Great jazz and no cover charge!
    Neil B.

Came to this cozy bar on a Thursday night knowing in advance that I would hear great jazz but discovered it would come with friendly service and well made drinks. Crowd was quite laid back (as are most jazz crowds) and they have a nice backyard! Also loved that there was no cover charge!

Love the ambiance. I'm always here for dimly lit romantic speakeasy. Great selection of spirits and wine. And their cocktail menu features drinks with strong character (if that makes sense). The bartenders are super nice, attentive and give you great feedback. And of course, they can personalize any drink for you. I've enjoyed the Trial & Error (mezcal, pineapple and lime, strong with jalapeño aftertaste). I also love their gin selection. The ginsin (Broker's, pamlemousse rose, ginger, lime, bitters) is a favorite. Live jazz here on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 11 I believe. The one time I came in, it was so crowded, we had to stand by the entrance. Other than that, the place stays pretty casual. Great place if you are a loner like me. Lots of folks on first name basis with the staff. Becoming a local cheers. It would be great if they had snacks as well.

Hurrah! A wonderful cocktail bar opened up this past week. AND they'll have draft beer soon. I'm pleased about having a business on Nostrand, rather than an empty storefront that had existed for a few years prior. It's very pleasant that now I can simply go down the street to enjoy a night out instead of having to trek to other parts of Brooklyn, or go into Manhattan. The space has been extensively renovated. A beautiful wooden bar was made by the proprietor's brother. The walls are painted a deep scarlet color. It'll be a wonderful cozy place for a date night one day. There'll be a garden out back in the summer. Cocktails are $9 and there's a lovely assortment of various bespoke cocktails. We had the Taibo (a lovely sweet rum-based one), Trial and Error (tequila-based), and Chagrin Falls (several types of rum, less sweet). We can't wait to go back!

I was pleasantly surprised by the ambience and mixology. I ordered a inventive drink off the menu called the "How's Bayeux" then went off menu and got a Bees Knees with mezcal. Both were spot on. So glad they have a wide selection in offerings to make whatever you want. As for the ambience, it has low lighting that blends well with the jazz and sometimes old school Spanish music. It all comes together well and I'm glad it's a new addition to the neighborhood. Well needed but also "dangerous" given I'm not far. I hope to be a regular :)

I really enjoyed this bar. Stumbled upon it while taking a friend to Camillo and decided to stop in. They have a vast area of spirits, from all over. I actually had an red wine. I was able to taste it and he even opened up a delicious Côtes du Rhône for me that gave me all the feels. It had depth. It had body. It was delicious. Sorta like me . It was a nicely dim spot. Has a backyard. And it was cozy and welcoming. The one thing I think that's missing is more options on the menu. They have this crazy amazing selection of spirits but very few cocktail options on the menu so I wonder how they would create a cocktail with everything. It's almost overwhelming but in the best way possible. Because options are a girl's best friend! Can I get a heck yeah from the back? The front? The person washing their hands in the bathroom??? Nah, lemme stop playing. But I'd definitely go back again for a glass of wine or for a unique cocktail. It's a nice new edition to the neighborhood.

He was so kind and warm and genuinely treated us like he knew us personally, which added so much to the cozy, homey vibe of the place. The space itself is really cute -- perfect lighting with red tones, exposed brick walls, and such an intimate, inviting atmosphere. We ordered the charcuterie board and it was one of the best I've ever had. It was packed with an incredible variety of meats and cheeses and was more than enough to generously feed our table of four. At a lot of wine bars, I leave still feeling unsatisfied, but this one was filling and so well done. I had the Riesling and it was amazing -- the perfect balance of sweet and dry. And the real star of the show was the grilled cheese with ragù. So delicious. I'm from LA, but we will absolutely be back every time we're in Brooklyn. Highly recommend & cannot say enough about this place! It was one of the highlights of our trip :)

Our server Sam was really knowledgeable and gave us a lot of recommendations. We ended up going with all of his favorites which were the sugar snap peas, the bigeye tuna and gnocco fritto, white asparagus and soked sablefish, the soft-boiled egg and blue crab and finally the steelhead trout. Sam was wonderful to also suggest us really delicious, salty, fresh and wild white wines to pair with our dishes. Everything we had were perfectly cooked with bold flavors. I could definitely taste the care and detail put into every dish. For the smoked sablefish dish, the sauce was so delicious, we asked for some toasted in-house sourdough to soak it up. The pavolva dessert at the end with the surprise paired wine was the perfect ending. I can see why this restaurant is well loved and feel very lucky and grateful that we could have an opportunity to dine here. Thank you so much Sam and team for a wonderful time! The atmosphere was super intimate and cozy, and the service was paced really well throughout the night. Some of the dishes definitely could've had a little more flavor or seasoning, especially compared to how hyped up the restaurant is, but there were still a few standout plates that made the meal memorable. My favorites were the clams, the tuna, and the rice dish, all three were so simple but done really well. The tuna especially tasted incredibly fresh and balanced, and the clams had such a light, clean flavor that worked perfectly with the wine. You can tell this is one of those places focused on quality ingredients and a more understated approach to food rather than overly heavy flavors. Overall, really glad we went and it's definitely worth trying at least once, especially if you love sharing plates and trying a bunch of different dishes throughout the night.

I walked in 29 seconds before they opened and they told me so, and I went across the street to walk around bc I was meeting a friend and by the time I went back they were packed (this annoyed me...slightly....). :-/ However, we were given a table, even though there was some confusion at first as to whether we could have one if we weren't eating. But we did have food! And they were friendly, and the service was unexpectedly focused and tight. I'm not a huge wine guy, but I enjoyed the glasses of wine I had here. The menu was lovely. The small plates were very good, but Rude Mouth has taken *more than a small cue* from Bar Jambon, in Gramercy, the wine bar connected to the Michelin-starrred restaurant Casa Mono - in their wines and their small plates (ham, bread, butter, etc.) Who can fault them, really? Are you gonna hate on every rock band that wants to sound a little like My Bloody Valentine? Enjoyable, serious place, good wine, solid food, nice vibe, no real complaints, worth your time.

I plopped myself on the bar and had the pleasure of making conversation with Elouise and Alejandra. They put in my standard two dozen oyster order and paired my platter with a glass of the happy hour white wine which happens to be their house chardonnay. The oysters were delicious although I must say there was a lot of shell pieces inside, which was very annoying to eat. I don't think this is necessarily the fault of whoever is shucking them. I noticed the oysters they serve have a lot of thin slivers of shell on the edges which are bound to end up in your mouth. Perhaps they can try serving another variety of oysters? Just a thought. The chardonnay was pretty good and service was amazing. The girls at the bar also let me try the Ten Bells red wine which is produced specially for them in Boudreaux, France. It was a beautiful, light, and smooth red blend. As a wine lover, I will definitely be back to try more of their wines on tap.
