Delicious! Everything from The noodles to the cucumbers were off the charts! Will be back!

Nicely decorated chinese spot near arborland. We got an assortment of dumplings and dishes. Presentation and service were great, but for me it was lacking a depth of flavor in the dumplings and ribs were a bit too sweet as well. We liked the Zhajiangmian with the added pork. Noodles tasted handmade too.

Came here for my birthday dinner celebration with my family! I really wanted to try it and it was delicious! We ordered the green onion pancakes, jia jia mien, shao lum bao, pan fried shao lum bao, deep fried green beans, and shrimp and pork dumplings. It was a Sunday evening and not too crowded. The waiters don't walk by or check on us so it was hard to get what we needed until food was brought to us (like extra napkins and more chili oil). The decorations are simple but clean and there is plenty of parking outside in the plaza lot. You order using the QR code and pay in front at the register. The green onion pancakes were delicious and light and perfectly crispy! The jia jia mien had a sweetness to it so it tasted different but it was good! It is not worth getting the extra meat (it's just about 3 pieces of beef and not worth paying for). The shao lum bao was big and came in a box of 6. It tasted good and was juicy! The pan fried version of shao lum bao was also delicious and very hot. The green beans were very tasty but a bit too greasy for me. The shrimp and pork dumplings were huge and tasted ok. Not really worth getting.

I came for lunch based on a recommendation from a friend and the food didn't disappoint! I was told there were Xiao long bao and other Taiwanese-style dishes like scallion pancakes and beef noodle soup. To opt for a lighter lunch we ordered the green onion scallion pancake with beef, beef noodle soup, and the Xiao long bao. Food was so delicious and perfect for sharing. The interior of the restaurant was bright and airy and while it's not the biggest space, still plenty of seating. 1 star dropped for the slightly slower service - you order via QR code, but can't pay the same way so you're left waiting for the check whenever they come over to your table. Will definitely be back!

Baobab Asian Eatery is fabulous! We immediately liked the entire aesthetic of the restaurant upon entering. It feels upscale even though it's in a strip mall. Staff was helpful and friendly. You scan a QR code and order on your phone. They must have unique QR codes for each table so they know where to deliver it. The only unfortunate thing is that there aren't fully descriptions of the menu items on the ordering site. We ordered a pork XLB (soup dumplings), chicken XLB, Shengjian pan fried buns (which are actually like a fried XLB), scallion pancakes, and combo fried noodles. Everything, and I mean everything, was delicious. I've had what are supposedly the best XLB in California (Din Tai Fung), Chicago (Imperial Lamian, now Phat Phat), and New York (Joe's Shanghai) and these were right up there! They were also the biggest and meatiest XLB I've ever had. The fried XLB were super interesting - they were fried to a crisp on the bottom and soft on top, which was excellent for holding in the soup in the dumplings. The combo fried noodles clearly had homemade meaty noodles and a delicious sauce. It turned out to be a little too much food for the three of us, but I'm glad we tried it all. The chicken XLB were probably my favorite flavor-wise. I'm already looking forward to going back with friends and family.

Baobao is the best new Chinese restaurant in Ann Arbor. It is one of the best Chinese restaurants I've been to in the Ann Arbor and metro Detroit area for value, service, cleanliness, and taste. The restaurant is beautiful and service was excellent from the moment I walked in. I was served hot tea and ordered what I wanted on my phone using a QR code on the table. The food was authentic Chinese and the portions were large. The beef in the Spicy Beef Noodle soup was tender and the noodles were handmade in-house. I loved the pan-fried buns and wontons. You can't go wrong with any of the noodles or dumpling options. I also enjoyed the Wasabi Mayo Shrimp which were large pieces of battered fried shrimp drizzled with a tasty wasabi mayo sauce. Baobao is a must try if you're in Ann Arbor or Ypsilanti!

I I just drove by this place and I just wanted to get a random food place. And i got baobao. The service was really good. The ambience mascot was super cute and I feel like this place deserves a four star rating.

Soup dumplings were delicious. Ate here with 4 people on a Saturday afternoon and there was a slight 20min wait. Very clean place. Food came out fast. Rating of the food: -Chili oil wonton: 3/5 wish it was more spicy -Beef noodle soup 5/5 -Chicken XLB 3.5/5 basic flavor, needs a little more soup -Crab XLB 5/5 my favorite from the XLB -Pork XLB 4.5/5 could use more soup -kung pao chicken 4/5 would be nice to have a side of white rice to balance out the salty - beef fried rice 4/5 normal staple at a Chinese place -shrimp luffa dumpling 4/5 if you've had har gow, it tastes exactly like that -mapo tofu 3/5 this one fell a little flat for us, felt like it was missing something not sure what

Everything we had was really good. You order and submit via phone from the menu scan. The waiter still comes and brings the bill or you can check out at the counter. The chilly oil wontons were not drenched in sauce like I am used to eating them however you can do that with sauces provided at table. The soup dumplings were very good similar to what I have had in San Francisco or Toronto. A nice amount of broth in each dumpling rich in flavor. The whole prawn/pork dumplings takes potstickers to the next level. The pan fried pork dumplings are in my top 5, a good amount of juice explodes from the dumpling when you eat these, which is normal and absolutely delicious. The beef noodles were solid. Excited to try their other soup dumplings and some of their main entrees. Definitely authentic Chinese cuisine.

Came over to AA specifically to BaoBao based on a Tik Toc review. The food was easily 5 starts and was incredible. The restaurant is new and needs basic things. Regular size napkins are needed desperately. Cleanliness on the soy sauce & chili oil trays could use some work. They served hot tea in a water glass, seems small but a coffee cup would go along way. The service was quick but not overly helpful, our waiter explained how to order but didnt offer any advice on the menu or flavors.

    Shrimp Fried Noodle

This food is amazing! I've been a few times and the service and food were excellent. The only complaint I would have is the shrimp in the shrimp fried noodles was not the best. I would recommend the chicken over the shrimp with the fried noodles. The wasabi mayo shrimp I dream about, it's so amazing. I will for sure be back!

The host was responsive. The food came out of the kitchen incredibly fast. It had that hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant feel. But that's about it. That's the 2 stars. The hot and sour soup got the taste balance and broth right but the ingredients were a disappointment, too much tofu, too much egg, not enough wood ear and/or black mushrooms, scandalously few shredded bamboo shoots (which also clearly came from a can). The wok hei for the mu shu pork was not good; too greasy and again, the ingredients were really inadequate (way too many onions, zero cabbage, scant protein). The hoisin sauce clearly came out of a bottle (way too sweet and flat) and here's the death blow - thick flour tortillas, not those thin Mandarin pancakes. I mean, the thinness of the pancake is the whole point - it is NOT a "Chinese burrito" (a phrase that is an insult to burritos, mind you). The last dish was ma po tofu. For me, a good ma po tofu is all about flavor balance - do you understand between straight up heat from the chili and the numbing of Sichuan peppercorns? They do not understand, this was so overwhelmingly peppercorn that it seemed pretty apparent that someone just equated "hot" with peppercorn and then added chili oil. Again, scant protein. I usually give a place a couple tries because anyone can have an off day. I won't be back. This is a kitchen quality problem, not an off day.

The sweet chili sauce is perfect. Thai Peanut Noodles (4/5): The noodles had great texture and the Thai peanut sauce was delicious. The tofu wasn't really crispy and I personally would've loved the option to add some meat. Lamb Dumpling (4/5): Lots of meat in the filling and didn't taste gamy at all. Limited time special. Shrimp Shumai (4/5): Really enjoyed the wonton wrapper. Shrimp flavor came through nicely. Limited time special. House Salad (4/5): Light and fresh. The soy based dressing was sweet, slightly acidic, and not at all overpowering. Warm Chocolate Cake (4/5): Delicious cake with a warm, gooey inside. I personally don't like coconut or chocolate and fruit desserts, but I still enjoyed this a lot. Creme Brulee Tasting (4/5) : Green tea, pumpkin spice, and ginger creme brulees. Their online menu does not have the pictures that the in store one has and woowee it is a lot of choices of noodles! Amongst the 4 of us, we ordered the pork tip noodle, the Peking pork (zhajiangmian), hot oil wide noodle, beef tendon knife noodle. YUM! The noodles are handmade, handpulled and you can customize the shape and thickness you want! The portions as you can see are massive and the prices are very reasonable! $14/$15 a bowl! My pork rib tips were too tough but still seasoned. I would say their Peking style zhajiangmian is pleasantly less authentic and I liked this version better than the original! It included a braised full egg, and not too much of the cloyingly sweet and intense sauce. We ordered and within 2 minutes we were served fresh bowls of piping hot noods. Our server was efficient, warm, knowledgeable and bilingual. She said I looked like a popular Hong Kong singer, like OMG what a cute compliment! There was convenient parking and it was really close to my friend's house. Highly recommend!
