Such a peaceful and gorgeous temple! The architectural details of the buildings are a delight to the eyes and there are abundant places to rest and soak it all in. The day we went was a warm, sunny day with a gentle breeze and blue skies. I wish I lived closer to this place, and wished more people know about it. While it is well maintained, I noticed spots where there were spider and dust gathering on the buddha statues. It would be nice to have more volunteers coming by to help keep it clean and clear away the webs or sweep. There was a monk there trimming trees and clearing the branches on his own. read more

Wonderful location for prayer or meditation session. The first time I went a monk greeted me to be a part of a ritual experience and he chanted a high vibrational mantra for me. I enjoy this place in OC. Highly recommend. read more

I didn't know there were so many Buddhist Temples in Little Saigon when I searched on Yelp! We just randomly went to the closest one from where we were at the moment so we stumble upon this one. I've been wanting to visit a Buddhist Temple for a while now so here I am. I was so impressed that there were so many Buddha statues here. It feels like suddenly I'm being transported to a magical and spiritual place somewhere in Southeast Asia. I would say this is a mid size temple. The one we went to before coming here was tiny compared to this one. My reason for coming here is simply to appreciate the beautiful Buddhist philosophy and to physically be in a space where this philosophy is represented. The admission is free. We were able to come and go. The access to go inside the temple is free. But I assume a funeral service must be paid for and performed by a monk. read more

It's been a while since I wrote a review for this temple but for this one I wanted to be little serious and quite personal of this. Feel free to send any thoughts or words because this is going to be hard to put into words. I'm going to try to avoid being emotional. But I will include a few time stamps of what happened over the temple in the span of days. Wednesday, June 5: The monk returned to Bao Quang temple after the hospital decided that there was nothing much they can do for his health. Upon hearing this( many monks across other temples they decided to visit him one last time. Thursday and Friday June 6 & 7: Although he seemed tired; he managed to recognize a few faces but managed to talk. His fever started to get worse through the day. Saturday, June 8.. It became evident. The news are coming close to him. It got more progressively worst. And the prayers continued for him to get his health back. Early Sunday, June 9.. 12:20 AM- Everyone leaves the ground of temple but 25 minutes later the monk deceased and passed away on grounds age 69 due to the succumb to liver cancer. In conclusion, to those reading please send hope to me as well as my temple. Thanks very much. read more

For a little over a year I was teaching Vietnamese Sunday school here :) This temple is really great!! It is one of the biggest temples in the area and the Gia Dinh Phat Tu and Huynh Truong(s) are very dedicated to the temple. The Vietnamese Sunday school encompasses both Vietnamese culture and language with Buddhism. The kids would start out with prayer, then split into their level of Vietnamese language. Then a nice vegetarian lunch and a little bit of playtime. After lunch they would go into the cultural portion that is determined by age. The kids learn songs or stories with morals to guide them to being good individuals. Some of these lessons aren't necessarily religious, but sometimes just simple like be good to your parents and be kind to others. The lessons get more religious with age. Some of the kids are even involved in dances, which they can proudly perform on special occasions. I also know that the temple offer prayer services and sometimes gallery displays of art. The Master here specializes in bonsais, I even saw a show about him on the Vietnamese channel talking about bonsais. And in reference to the construction, it's basically done now. The parking lot is perfect, so no more dusty awkward crowded crooked parking. I honestly think that last touch completely the temple and also made the temple a safer place to park at. I also heard that the temple gives food to the homeless in the park across the street once a week. When I told someone I taught here, they told me that.. and it made me feel really proud to be a member of this temple. I really love this place, but work and time does not permit me to continue on as a dedicated Sunday school teacher :( Nevertheless I will be back to visit my cute pupils. I miss them so much!! read more

After visiting Que Huang Buddhist Temple, my brother and his wife took my Canadian Cousins (Aunt and Nephew), my Mom and me here before heading back home. Parking: Decent size lot, but tiny size parking spaces though. Just a couple streets down, this Buddhist temple is bigger and prettier, especially, with the gorgeous amount of plants here. It's a nice place to come and relax, especially, if you want to do some quiet reflecting time too. Not as busy as Que Huang (mainly because they don't have a big lot selling vegetarian dishes). Though, they do have more Buddhist statues here, and one of a Buddhist God lying down. (Sorry, no pics, phone battery died out by then). Didn't go inside the main temple since Monks were doing their praying sessions, and so we didn't want to be rude and interrupt their session. I went here for Tet. The place was pretty and had lots of decorations. Parking wasn't that bad except for there is only one way to get in and out. It took us a while to get out. It wasn't that crowded because we went during the day. Also, they are building another temple there so half of it is under construction. read more

I was told it is not nice whenever you badmouth about a monk or temple. Well, I did not I just want to say the truth that was happened to me. I paid $300 for my late parents and lunch services during Vu Lan ceremony. When I came at main temple (NOT even half of people) and wait more than a hours (I was told service, announcing around 11:00AM) but not until almost 1:00PM. Then the head monk reciting buddhist mantra only 20 minutes or so without mention my parents name. After that our family have to ask for food even we already paid ahead. This temple (for my humble opinion) just for BUSSINESS. This temple is beautiful and large parking but I do not think this is a place for your truly you respect the Budda read more

Love this temple! My Mom and I go her sometimes and I feel peace sitting inside the temple. The old ladies who helped at the temple are very Nice and helpful. The monks and the prayers really built a beautiful place with nice garden. read more

Once my brother & i pulled to the front of the temple we were so amazed & in awe!! It was soo beautiful!! Free parking, free entrance & free tour!! Good thing i came today (sunday) cuz they had a lot going on.. Good food & services!! Also go to the tea room!! I ordered the Lotus Flower Tea and it was sooo good! I had to buy some to go!! But yeah, i cant wait to bring my friends & my bf here! So relaxing & peaceful!! And make sure u wear proper clothing! Cuz today it was soo hot & i wore something kinda inappropriate lol! read more

Beautiful Vietnamese Buddhist Temple in Little Saigon. I usually visit during New Years when there's a big ceremony and whole temple is decorated but try to visit whenever I am in the area. There are so many different Buddha statues. The grounds are very clean and peaceful and lots of seating area for you to relax. There's plenty of parking onsite. read more

This is one of the Temple that my famlies/relatives goes to for my uncle yearly passing away praying. I haven't been back here since 2 yrs ago but the Temple has change a lot and they keep rebuilding it and it is getting bigger and bigger. There are classroom for Vietnamese student who want to learn Vietnamese and it is a place for youth to hang out and make friends. It is basically a Vietnamese Center for anyone who want to be part of it or learn. There a lot to see and do there. It is great to see a place to come and pray or if you are not even Buddist then you are more then welcome to come to experience it. read more

Second part of the new temple is being built at the moment, so I don't know what to give comment, but the already built one is pretty nice, spacious and clean. There used to have several lotus ponds but I guess with all the constructions going on right now, they're quite messy. However, it is such a decent temple to visit on a regular basis. The only thing I might have suggestion for improvement is the entrance & exit location. On a normal day, there is no problem. But when there are special days with extremely busy in & out people, this entrance/exit is such a mess. I would suggest to have 2 seperate paths if possible, one is for ENTRANCE ONLY, and the other is for EXIT ONLY. That will save a lof of people's time & reduce traffic congestion + safer. read more
