We had an amazing experience here! This is speakeasy style bar that is part of the Gage and Tollner restaurant. So walk into the restaurant first and then ask for Sunken Harbor Club. It is a small spot and so worth the wait. Our hotel was in walking distance so we didn't mind being put on the waitlist. We got there too late for food so I can only speak about the drinks but they were wonderful! I am not the rum nerd, my husband is but he enjoyed himself and had great conversations with the bartenders. I loved the ambiance and decor which seemed to be well thought out and was very detail oriented. We would absolutely come back in a heartbeat!

Mermaid cheers!

I love the Sunken Harbor Club. It's a mermaid-pirate-treasure-tiki-lit-sunken-ultimate-fantasy speakeasy bar hidden above an amazing steak restaurant to boot. Need I say more??? Everything here is excellent from the cocktails to the nibbles to the amazing decor and sound effects. I mean they literally play ambiance music to make you feel like you're underwater along with creaking noises for added piratey ship emphasis. They also have random storms with thunder and lightening effects as well to make you really feel at sea! If you stay till last call, they turn the back wall red ("red the mermaid!") and ring the bell. It truly is a fun experience. The drink menu is basically separated by level of potency which is great if you know if you want something light and refreshing versus dark and boozy forward. Drinks from "In the Shallows" will feature your lighter drinks as compared to the stronger drinks in "The Abyss", whereas you guessed, you will sink into it! This is a tropical bar so they have a lot of rum focused drinks plus rum tastings if you are interested. PLEASE order the El Diablo and don't be afraid when everyone else screams EL DIABLO when it is presented to you. Shoutout to Garret, my favorite bartender. He knows his craft and makes an amazing cocktail! Also kudos to the literal mermaid painted at the bar who reminds me of Taylor Swift. She's gorgeous with her over the shoulder gaze and I love her tail! This place is such a neighborhood gem.

The most perfect Zombie made by Garret.

Sunken Harbor Club is the quintessential Tiki Bar. Maybe even better than Trader Sam's and Smuggler's Cove. The decor is next level. It's immersive. Attention to detail is insane. And drinks by Garrett Richard are sublime. Drinks are really an art here. My Zombie was complex, different... yet familiar. All the Zombie flavors represented but elevated! Make a reservation and don't hesitate to go!

Variety of cocktails

My husband tried to go here two times prior with no success because of the long waits. We were able to finally visit! There is a wide variety of cocktails from dryland (no alcohol), "shallows" (normal alcohol), and abyss (a lot of alcohol). The bartenders are lively and certain cocktails have different "effects" or presentations with them. There is usage of fog, disco lights, bubbles, lasers, and more among the nautical theme. Cool bar.

I was about to give a 5 star review until I saw my credit card charge. I got overcharged an amount that's not significant to do a chargeback but it left a bad taste. I will edit this review if the owner reaches out to me to rectify this situation. This is a "underwater" speakeasy located on the second floor, above Gage & Tollner. Walk in only but I went at opening 5pm on a Monday and it was not busy. I seated myself at the bar and ordered the $15 cocktail happy hour special (Mary Pickford) which is a fairly strong drink. It is served in a regular cup despite being a tiki bar, and I surveyed the selection of liquors and cups in the bar and the bartender confirmed pretty much all the cocktails now no longer are served in the tiki cup except for the barrel one. This kind of defeated the purpose of a tiki bar with fun cups and ambience, but okay. The drink was still delicious and strong. This makes for a good bar hopping bar since service is fast and efficient and the drinks are at good prices (specifically happy hour). I do hear it gets quite busy weekends so I'd recommend a weekday visit if you do go.

Sunken Harbor Club is a good time to look at. I liked the moody lighting, the fog curling around the banquettes, and the shipwreck theming, but the whole thing felt kitschier than it seemed to think it was. I kept giggling as I thought of I Think You Should Leave's shtick on "Club Haunted House" and "Club Aqua." Fun as a bit, less persuasive when played straight. The drinks were the inverse of what I expect from an Attaboy or Death & Co-style build, where the glass is unassuming and the palate unfolds in layers. Here the spectacle leads. Gigantic vessels, umbrellas and wild straws, towering garnish assemblies, and ice that looks and tastes machine-made. Inside the glass the flavors skew blunt: strong, a little sweet, short on mid-palate detail, with base spirits that drink like well rather than carefully chosen anchors. Nothing asked to be sipped contemplatively. Everything asked to be photographed. If you want fog, flair, and a themed night out with friends, there is novelty here and the staff keep the show moving. If you are after layered, elegant cocktails, this isn't that bar.

We stopped by the spot for some drink drinks and food after over 75 minute wait. Once we were in, we saw the reason why the wait was so long as the place is pretty small, but the vibes are really tiki.. it felt like I was traveling into SpongeBob bikini bottom. It was really fun and the drinks had a different level going as far down as to the abyss, which means you want to get hammered.. if you're willing to wait a long wait, you could always enjoy a drink at the other restaurant below it and it will be worth it once you make it into the bar.

Hachiko Highball and Batida Dourada (back)

This marine-themed speakeasy above Gage and Tollner can be hard to get seated at! I came here with a friend on a Saturday evening around 5:45pm and we put our name down before grabbing dinner. It was 2 hour wait! Bit worked out great since our table was ready after we ate. The menu is separated into three different categories based on how strong the drinks are. For those who like tasty drinks that are not booze forward I recommend In the Shallows and the Twilight Zone. Loved most of the drinks we tried: Star cycle: light and refreshing Hachiko Highball: good ginger taste Batida Dourada: 10/10! So delicious, refreshing and fruity but not overly sweet Overall love the vibe and would definitely return! Also thank you to our wonderful waiter. Not only was the service excellent, he was kind enough to replace my first drink after I clumsily knocked it over.

Cool speakeasy/bar above Gage and Tollner. Not surprisingly given the name, it has a tiki theme throughout with a good selection of rum drinks, ranging from light to boozy. They even have some NA options, along with a happy hour menu from 5-6:30 Sun-Thurs ($15 cocktails). My partner and I each chose a drink from the boozier section of the menu. They were very artfully crafted and well balanced, though the drinks had a lot of ice in them. Service itself was friendly and fairly quick. Cool spot for a pre or post-dinner drink, if they have the room!

Batida dorada
Jessica G.

Pros: inventive tiki cocktails and appetizer food from the Gage and Tollner kitchen downstairs. I got the cheeseburger sliders and they were delicious. I found the hachiko highball drink rather boring, but the Batida dourada was quite good. Their menu reads like a book, so it's a fun distraction to browse through it. Cons: The place is expensive, and hard to get into due to its small size and high popularity. We arrived at 4:50 for their 5pm opening on a Thursday and there was a line to get in. The staff does some gimmicky things to make you feel like you are on a ship. Having been here a couple times, I prefer the cocktails at Vine in the same neighborhood.

A friend and I came to check out the Sunken Harbor Club on a Friday for happy hour. They open at 5 and people start lining up to enter around 4:30, as seating is limited. We arrived around 4 and took advantage of downstairs Gage and Tollner's Teeny 'Tini $10 martini happy hour before lining up. It is a cozy and intimate space, well decorated to its nautical theme. They have happy hour and a small bites menu. We enjoyed several cocktails; Brain Fog, Zombie Punch, Mai Tai, and The Multiverse. Each was visually appealing with flowers, garnishes, and specific cups for each. The drinks really do very in strength based on what the menu says (Shallows - least boozy, The Abyss - most boozy). We also had their french fries which were fresh and crispy and a great accompaniment. Service was attentive and friendly. Definitely worth checking out!

Crab cake

Amazing ambiance inside! The bar is beautiful as well. I went on a late Sunday night and it was very busy. The crab cake was fresh and melted in my mouth. I paired it with a nice glass of wine. The bartenders were very attentive even though they were busy. I'd definitely come back.

I tried to get into Sunken Harbor Club the night before, but when I put my name down, we were told it was unlikely we'd get in due to the waitlist. HOWEVER, we got lucky the second night by putting our name down a bit earlier. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it turned out to be everything I didn't know I needed. From the music to the lighting, the ambiance, the staff, and even the special effects--it all made for a really great night. I loved how they set up the drinks, going from the least strong to the strongest in alcohol content. The drink sizes were just right, and of course, we had to try something from the menu, so we went with the dumplings--absolutely delicious. The place is small and quaint with a really good vibe. I'd definitely go back.

Honeycomb Hi-Fi Lounge

It's clear this place takes inspiration from Japanese vinyl listening bars, from their menu of…read morehighballs to their vinyl collection and attention to the audio experience. I've made it a point to visit every vinyl listening bar that I learn of in town, after enjoying the shared experience of someone curating a select vinyl list in intimate spaces in Tokyo. Few have been able to replicate the experience, but Honeycomb Hi Fi Lounge comes close. That the space is narrow with just a few seats along the bar and a few tables mimics the Japanese experience best, where you can almost have it so the whole room is having one conversation together. The music is the focus. The cocktail menu is rather simple, and my Stormbringer drink, with dark rum and ginger beer was not anything to write home about, but $15 is pretty low for cocktails these days so I'll take it. If they introduced new cocktails to the menu with more interesting ingredients I'd be more inclined to return, but the vibes overall are pretty good and the staff really nice.

My friend and I each order a cocktail, and are catching up. I'm from Brooklyn, however I no longer live here, and this was precious catch-up time with my friend. Then I get interrupted mid-sentence by the old-timer DJ from his low seat in a corner behind the bar. I had bumped the bar with my wrist (bumped my wrist watch as well, not deliberately) and then placed my hand down (granted- more than placed but definitely not slammed), and he decided to warn me that I COULD HAVE made his record skip. It was the Eagles or Santana (far from eclectic, but that's just me). I'm also 99% certain he turned the volume up afterwards, making it even harder to enjoy the company. After that interaction, I struggled to pick it back up with my friend, because I found that distraction very effing rude. When this "4th wall" gets broken down with service, it is hard to then enjoy the space in an uninhibited state. I am all for the Tokyo Vinyl Bar vibe, and I'm also for also giving talent an outlet to share their collection, but this interaction colored my experience, and I closed out after one drink and went elsewhere. I mentioned this to the bartender, and he was kind to offer a buy-back of a rare whiskey, which I did accept. 5 stars for the bartender, but 1 for my experience. I don't like to be harsh or unnecessarily cruel, but this is what it is. I have visited in the past and enjoyed myself. Nonetheless, I certainly won't be coming back.

It's this almost speak easy vibe behind big dark doors, you enter into a quaint space with small cocktail tables for seating and bar room. The cocktails were simply outrageous. Crafted to perfection with potion bottles used as finishers (yes potion bottles for their perfect witch craft making bartenders!) I think I enjoyed the bartenders work ethics as a concept the most. Sure the place was hitting the nail on the head for any speak easy, specialty cocktail seeking person's dream. But the fact that the bartenders were straight ripping through putting out eclectic drinks, with a smile on their face that was genuine was most impressive. I want to go back not just because I'm in the area. I'll go out of my way for this one. Nice job Sweet Polly!

Unfortunately this place fell very flat. Leading with what we liked: Their mocktail offerings were good, promising a 0.0% ABV which is hard to come across when mocktails are offered. They serve oysters, which adds to that aphrodisiac experience of the oh so 'wow this is a former brothel!'. The bartenders and servers were fast and very sociable with the more sociable customers. The immediate entrance is very tight, and it was uncomfortable navigating the space. We expected there'd be more seating in the back, which there was, but it was limited and not offered to us until we asked for it. We honestly had no clue where it would be and only asked because of how this place was advertised. While it was comfy once we made our way back there, it was reminiscent of a lounge style bar space that almost any bar could replicate with the right room and budget. We didn't feel as though this hit the spot and were let down by this experience. I'm not sure if I can judge the menu of drinks/ foods as expensive, but we left hungry bc we couldn't justify some of the prices. In addition, I've seen a lot of complaints about the volume of the music: it's definitely loud at the front but a lot lower in that back lounge space. It's as loud as any bar's music level would be, but truth be told we were expecting music that matched the vibe of what was advertised and yes, at a lower volume.
