With a line out the door, Bar Ganadara is definitely a hot spot for Korean fusion food and drinks. The drinks are pretty cheap and the food was good. We tried: - Takoyaki - super crispy, hot and tasty - Bulgogi Kimchi Poutine - huge portion with tons of ground beef but lacked bulgogi flavour - Grilled whole squid - very tender but could use more salt/soy sauce - Cajun shrimp creamy udon - loved this. creamy and peppery sauce with snappy shrimp - Pork belly tantan udon - peanuty, savoury broth and satisfying slabs of pork belly - Skittle bombs - Aloe Marine pitcher reservations are highly recommended and you're almost guaranteed to be waiting in line at night. the inside is crowded and is definitely a vibe with loud music and drinks flowing. bathrooms are kinda gross.

Only been here twice but it's an instant classic for me. The food is so delicious. I've also had two of their cocktails the peachachu and yoghurt soju and both were amazing and this is coming from a non-drinker. Highly highly recommend. Reserve in advance because this place is very popular and the lines can be very long. I really recommend the sweet potato fries that come with maple syrup on the side as an appetizer and the pork rib cream udon as your meal. It's so filling and flavourful. The rib falls off the bone. But you can easily eat the udon ribs as your only plate as the portion is huge! I've also tried the duck aioli udon and although very good, it's a smaller portion. I understand it's due to the meat being more expensive so it's fine. But keep in mind if your hunger level is big.

We went here after receiving a recommendation from the barista over at Tommy Cafe. Our previous dinner experiences in the city didn't hit the spot, so we were very looking forward to our experience here, and it hit. FOOD We shared a galbi and yogurt soju alongside some rice. The galbi was on the thinner side than what we were used to, but it still tasted amazing. It was seared and marinated to perfection, and we couldn't be happier. We also tried ordering the bingsoo here, but their machine was broken, so we don't have any thoughts here. They do have a pretty wide range of selections though from banana caramel, matcha, strawberry, mango, and dalgona. DRINKS And the soju? DANGEROUS. Sweet, delicious, and does not taste like alcohol in the slightest. You could easily down a few of them without realizing you're intoxicated. We only got one drink, so we saved ourselves in that regard. SERVICE Our waitress was very nice and accommodating, especially as we were sharing our order. She was also quick to come out with our check when we asked for it as well. This place is definitely geared towards young adults/college students, so if you're looking for a hip place to eat and vibe, this is the place for you.

First time trying this spot and definitely won't be back. Service was extremely slow and inattentive. After being seated and waiting 10+ minutes, the server came up to us and said "what do you want?" So much for customer service! The food was unfortunately really gross. We've tried many Korean spots and this place just didn't do it. Food was over salted, udon noodles were way over cooked and mushy and the meats were low quality. Skip this place. Not worth it.

    Poutine!!! With kimchi and bulgolgi

Wow - bulgolgi, kimchi poutine - the best! Now for something different - Ganadara scores with a wait! Depend upon waiting - but the servers are working hard! A really busy place (food is no wonder good! And crowded, so if you show up at peak times, we waited 20 min, so I've warned you - worth the wait! Make the visit!

The seafood sundubu was tasty and hearty! We also shared the fried chicken (big pieces) and endive salad (nice presentation). Had colorful cocktails. However, would have been nice to leave when we wanted since the resto was not full (seems like they have a 2 hour limit).

TLDR: Great drinking and food spot for dates and friends - cocktails do not disappoint and the food is drool worthy! The cherry on top to this experience is how beautiful the place is. MAIN POINTS Food: I ate through a majority of the menu and drink list when I first visited just because of how delicious everything was. The Lobster Miso Cream Udon is so rich and the lobster tail holds so much delicious and fatty meat - you'll genuinely wish you ordered seconds. My second favourite is the the bulgogi poutine which is the perfect combination of crispy crunchy and saucy bites that pair well with alcohol. Restaurant - Vibes are on point and the place is well cleaned and decorated. Very Instagram friendly! Service - This place does get busy during after work hours so try to reserve to avoid the wait or come in earlier to avoid a heavy crowd! Wait staff is really friendly and informative - making it a very welcoming staff to new and old visitors.

fried chicken, pork rib cream udon, beef bibimbap

We arrived late in Montreal so we wanted a spot that was open late and found Bar Ganadara. Loved the vibes here and it was still packed at 9pm. We ordered the pork rib cream udon, beef bibimbap and fried chicken. I thought the fried chicken would be appetizer sized but it came with 5 big pieces of chicken (and a spice sauce for dipping)! The bibimbap came with plenty of spicy sauce and a good mix of veggies. The beef was good quality, like some sort of steak cut? The pork rib in the cream udon was super tender and fell right off the bone! The cream sauce was very thick though and maybe a bit too heavy for me. Portions were pretty big and pricing was good. Service was quick too.

Went to this place with a large group for an event. I love the cool decor, it makes for a very neat vibe with the interesting fixtures hanging from the ceiling. They are able to accommodate large group reservations, which is nice. The menu is a lot of fusion but also more traditional leaning Korean dishes. I ordered the poutine with braised meat and coriander and kimchi. It was very good if a bit weird to my Asian tastebuds, putting coriander whole and not even diced up was a weird decision. Not sure if they intended it as a garnish or to be eaten like that. The poutine was very filling, so a good value for your money. My friends got the deluxe tteokbokki dish, which came with a ton of rice cakes and also seafood. I got to try some of it and it was very tasty indeed. I would come back to this place since the prices are reasonable and they have some interesting takes on Korean food.

    GNDR Salmon Salad

Bar Ganadara is a Korean resto-bar located on St. Catherine Street, in downtown Montreal, Quebec. I used to go to that restaurant quite often during the summers, and enjoy their fresh dishes and cocktails on their outdoor terrace. Their meals translate really well into delivery as well, so now I continue enjoying them in the comfort of my home. On the menu: * GNDR Salmon Salad (Spring mix, GNDR smoked salmon, tobiko, feta cheese, hard boiled egg, carrots and capers. Dressing: Yuzu, garlic soy sauce and sesame oil.) * Curry chicken poutine (Excluding hot peppers and pickled vegetables) The GNDR Salmon salad is massive, but quite light. It came with very fresh tasting, large strips of smoked salmon and a wide variety of fresh vegetables, mixed together and covered with the light and sweet dressing mixture. The curry chicken poutine is my go to poutine, whenever I need a poutine fix. Smoky, grilled slices of chicken, abundance of cheese curds, great fries and a "to die for" curry poutine sauce, make it for a memorable flavour experience every single time. I order my poutine without hot peppers and pickled vegetables, which usually come layered on top. But if you'd like more of a kick to your meal, that would be a perfect option for you. My friends and I went here Saturday for early dinner as I was intrigued for the fusion food. The interior is absolutely beautiful but since we had no resos, we had to sit in the patio and it was an extremely humid day. I personally found the menu to be vague and limited. For example, it lists salmon poke but no additional details on what it actually includes and this was the same for most of the dishes on the menu. I ended up ordering the poke since I was curious as to what it includes. The dish itself looks pretty but I was quite disappointed. The poke had very very little salmon and the rest was just lettuce covered with crispy noodle pieces on top. With the little amount of salmon, I found this fish to be very overpriced for what it is. My friends also agreed that their dish could have been better and was overpriced. Overall, a great place for insta photos but not the best in terms of quality, taste, and cost.

Pleasantly surpised by their chef's 5 sashimi platter. It had all my favourite sushi selection for $38, i.e. ama ebi (big shrimp), hamachi (yellow tail), scallop, tuna and salmon)! I also had their salmon tataki which i really liked too. Definitely recommended.

You walk in and there's a clothing store on one side and black curtains straight ahead. I just stood there confused for a second until someone suddenly appeared and escorted me through the curtains, down a long dark hallway, and into this intimate, dimly lit bar. Turns out, I had accidentally stumbled into a speakeasy. The space is tiny--maybe 6-8 seats at the bar and a long banquet along the wall for 10-12 more people. No menus either. They ask what you like and don't like, then craft a cocktail specifically for you. The pours are generous and the bar is stocked with top-shelf liquor. About a drink and a half in, I realized I needed actual food immediately and had to leave. The staff was friendly, personable, and chatty, and because the space is so intimate, you naturally end up talking with the people around you. Definitely more of a solo or date-night spot than a group hang. Such a cool, unexpected experience.

I'm a fan of cocktail bars, and after reading up on this spot I made it my intention to check it out. It just so happened that it was a short walk from my hotel, so we decided to check it out one night before heading to dinner. The Cloakroom is a speakeasy, nestled behind a hidden door in a men's clothing shop. In the line of being a speakeasy, the space is small - there are only 24 seats but since we got there right at opening we were seated right away. The space is dark and intimate, with the bottles of liquor lit up behind the bar providing an attractive focal point. One of the more unique features of the bar is that there's no menu; we told our server the types of liquors we wanted along with the flavor notes and they crafted a cocktail based on our tastes. We ultimately had two rounds; my first drink was vodka-based and fruity, while I went with something gin-based and dryer. Both were very good - there's little fanfare with presentation; the bartenders let the drinks speak for themselves. Service was great; due to the setup, each patron is given extra attention which really highlighted the experience. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at The Cloakroom Bar. This was definitely a unique experience with excellent curated drinks. I would definitely return the next time I'm in Montreal.
