    Bellini

The perfect spot to enjoy Venice's own bellini! An absolute amazing view of the Grand Canal from the outside bar area. The outside seating can be very full, however we sat inside at the bar and then were approached by a server telling us a table was opening up. A bellini cost 20 euros but was absolutely worth it for the views and atmosphere. They also brought a snack tray to your table for free, which consisted of olives, peanuts and chips. No reservations for the bar.

We came here after searching for a place to get the famed Bellini. Now they serve dinner, but after reading reviews, this was the spot to come for late night drinks. If you had to choose between the original at Harry's Bar which was nearby, and Bar Longhi... well the latter is the clear winner. The Bellini here was delightful, and a whole lot tastier and better presented than the original. Yeah, it's pricey, but you're paying for the experience. You get to sit outside by the waterfront and enjoy the weather. There's some pretentious like type of people at both establishments, but we just had a better experience at Longhi. It felt too stuffy and confined at Harry's Bar. As many have recommended before me, do come here! Also be sure to use their beautiful bathroom before leaving!!

Yes, drinks are expensive but I've rarely had a better martini (Chicago 51).

Wonderful waterside patio for high end cocktails and great service. Yes, a martini is 22 euros but the attention, the view, the free bites, and the atmosphere all add up to make it the best drink you will have in a while. Our server Marco was amazing: he was quick to signal when better seats freed up, and took the time to pleasantly chat with us about his trip to Chicago, the history of the bar and he cocktail recipes, and was all around a great guy. The only downside was that the clientele around us was a unique selection of entitled 1 percenters with suprisingly bad manners, whom you could tell had never heard the world "no" in their lives.

Upon arrival, the owner was sitting at a table drinking wine. There weren't any people dining, so we were the only ones. The servers and cooks were very attentive. We were immediately greeted and seated while our drink requests were taken. We always choose still water. Today, we decided to try a wine tasting, which included a blend of whites of reds from the region. The waiter explained in detail the type of wine, where it is made, what type of grapes it is made with, and the year it was made. All of the wines were very delicious. Italy takes great pride in their wines and rightfully so. We requested bruschetta and presciutto. We were given fresh, warm bread, which we mixed with salt, pepper, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. The bread was amazing. It had a soft, warm inside and a crunchy outside. Isn't that they way bread should be served? The bruschetta was delicious as was the presciutto. The food, wine, and service were superb. We vowed that we would return for dinner, but alas, we didn't make time to do so. This is a great restaurant!

Maybe he was having an off night. He asked what we wanted to try. He'd pour a tasting and then roll his eyes and wander off, bring his friends their charged phones from the back, and then just look at us. Such a shame, we had hoped for a better experience. We found many other places in this area that we loved and enjoyed their wine. Such a cool hip local area.

Location is very nice, right at a pretty trendy canal, filled with lots of restaurants and bars. Right next to is an excellent gelato place. It's quite small inside with few tables, many just hang around outside - and why not, the location at the canale is a pretty spot. We did manage though to get some seats inside. Our Bulldog was very welcome here as well. The various cicchetti are presented at the counter. There are some classics of course, but also some very innovative creations. We went for the latter. There was gorgonzola with strawberry, radicchio with brie cheese, pesto topped with an anchovie and mushrooms, mashed fava beans with pulp and mashed fava with goats cheese and a cherry. All really wonderful combinations. Our favorite were the radicchio and the fava/goat cheese. Surely something to recreate back home. Staff was very friendly, we felt very welcome here. And instead of focussing on Aperol, Select and Prosecco, it's mostly about white and red wine here. And they have an excellent selection of wine. Not all cheap, but definitely worth the money. We especially loved the Pinot Nero "Terre di Giotto". A brillant cicchetti bar. Definitely a place we come back to next time in Venice.

This is actually a historical Venetian cafe' from 1870's called "Caffe' dei Frari o Toppo"[1], and I remember coming here regularly when I was in college to "study", i.e. to hang out with my friends who would also come here during the day. In fact, this is still a cafe' during the day, but it transforms itself in a cocktail bar at night. The vibe is mellow, relaxed and romantic and this bar prides itself on being one of the few in Venice to serve truly inventive contemporary cocktails. The menu is actually divided by techniques: fermentation, distillation, liquid kitchen, and fat wash. We tried the Cucumber and Fake Rose (fermentation: Fermented cucumber, Andaliman pepper, Lillet, verjus and bubbles) and The Amaz-on Fire (fat wash: Yaguara cachaca, coconut oil, Cynar, dill, house sherry mix and Porcini mushroom; peat perfume). Both were excellent, and were presented in an artful way that doesn't feel pretentious. And if you are hungry, the bar serve their own cichetti (bar snacks). I look forward to coming back next year, and perhaps try one of the food-inspired, liquid kitchen cocktails. ------------------------------- [1] https://www.yelp.com/biz/caffe-dei-frari-o-toppo-venezia

It brings delight and minimizes food waste if guests don't like it. * Le Corsaire: A gorgeous soft green drink. Sweet but not sugary, with a lil bit of spice at the end. It was paired with a blue cheese mousse and honey caviar - I don't know how they did it, but it was delicious. The blue cheese taste makes the mousse pop. * Steven had a cocktail that came with a side of yogurt covered with a soft shell (that acted like a water balloon). * Hispaniola: The drink was smoky and something about it tasted like temptation. Paired with a beautifully done meringue (nice and airy!) and a keyboard-smashingly gorgeous caviar.
