ER doctors aren't their's, they are contracted and separate entities…read more The ER is typical of them..crowded, you get lost in the queue and quality of care is hit or miss. When my Dr went in for an emergency, complicated back problems, top notch (thank goodness) and was admitted to Barrows for surgery with the neurosurgeon highly rated and a concerned doctor giving my daughter a chance...and what an excellent doctor! Still a better hospital than any Banner so I'd recommend them out of that alone, but their rating is in the toilet concerning me.

Nurses aside, the rest of the staff has question marks. Let's start with the gestapo ICE wannabes sitting in the emergency room that ask you what you are doing there and then tell you to go stand in line. They cannot hear a thing behind that stupid glass. Just cover your face like your heroes and get rid of the glass. The doctors all seem concerned on what happened on a test 5 years ago so much more so than a current test result. The high blood pressure from 5 years ago has already been addressed... as you can tell by the current readings. As a visitor, one day I walk in freely and go where I want, no questions asked. The next day a dude runs me down like he's a free safety to tell me he has to check me in and give me a designer paper bracelet to wear. If the free safety is correct, the day 1 staff should be fired for dereliction of duty. Why is it not possible to assume that anybody not in a hospital gown is a visitor? Why is the bracelet necessary? Somebody got paid to come up with this idea.

I want to recognize someone that was extraordinary and went out of his way to help me. I will NEVER forget Mike Kenney-in security! I had just found out my father was having emergency surgery. I raced to the hospital. My dad was waiting in a room at the er. He was going to Pre Op. Mr. Kenney hustled me back to the room-and I was sad to see the bed was gone. He had been taken to pre op. Mr. Kenney could tell I was upset bc I didn't get to see my elderly dad before he went to emergency surgery. He quickly advised me the fastest way to see him. I know this doesn't seem like a lot-but I am forever grateful bc I got to spend time with him right before surgery. I was also there to support my mom who was very worried. If it weren't for Mike-I wouldn't have been there for my mom or got to hug my dad. I am forever grateful. He didn't have to go out of his way to help me. I will say not all staff will fall in this category but unfortunately the one nurse on the 4th floor, Pavilion 2 orthopedic unit RUDE!!! There's no reason to come into work with an attitude when your patients and their family members are helping with their recovery. Thank goodness she wasn't his nurse just a rude one at the nurses station. They always say family is a part of a patients care and the only thing I inquired about was someone to come and clean a restroom because housekeeping wasn't there yesterday and he didn't want to sit on it. If you know you know how some meds will do you. But that nurse stood out the most for her rudeness. I get it, we're all stressed but don't be rude for an already stressful situation. But the other staff I found to be nice and accommodating and made sure I was comfortable knowing I was staying with my family member. Thank you to the staff that showed up to their jobs as professionals. What I've learned, you can't be a voice for the patient and leave the morning crew alone. Terrible!!! UPDATE: My family member wanted me to make sure to give a special thank you to Ms. Teresa in housekeeping, even she stated if the bathroom ever looks like that again to call her. She gave us her card with the number. Also there were a couple of male nurses John and I forget the really tall male nurse that helped him out of bed and the other male nurse that got me a warm blanket and checked vitals. This is the type of professionalism that we look for in nursing. So the nurses that took care of my family member on July 18th! Thank you. July 19th is when he started complaining about his care.

I am writing here to give my 2 cents and some advice. Do not go with United health care. my problem…read morestarted in 2024 when i went to the dentist and found out that I needed some teeth pulled and a temp bridge put in. Needed time for the swelling to go done. in 2025 I went back and refitted me for a permanent Bridge .So far no problem untill i received a letter from the dentist that i owed them $$ . I contacted them and they said the insurance denied them and that I must paid or they will file a refusal of payment. Now the fun part , calling United Health Care. Oh that's not us let me switch you over to the dentist department. Gave them my information and they said ok we see you but we can't see the denial , that's another dept. Back to the first dept and they said it looks like the Dentist put in the wrong code. You must call the Dentist and get the correct code and grievance the denail. Dentist. we gave in the right codes, the first was for a temp and the second is for the permanent. Called back UHC and they said o I see , ok will forard this over. Waited and no response. Called back UHC (and you know I get a different person every time and have to start from the start )and asked what's the story , gave my information and had to start from the beginning again. They said I needed to also send in a request so I started aging righting the story again and fax it to Office and received a confirmation. Waited and nothing. So call UHC and started over with the information and said I was waiting for a response. They looked in notes and see no fax or request. So I repeated the story 3-5 more times and they typed it all in and said they will forward it on and to wait for a response. 2026 and I get a notice of it timing out for the 65 days you get to respond. I call UHC and start from the beginning and go back and forth. The day ended and so did the phone call. The next day I called UHC and started form the start , she said she needed to get someone else on the phone for more information and started from the start. The new person said she could put the request again but doesn't think it will have and just get denied . I said lets do it any way. I pick up the mail and see a letter from guess who-UHC. Open it up and see it saying they were trying to get it touch we me and that the email was returned. Called UHC and gave my information. Started from the beginning again and he said to hold on. Came back and said my request will most likely get denied again and said I can request a outside to exam the case. Then he went on and said that UHC sees a temp and a permanent bridge as the same and will turn down any request as this is there policy. Then have a nice day and good luck. So the bottom line is they will never pay for a permanent bridge after a temp. And as everyone knows when you get teeth pulled you need to wait 6months or more for the swelling to go down. So you need temps for that time. Rich C

As a board-certified spine surgeon, I just finished a peer-to-peer review with a UnitedHealthcare…read morephysician reviewer regarding one of my patients. The experience was deeply frustrating. My patient has two cervical disc herniations causing spinal cord compression. Based on my clinical evaluation, imaging, and the available medical literature, I recommended cervical artificial disc replacement because it preserves motion and is an appropriate treatment option for carefully selected patients. The procedure was denied--not because the patient was not suffering, not because conservative treatment had not failed, and not because there was a better evidence-based alternative. It was denied because UnitedHealthcare's internal policy considered the patient's degree of disc degeneration outside its criteria for disc replacement, despite my belief that the recommendation was medically appropriate. What makes this particularly difficult to understand is that UnitedHealthcare was willing to approve a fusion, which permanently eliminates motion at the involved levels, while denying a motion-preserving procedure that I believe is in my patient's best interest. When an insurer approves a more invasive operation while denying a less motion-sacrificing alternative for policy reasons rather than individualized medical judgment, patients lose. Insurance companies absolutely have a responsibility to control costs and prevent inappropriate care. But those policies should evolve with high-quality clinical evidence and allow physicians to exercise individualized medical judgment. Blanket policy restrictions that override the treating surgeon's expertise can delay optimal care and force patients into treatment pathways they may not have otherwise chosen. My frustration is not about a disagreement between physicians--that happens in medicine. It is about patients being caught between evidence-based clinical decision-making and rigid insurance policies. Patients deserve decisions driven first by medicine, not by checkboxes.

Because I no longer have accchs. They are able to bill accchs $677 for every visit, but now that I pay cash they only make $179 per visit. They forgot to send in my drug tests multiple times! I knew I'd report them to the state board and accchs months ago. I've been talking about all the sketchy shit to my mom and disabled friend for months. So I knew I was going to report them from the start. I am apart of the reason the fbi shut down a ton of sober living homes for human trafficking and double billing. I hate when people break the law and don't follow rules! I'm autistic it's hard to ignore. It's very easy to see when an accchs scam is happening and I felt it happening the second he gave me 10mg oxycodone without starting me on 5mg first. And then he kept letting my pee tests expire and not send to lab. Today the doctor says he is cutting me off pain meds because they don't feel comfortable prescribing them long term. I asked them if I broke the pain contract, they said no. I later get an email saying I'm permanently discharged because I broke The pain contract. They kicked me out of their practice because I am self pay. Discrimination. They're also not billing using correct address' and he's practicing in multiple states with multiple address. I talked to my pharmacist right away and told them everything I experienced and they told me YES this doctor is doing illegal shit. 1/26/26 they said I no longer need to do drug tests to receive my meds, that's illegal. My pharmacist is helping me with filing the report to accchs and the state board. Oh yeah he also gave me a 14 day supply of meds but wrote on the bottle it was a 7 day supply of meds. So I felt like he was trying to trick me or something. I'm not a drug addict so I use my meds properly and this little weird shit he did, did not affect me, I never took more than I was supposed to. But prescribing meds wrong on purpose is illegal as well, malpractice. I've been on prescribed controlled substances since I was 8 years old, I am well aware of how it all works. I've been permanently disabled for 12 years also. And then he tried to get me to do as many x rays as possible before my insurance cut off. He found scoliosis and then cancelled me as a patient immediately. Why would someone do that? He wouldn't even discuss my imagining he ordered. He made me pay $179 to get discharged today. So yeah I knew immediately the second he prescribed meds wrong and gave me 10mg oxycodone right away that he was crooked and I WAS FUCKING RIGHT!!!! If you ever feel weird at pain mgmt ask the pharmacist about it. They can definitely reassure you if you experienced something illegal. Other than that, while I was being prescribed oxycodone for a few months, the appointments were fast and scheduled normally. Just nothing the doctor ever did was normal. Letting my pee tests expire multiple times, writing wrong medication information. Accchs would only allow a 7 day RX and he gave me 14 days and put 7 days on the bottle, so that's called LYING. Lying about how much you're prescribing. All I see is red flags at this place.
