I delivered a baby here and when you go to the main entrance where they tell you to go if you are in labor, you have to hit a buzzer if it is after hours. the maternity staff come to open the door to let you in, when I arrived, I was 8 cm dilated and for me to have to wait about five minutes for them to come downstairs to let me in is crazy and they asked my significant other if I was able to walk , I was still in the car and instead of I'm coming to me they want me to walk to the doors, but I honestly could not walk, my contractions were so bad. The one nurse, I didn't like her demeanor but I understand she was trying to help me as well as do her job, but I was laboring fast and could barely even move. It wasn't my first baby, I have had WAY better experiences elsewhere but I also have all my kids in a different state.. the maternity ward is significantly outdated , rooms ran down and super small. The food was nasty. Other than the one nurses demeanor the rest of the staff and nurses I had were very friendly. I had my son within barely a hour after arriving to the hospital so they weren't able to see what labs I had or hadn't had while I was pregnant, come to find out one test I should've had when I was pregnant wasn't order by the doctor so I had to get the test ran after my son was born and I had to stay a extra day due to waiting on getting the lab results back. I had no issues during the labor process itself, honestly one of my easiest, fastest labors but probably because I arrived at the hospital at 8 cm basically ready to already push. I would not want to deliver here again unless I absolutely had to. read more

I had an Achilles injury and I they did X rays on my ankle (x rays are bones not soft tissue). I was given a boot and told to "just let it heal" by dr Dane Caputo. I went to get a second opinion from a specialist and he could tell before I took my sock off that it was a ruptured Achilles. I think the ER doctors are just supposed to get people in and out as quickly as possible without proper diagnosis. Good thing I went with my gut and didn't trust Dr Caputo. I wouldn't take my own worst enemy to this facility. My nephew tore his Achilles and they gave him an xray when he clearly needed an MRI. Stuffed the ruptured Achilles in a walking boot and threw him out the door. We knew something wasn't right so we went for a second opinion. Looked at the MRI with the doctor and the tendon looked like a pulled pork sandwich. Glad we caught it in time because he could've gotten DVT. We're scheduled for surgery next week. read more

Came in with large open wound. Sat in ER for 5 hours. When admitted, had both doctors say I could discharge. I Just needed a vaccine shot. They knew it was workers comp, so instead of discharging, forced me to stay 24 hours longer just to get shot. They told me I could just come in and get it and go home, but in thebwritten notes said no. Next day, didnt schedule the vaccine until 5PM. Sitting here fine for 24 hours to get a shot I could have walked in and got seems like a $$$ grab. read more

After a month of continually getting worse with my breathing, I finally got to the point where I couldn't eat and breathe at the same time. I thought for sure I might stop breathing in my sleep. I went to the ER finally because I couldn't Breathe and my heart was fluttering. I thought they were so rude and dismissive at the check-in desk. Luckily I was able to fight all of this with a hair follicle test, cord blood and all that but the horrible way I was treated and their insensitive language just made me never wish to return to this hospital again. My husband went for abdominal aortic aneurism surgery this week. We had a very good experience with all of the doctors and his surgeon Dr. Hoang is amazing. My husband had no post op pain and was released in one day. Eric our post op nurse (and house manager) was attentive and professional. All of the nurses involved in the after care were fantastic. My 78-year-old uncle, a Stage IV cancer patient with intellectual disabilities, was hospitalized here after a catastrophic accident on December 18. What we experienced at Banner Thunderbird was some of the worst, most neglectful hospital care I have encountered in his entire cancer journey (which has involved 16 hospital transfers across multiple states). Despite falling 20 feet down a steep, rocky embankment and being unable to stand or walk without screaming in pain, the ER initially tried to discharge him home. I had to beg them to admit him. Even once admitted, the level of care was shockingly inadequate. During his 3-day stay: Nursing and CNA presence was almost nonexistent. I sat with him for 9 hours one day and saw less than 9 minutes total of staff entering his room. His pain medication schedule was ignored, and he had to remind staff himself hours after it was due. No one performed a proper soft tissue or mobility assessment, even though he couldn't move his left arm at all. His fresh surgical skin-graft site, which had new bleeding from the accident, was never examined or cleaned despite repeated requests. He received no hygiene support. His hands stayed bloody for two days, and his gown and sheets were blood-soaked for three days. Hydration was completely neglected, even though we told them he must drink 64+ ounces daily to protect his kidneys after a previous septic kidney infection. Meal support was nonexistent. He was unable to open utensils due to injuries and had to eat breakfast with his hand. When I left for one hour and asked staff to help him order lunch, they didn't order it. Call-light responses were extremely slow or ignored. When he was transferred to rehab, the staff there were horrified by the bloody clothes, bedding, and poor wound care he arrived with. I also never saw a single attending physician in his room during the entire hospitalization. I rarely leave reviews, but this level of neglect was truly disturbing. If you have a vulnerable or medically complex loved one, please be extremely cautious. Our experience at Banner Thunderbird made us feel completely abandoned, and I would never want another family to go through what we did. read more

Th Family Nurse Practitioner in the Pediatric ER at Banner Thunderbird was very rude. He did not introduce himself, just said "what happened, why are you here". Then was dismissive of everything my daughter said. She was sent from Urgent Care. He didn't want to do anything to assess her besides minimally listening to symptoms. I am a nurse and embarrassed that he is representative of my profession. It is sad because everyone else at this emergency room has been amazing- from security to the nurses, but I would not bring my worst enemy if he was the provider! I usually prefer nurse practitioners, but he was not a very attentive provider. We were not the only ones that he tried to talk people out of a work up/ thorough evaluation. If you do need to come here and he is your provider, request a different provider if you w ant a thorough evaluation. read more

I went one evening and had awful care from the nurses- all except one- who never checked in on us, just complained loudly at the nurses station about being short staffed. They also swore, openly complained about patients that had been in that evening, and the place is filthy. My wife had heart bypass surgery in Banner Boswell, excellent hospital and staff. She was then transferred to Thunderbird for a very minor brain hemorrhage where she passed away on 4-11-25. It took me 31 days to find her body. It was in the morgue but staff refused to answer phone calls. As a matter of FACT, since she passed away I have never seen or positively located her body in five and a half months. When I complained to Hospital staff and spent over five months on a personal investigation and finally a communication with the head doctor today. I learned that they the staff and head doctor are off in LA La land somewhere and have little or no idea of what is going on in the hospital they should be in operational control of. The nurses have attitudes, I NEVER SAW OR TALKED TO A DOCTOR BEFORE OR AFTER TREATMENT AT THUNDERBIRD HOSPITAL. As of today it has been five months and thirteen days. When I attempted to contact the morgue a supervisor advised me they did not have a phone in the morgue which was a big surprise to the head doctor. The only way I could contact the admin level of the hospital to file a complaint was via a friend, a doctor, who gave me the phone number but as a personal favor requested that I not tell the hospital administration where I got it. It is not available to the public. Hopefully the State of AZ will l get word of this type of treatment and do something about this problem. I have over 400 pages of reports on this incident plus a 21 page report on my investigation covering specifics that I refused to give to the doctor in charge. I gave them about a third of the info I have. From 4-7-25 when my wife was admitted at Boswell for surgery until 4-11-25 when she passed away I never saw a doctor in any room she was in. When she passed I examined her and determined she had passed and advised the nurse who made a phone call about twenty minutes later. I would strongly advise anyone thinking about going to Banner Thunderbird for treatment any more complicated than a band-aid to find a five year old in the neighborhood to help you out and he will probably do a better job. This is the most ridiculous situation I have ever seen in my life primarily devoted to public service. Many of the statements made in the reports while hardly understandable to a common person reeked of falsehoods. GOD loves the truth! read more

My son has throat and tongue cancer and has to use a feeding tube. On May 6 the tube came out at 9PM so we immediatlywent to the emergiency room. It was very crowded and we waited 4.5 hours before we were seen. Finally got a bed and saw the Dr at 3:30am. He tried his best to insert a new tube but was unable to get it in, so he had him admitted to the surgical section. I made it home by 5am. My son finally got a room at 7am, I headed back to the hospital at 10:30. He was in surgery and returned to his roomaround 11:40. three different nurses came in to check his vitals as required and they were all polite and professional. About 1:30 we asked one of the nurses if he could be discharged so we could go home and get some sleep.She said she would go find out. We never saw any of the nurses after that. Around 2pm I believe the head nurse came in and siad she would give the Dr his vitals and see if he would discharge my soon. By 5pm we hade not seen anyone so I went looking.for her. She was with another patient and said she would come talk to us when she was done. She arrived around 5:20 and said the Dr had okayed his releases around 2pm but she had been really busy and would need another hour to get the documents ready and we would have to wait. She was extremely rude and should have deligated getting the papers ready around 2pm to one of her nurses? We sat their for 4 extra hours and did not get out of the hospital until 6:30pm. I'm not an anorexic pock faced drug addict. I'm an ADHD Autistic and I had a genuine problem. After waiting for hours, I finally had X-rays done. I ended up with tendinitis in my entire right arm, and I got the minimal pain medication and told I need physical therapy. The nurse was not nice about the needle in my arm, and she blew off the fact that I told her it burned, which lasted a good 2 hours after it was injected. I had to make an appointment with my PCP for proper care , who I have been going to for more than 15 years. I was treated like crap there, and put into the leftover area where you put all the unimportant drug seekers. The chair was uncomfortable and didn't even lean back all the way. Learn how to profile if you're going to, because you target the wrong patients. This deserves no stars. read more

I was at this office recently. I paid $200.08. However, I ended up receiving an email stating that the payment went through. Nevertheless, they didn't apply my payment towards the invoice. They proceeded to send me invoices, stating that I owe money, even though I had paid. After calling for 4 months continuously, the lady asked me to provide proof of payment, even though she can see the payment done on my account. The lady from the phone claims that she can't apply the payment towards the outstanding invoice until I provide proof that I have paid. So again, I showed the proof, now they are saying I have to wait 30 days so they can fix the issue they created. This is truly ridiculous. read more

This is the most horrendous ER I've ever been in. There is absolutely no severity assessment! After 25 miserable minutes waiting in line, crying, I was pushed into a "triage" room. He took my bp and temp and wheeled me back into the "waiting" room despite tears flowing down my face. There were a minimum of five "triage tour groups" that came through, giggling being shown this room and that. Do these idiots not see people in varying stages of agony? If zero stars were possible, that would be more accurate to rate the treatment I witnessed from Amit Dhingra, MD. My daughter saw this person at Banner Thunderbird. She went there thinking she could get better care than at Dignity who informed her she had pneumonia after having to beg for a proper scan of her chest and yet they sent her home anyway. However, upon seeing this self-important person at Banner Thunderbird who calls himself a doctor, who spoke to her rudely, had no compassion and told her essentially everyone else is stupid and doesn't know how to read a scan. He told her to breathe normally, very annoyed she was wheezing and clearly fighting to take normal breaths without pain, explaining that it feels like a heaviness on her chest which describes pneumonia if not some other pulmonary issue. He then tells her she is not wheezing even though every nurse can hear her down the hall fighting for air! He listened to her lungs and decided she doesn't have pneumonia; she doesn't have asthma which she was diagnosed with some time ago and prescribed an inhaler. He further barked at her that all of her symptoms are from smoking. How ridiculous for someone to walk into a room and tell the patient how they are feeling, speak to them so dismissively, flat out refuse to listen and recommend discharge after a 2 minute exam! Even the nurses were taken aback by the way he spoke to my daughter and didn't feel comfortable discharging her. Please, do yourself a favor and if you see this so-called doctor coming, ask to see someone else who gives a damn because you won't receive adequate care from this guy. He will dismiss your feelings and speak to you as if you're a piece of gum under his shoe. Please understand this isn't a cultural thing, he is just an arrogant person and his disposition leaves much to be desired. I wouldn't wish this type of behavior on anyone, especially someone who is only going to the hospital to feel better, not be treated like a nuisance. Banner Thunderbird shouldn't allow doctors to practice at their hospital who aren't interested in providing the best possible patient care and should be ashamed this person is attached them. It is clear he's not in the right profession and disinterested in actually helping people get well. Woman gynecologist also went to see my daughter who had been diagnosed with PID and was just told yesterday that her pelvic area was very inflamed. However, the gynecologist decided that none of the tests warranted this diagnosis even though she had not bothered to do her own examination. She spoke down to my daughter, stated some things that even Google could refute like YES, BV CAN DEVELOP INTO PID! This rude lady offered to do nothing to figure out where the pelvic pain and inflammation might be coming from. No differential diagnosis, nothing. She made assumptions about my daughter and treated her as such. All she got from the interactions with every single specialist at this hospital was attitude, rudeness and flat out lies. They have the worst kind of people working there. I don't know how this hospital is still standing with such bad reviews. I should've read them. I regret not looking at all of the recently dissatisfied patients. It's not that they are racist or ageist, they are simply lazy and laziness kills people. I'm no longer putting up with the low quality of patient care when it is in their ability to provide it, they just refuse to. They don't gaf if they haven't found the answer, they will shrug their shoulders, treat you like a pos, send you home the same way you came and collect their check. They aren't there to heal anyone, just line their pockets. All the bad reviews and no improvement means they don't care and so they shouldn't be allowed to operate or treat anyone because what it says to me is this is their culture. Went in for an impact head injury, work related, and everyone seemed to minimize my pain, what happened to me and my overall well-being. No one ever introduced themselves but the doctor, I did not know anyone's name or why they were there speaking with me or what they were going to do next. I am giving them a four because the waiting time was long. My mom got in a car accident (yesterday) and we still had to wait. The nurses were extremely kind to my mom. Our nurse was funny, kind, and constantly came to check in on her to see how she was doing. The Nurse Practitioner took her time at explaining things to us, and had so much patience as I translated things to my mom. I was very satisfied with the way they treated my mom. There wasn't a second where we felt uncomfortable. They were very sweet with her, and made sure to check her completely. They were also really good at trying to figure out the payment since the accident was not my mom's fault. I'm surprised to see the reviews. read more

My family member has had one person with them to advocate for them while heavily sedated after an accident- the staff is neglectful of every patient calling out in pain or for help, they are upset at our family involvement of one person speaking for the one who can't. and do not wish to have family members present. They also have an issue with anyone addicted to anything and they judge cruelly those in their care. My sister had surgery here 4 days ago which was a good experience and the outcome was great BUT Today is a totally different story!!! She's having side effects bad pain and nausea! In a hallway other people are in rooms with curtains drawn but she is here exposed in a hallway for hours.....WTF?! People walking by not asking if she needs anything! The Nursing assistant helping us was more into his phone game than doing his actual damn job. We have sat in a room of puke for over 30 minutes now with nobody to give anything to clean anything up. They sent him back home after giving him meds and all that. two days after my dad went to his main Hospital John C Lincoln cause thunderbird kept sending him home it's been at least a week since he was at thundethird. The lack of attention and awareness is crazy. Thunderbird discharged my dad saying he was fine. Hes at John C Lincoln right now and him being there not even 24 hours they caught that my dad has something going on with his kidneys, has lupus and also has a fractured spine? Yet thunderbird kept sending him home?? Yeah I don't support TB the amount of times they sent my dad home over the years cause he'a sick and has a lot going on and of course TB couldn't find nothing? My friend who is 76 years old was sent there because his blood pressure was extremely high. He went in on Wednesday May 29th and was not fed until Saturday June 1st. At some point he was told he needed spinal surgery or he could be paralyzed. He had the surgery and they sent him home with no pain pills, no neck brace and no walker or cane. He finally contacted us his employers and friends for help! His doctor saw hom today and gave him medication and a neck brace. He is going by car back to Michigan with a friend to be with his family. Have been there twice for inpatient behavioral health hospital admittance and always had wonderful experiences always left there feeling so much better than I went in feeling. They don't talk down to you or to demean you. They have the best beds available of any behavioral health hospital and I have been to almost all of them in the valley. They have definitely the best food selection available of any inpatient hospital for sure. It's hard to get selected to be put in banner behavioral health hospital because they do have you come in and then kind of have people go to different hospitals from there if you don't get admitted to behavioral health banner but if you're lucky to get in there you're getting the best care there is in the valley that's for sure. From St Luke's being the worst banner Thunderbird and del Webb are definitely up there as the best. read more

Recently I was in a car accident and was taken to this hospital. It was less than stellar once I was placed in a room it was very difficult for whatever reason to get the nurses to understand that I was in pain. Instead they just gave me morphine. I felt care would not get any better and probably go down hill even further. I have a fractured vertebrae and all this one nurse could do (ya ya) was tell me to brush my teeth. No real care as far as nursing, so I left and made an appointment with my doctor. I have since gotten more x-rays for the pain I was experiencing in this hospital. read more
