Please reconsider the food options in the cafeteria and vending machines. Limited to no healthy, low carb or low/no sugar options are available. Even adding a freezer section and stocking it with Lean Cuisines or Healthy Choice meals would be a welcomed improvement! Yogurt with low/no sugar and more fruit without fructose syrup is a must. If your get referred to Banner Health, ask for a referral for someone else. I got referred to see some scammer named Nawaz. Drove all the way across the valley to have a nurse take my blood pressure, leave me in a room for 40 minutes, then tell me Nawaz didn't feel like he needed to see me. No other explanation. When I tried to call to get my copay back, they just told me I needed to speak to someone in a different department and put me in a loop of "on hold" until someone would just hang up on me or I'd get a voicemail. I never got my copay back, or any reimbursement for my travel. I had his office refer me to some woman at another Banner Scam center, drove all the way across the valley again to see her and her little team, just to have her basically call me a hypochondriac. I still have the same issues years later. Don't go to Banner Health. Ever. If you have no choice, refuse to pay your copay until you've actually been seen, because they'll steal it and shut you out. read more

So, I couldn't see the doctor today. First, I entered, I saw 4 ladies are at the window. No eye contact, no welcome words. But employees were busy talking to each other. What a terrible place. If zero stars were an option, that's what this hospital would get. Two months trying to fix a billing error they created, over four hours on hold, and still no resolution. They misapplied my payment to the wrong account even though both accounts have the same name, birthdate, and address. Instead of correcting the mistake internally, they make patients chase them to fix their own incompetence. This is one of the most frustrating billing experiences I've ever had. If this is how the hospital manages something as simple as applying a payment correctly, it raises serious concerns about how the rest of their systems are being managed. read more

Worst clinical care in Arizona. Just received 10 emails from Banner telling me to look at care information in their portal. Each email was directed me to different types of information. After an wasted hour I couldn't get into my account. Today I follow up and learned that the information was over three weeks old and useless. When I requested a response from the management team, I was treated with calls transfers to people who wouldn't help. So unless you like to waste time, don't complain about Banner. Their hospitals rooms are so dirty. The sink looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months. The sink in bathroom and in room both were terrible. The floor had dirt pushed up in corners like the person didn't know how to sweep or clean. This was loose dirt mostly. The blinds were coated in stuff splattered on them with about 1/3 inch of dust. I wouldn't go back to this hospital for anything. read more

Was with 2 different friends at Banner hospitals in the past week. LOTS of frustration and disappointment. Communication from doctors was terrible. One friend was in the hospital for 3 days with 2 broken arms and only saw an orthopedic doc 10 minutes before surgery and he didn't even bother to introduce himself. Told us surgery would take 90 minutes before and he would come and talk to us in the waiting room after. 7 hours later we finally got to see the patient and never did see the doc after 4 calls to the surgery department where they kept telling us to wait in the waiting room and he would come talk to us. NEVER did. We have no idea what was done in the OR, but the patient survived and is back to her room. We were lied to by the doc and at least for surgery/recovery room nurses. Floor nurses have been great but communication SUCKS and lying in healthcare is NEVER Acceptable. read more

Banner Health System has the worst scheduling system I have ever seen. No. 1 Issue, they fail to have trained staffing at all times. No. 2, they fail to train the scheduling staff properly. I'm sitting in a room for my scheduled appt and no nurse available that can access a port. More importantly, you need to verify your port. This is a time-sensitive medical procedure Guess who haven't eaten as it requires fasting. This is my second-failed attempt to complete procedure. Sadly, they are aware and continue to fail to properly address such an epic problem. I asked if I should reschedule. I was told he was reviewing my chart/info. When Brandon Jones, PA finally arrived, he was unapologetic - actually resentful. I should have walked out right then. This unprofessional attitude carried through the entire consult. I reviewed notes in the My Banner app and saw a phone conversation documented with me that never happened. Getting medical records is a joke. They sent me a link to access medical records but we need a patient name and dob. We use a third party business to handle our records-they would have no clue who its for. And when I call to ask how to retrieve that information-they cant give it to me. I cant even try to request them again because I have no clue who they are for. We have over 5,000 patients and over 50+ employees requesting information. I get HIPAA but this is impossible. Unbeknownst I was greeted by 2 doctors which made me feel uncomfortable. They went into the appointment with a premeditated opinion and downplayed a serious gas exposure incident that changed my life the day it happened to me. If I could provide a zero or negative score I would. From start to finish, my experience with Banner Health was horrible. I had to pre-pay over $2000 even though I had insurance in order to receive care. I received multiple reassurances that no other charges would be billed, which was not the case when I received a bill 6 months later. Banner Health partakes in deceptive practices and bills for nursing errors. They are impossible to reach to dispute a billing error -- ignoring or responding days later for phone calls, with very rude agents. They do not respond to emails except to confirm they received it, nor do they respond to mail even when sent certified. They only responded after a complaint was filed with the Attorney General's office. In their response they ignored the billing dispute stating it was an insurance issue, which was not the case. They also falsely stated they provided documents that were never received until after the formal dispute was filed. There is zero regard for the patients they serve and they lack integrity. I have informed my family that regardless of the situation, to never take me to a Banner Healthy facility again. I urge others to avoid seeking care from such a corrupt and unscrupulous medical company as well! read more

Adding to the one star reviews here -- excellent providers in a catastrophically poor system. Today's beef is that after realizing that I had not received any reminders for an appointment tomorrow I'd better check online. First stop in the patient portal showed no upcoming appointments-- but noted that not all appointments are visible in that system, so click here. Clicked, oh good! There's the appointment. But where is BTMC? Googled to figure out it's a location I've never been to for a clinic where I've been followed for 10 years. After a brief hold there, I got someone who was unable to tell me where my appointment is. She transferred me to Banner Gateway, which is where I've always been seen. That's when I started typing this. Hold time thus far has been 14 minutes and counting. IT SHOULD NOT BE THIS DIFFICULT TO CONFIRM AN APPOINTMENT, but everything in the Banner system is this difficult and has been as long as I've been a patient. I have jettisoned one specialty group, but have 2 doctors who are worth the trouble. When I need a new provider I look elsewhere. BTW, the estimated hold time was 5-11 minutes. After 15 I got a response and was able to confirm my appointment, the change in location on the portal "is due to a" (completely opaque) "coding change." The person I spoke with was unable to tell me why I did not receive reminders, "but check with registration" (which is always a time suck in it's own right, "we're understaffed," but never offset in the charges). There are three things I look at when going for medical treatment. How competent is the medical staff. How competent is the office staff. And, How competent is the billing group. Every time I have visited Banner I have had good out comes except for the billing group. I just received a bill in the mail and went to pay it online at the Banner web site. When I looked at my account it showed a zero balance. I called the billing phone number and got a recording that there was high call volumes and to leave my phone number to not loose my place in line. So I did. After 5 hours of no call back from Banner I decided to call back. After 20 minutes a lady finally answered and asked for my name and phone number. I told her that I had left my phone number 5 hours ago and had not received a call back. The lady told me that someone would call me back sooner or later. I asked to talk to a supervisor and was told that there were none available. I told the lady that I was disappointed with their level of customer service and was going to go ahead and let the bill go to collections! read more

My niece went to ER on Wednesday April 8,2026 early afternoon with stroke symptoms. She was offered some kind of medication and was told the odds are 50/50 if she takes it, so she declined the medication. She was advised that a MRI was needed because CAT scan wasn't detailed enough. She was told in order to do the MRI she must be admitted into the hospital, which she was and was told an order had been issued for the MRI for later that day, ( which NEVER happened) so she was again told they would schedule the MRI for early morning Thursday April 9,2026 at or around 6-7am. They did not do the MRI until after 3pm only after her mom spoke to the nurse and let them know this was unacceptable! Not sure if the reason of this poor patient care is because her insurance is through the state and or they believe that myth about black women and pain. Once they finished with the MRI, se was told that it was negative on the stroke. She received cholesterol medication, not sure why. Now today Friday April 10,2026 she was told that a heart ultrasound was needed due to possible stroke????? This has to be the most incompetent hospital I have ever seen. The reason for the delay on the MRI, was because they did NOT even order one, when they said they had. She was told by one nurse that the reason the MRI was not done on Wednesday is because she refused a medication that could have possibly killed her!!!! I use them for my health care and my PMD. Called for an appointment in August and could not get in until October. Just to renew my (very few) meds and get a check up. The date and time they gave me was wrong and when I saw "missed" an appointment they said I had it wrong. It would be another 6 weeks until I could see my doctor or ANY doctor. So I tried to book an appointment with another Banner facility and was successful in getting something in 3 weeks. 2 days after booking this, I get a call saying I can't change facilities (Why?), but they will get me in to see my doctor on December 4th and cancel the appointment with the other Banner facility. I go to the appointment on December 4th - that they made for me - to be told the appointment was cancelled. So Banner cancelled the appointment they made for me instead of the one I made the other facility (because according to them, that was not allowed). Now I can't see a doctor until March 30, 2025, and it's December 4th, 2024. I've been trying to see a doctor since August 2024. It will be 8 months to get an appointment and a doctor and the practitioner I'm seeing is not my doctor but a nurse practitioner. And according to another one of their idiotic policies, you can't get your prescriptions renewed unless it's from your primary doctor. How is this health care? This is corporate nonsense. No one cares about helping patients. How can you wait 8 MONTHS to see a doctor with the so called "great health care" we get here? And waiting 8 months, the doctor or NP you see can't order your meds because they are not your primary doctor? It's mind boggling nonsense. read more

I came to the emergency room for issue I am having. The wait time was a little long , but I understand. The nurses and doctors are very good and helpful. I thank them for their hard work. I was place in room #16 where I was laying down for my issue. I received an EKG, C T scan and ultrasound. Each time I return back to room 16 . At 10:55 P.M. I was told I am being moved to another room. Well that was not the case . My wife took pictures of the first room I was in and now here is the second room. I am very hurt that this hospital treat people like this. Now I have too sit in this stall and continue to wait. I am going to need surgery in the morning it's midnight the next day . This administration need to treat people better. The staff that are working here are hard working people who deserve better too. read more

This review is strictly with the billing department. They owe me $133 that I overpaid. Trying to get it back has taking me two months and still haven't gotten my money back. If I owed them the $133 I'd probably be in collections by now. Every time I call the billing department I'm on hold for at least 30-60 min then connected to three different people then they connect me to central billing and their recording says call during business hours which I do and it hangs up on me. I gave one star so I could make this review. All I can say about banner health and all the health that's related to their facility. I wouldn't take my dog banner health. Ever since I was released from the hospital, been on the phone, trying to take care of loose ends that they didn't do. Send a guy home with a wound vac. With no instructions here you go. You're on your own, no extra cartridge or nothing. Only knowledge that I can find is on the youtube. And the tech line number on the wound vac. Shame on you banner health. My friend might have cancer and multiple Banner medical offices are just taking their time. He still doesn't know and no one cares. He is currently dealing with an office in Peoria. As a side note, my computer security program tells me that the Banner website "may contain content that could affect your online security." Bad experience. orthopedic surgeon Joel Lane did a knee replacement on me. Day of surgery, I was never informed they would be using a non-participating provider for the anethesia and I was billed that way. The billing department kept pushing me to get my insurance company to pay. This isn't the fault of my insurance co, it was the hospital's issue. They were never able to provide me with any written consent that I authorized this. When I woke up from surgery, I never regained feeling in my lower leg or foot. When I told the surgeon the next morning, he crossed his arms and legs, leaned against the table and said "it's nothing I did" and that's how he's treated it since. Surgery was performed in 2/2024 and I still do not have feeling. The hospital, sent me home with uncontrolled paid and less than an hour after my PT where I blacked out, they sent me home without addressing why I passed out. Surgery was on a Thursday, on Sunday I was back at the ER with sever pain where the ER physician stated I was not given enough pain medicine to control the pain and I would never have gotten on top of the pain. When I reached out to the Office Manager for Joel Lane and discussed my concerns, I was never given a response. Horrible patient care all around. I had to go to another Non-Banner facility to seek treatment and am now having to have another replacement due to the negligence of Joel Lane for refusing to take the time to see what may have gone wrong. My mom's doctor, MARY KIWI AT GRAND CANYON FAMILY MEDICINE could not give less of a shit. So, we have had to take my mom to the hospital twice now for, what we now know, is COPD/ Emphysema. Not one phone call about her being there from the doctor. Not one informative memo on what to do when she comes home. "We will send her home with a nebulizer (because she got the medicine a couple weeks ago, but we are still waiting for some fucker in the Arizona medical system to give enough of a shit to do their job and get one to her).
