The parking was fine but maybe needed some clarity as there was a restaurant and post office adjacent to the lot. It's a gravel lot basically with no clear signage. Not a big issue but FYI. There's a handful of places to visit within walking distance for eating and shopping. Very small town feel. Inside the office, the receptionist welcomed me and was new but friendly and professional. She helped me get set up on the app (still a work in progress) and gave me a quick tour. The big main spaces were already reserved but the phone booth space was adequate to my needs. The internet speed was decent but there was no ethernet cable for direct connection. The common kitchen area was clean and beverages were available as well as small snacks. Terry, the director for the space, was very helpful in troubleshooting issues with billing and reservations. Pricing was also reasonable for a one-day pass. Military veteran pricing is available. If I came to the city more often, I'd get a subscription because it's very close and isn't overcrowded like some co-working spaces.

Although they took 15-20 minutes per customer for check-in, the staff were very courteous to everyone. Appliances: They didn't have microwaves in the rooms and the only ones in the hallway were down. A lady tried to get some instant food microwaved for a long time but it was down. I could literally sense her frustration as it was past midnight & all of us simply wanted to go to our rooms & sleep. Security: Their RFID cards were down (like completely) except to unlock the room. We weren't prewarned by the staff so my husband got locked out twice while coming back from the car. They didn't have a reception contact number(so weird), so if he had been staying alone, he'd have been stuck standing outside all night. Breakfast: No complimentary breakfast even for members - only for purchase. Not the fancy kind - ready to eat tubs of Mac & Cheese, cereal etc

Now for the bad , I stayed above the firepit area which I thought was going to be cool . Instead all I could smell was cigarettes and weed for most of my stay . It stunk up my whole room . So for the 2 days I stayed that was constant. Also the employees park their cars u front at the entrance blocking most of it so u can't get by . For their whole shift . And there is a huge parking lot but they choose to block most of the customers entrance. For the price I tolerated it and just note to self won't be coming back .

They were all healthy, bright eyed, active and well socialized. Their enclosures were spacious, very clean, well maintained, species appropriate and provided enrichment. All encounters were careful to put animal and human safety first. I've worked in vetmed/animal rescue for 30 years so seeing animals well cared for and accustomed to their handlers gave me confidence Darby Farms is a place I can support. Now to the tour itself: Do it. Book it right now. You get SO MUCH for such a reasonable pric. We got two hours of personal interactions, petting and feeding, with over 30 species! Our guide Ryan was incredibly informative and knowledgeable, even taught us hardcore animal nerds some new facts we didn't know. He was skilled at handling even the squirmiest of creatures gently. It's absolutely magical to be able to touch and connect with animals I've only seen from behind glass in zoos. Thank you to Darby Acres for providing this unforgettable experience

In addition, some free range friends walked along with us humans on the tour and literally wanted to eat out of our hands. Our guides, Maddie and Shane, were fantastic! Extremely knowledgeable about the animals, and excellent at making sure everyone in the fairly sizable tour group had an opportunity to see or feed each animal they introduced. We bought the "Kit and Kaboodle" package which was so incredibly worth it! Some zoos allow you a "personal encounter" with one species, or by holding up an animal and letting you pet it,... but in the encounter room, Maddie and Shane spent an hour or more introducing us to at least 10 animals, all different species, in very interactive ways. We held armadillos, hand wrestled a mongoose, let a tiny monkey jump from shoulder to shoulder between us eating Fruit Loops, fed and high-fived otters, and so much more. I truly can't say enough about how happy we are that we included Darby Safari in our first ever trip to Charlotte!

On the day of the wedding, I was genuinely relaxed. They handled so much behind the scenes and made it all look effortless. I just wanted to give a huge shoutout to Allie and Savannah! They went above and beyond and were such a big part of making the day run perfectly. Rob and I appreciate you guys so much. Truly, the entire team was incredible. Everyone was so kind and helpful, and everything went off without a hitch. The food was amazing (we did the plated meal), the drinks were strong, and the Photo Booth was a huge hit! Most importantly, we had such a fun, unforgettable time. Everyone has been telling us how perfect everything looked and how much fun they had (and we can be a rowdy crew, haha). We couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate. Highly recommend!

From the very first planning meeting to the last dance of the night, we felt genuinely cared for. As two busy working professionals, the structure and support from Wedgewood Weddings & Events made our planning process feel manageable and bite-sized instead of overwhelming. Every step was organized, clear, and thoughtful. It allowed us to actually enjoy being engaged instead of drowning in spreadsheets. Sarah, Virginia, and Savannah were phenomenal. Truly. They anticipated needs before we even voiced them, answered every question with patience, and made us feel like our wedding was the only one that mattered. On the day of, Savannah in particular took such intentional care of both me and Kevin. She checked in constantly, kept things flowing seamlessly, and made sure we were present instead of stressed. As chefs and hotel people, service is everything to us. The attention to detail did not go unnoticed. The team followed our directions perfectly, respected our vision, and executed it beautifully. A moment that meant the world to us was watching the service staff go above and beyond to help my autistic nephew find something "safe" to eat during dinner. That kindness and awareness is not something you can train into people. It's heart. We also loved the intentional use of small businesses throughout the process. You can feel that Alexander Homestead values community and craftsmanship, and that matters. Our day felt seamless, warm, and deeply cared for from start to finish. We walked away not just married, but genuinely grateful. If you're considering this venue, stop looking. You've found it.
