work for does business with but when it all comes down to it, they simply can't compete. West Bank gave me my first loan. Then VP at the Grand Ave location gave me my first note, loan, and carried me more than once. He stressed the importance of forming a relationship with your banker and stressed that while your credit score is important, your character is every bit, if not even more important. Although it was rare, there were a few times that I did not have enough funds available to me to pay all my bills and the mortgage by the due dates. A quick call to the bank explaining my situation quickly alleviated any concerns I had as "we got you covered" was the norm. I should stress that this was a rarity and only asked for in extreme cases. Had I abused it I doubt that it would have been made available. It's never mattered how much cake I have in my accounts, I've always been treated like I mattered, whether my main account had 6 figures in it or a negative balance. To West Banks credit I've always been treated like they wanted and appreciated my business.
