We found this restaurant near our rental apartment and decided to try it. Almost immediately we knew we'd like it...the outside dining was very pleasant and our server, Simona, was very friendly, helpful and patient. (I mention her patience because I speak only a little Italian, and despite the fact that she speaks English well, she was very patient with me as I tried to order food and wine and have general conversation with her in Italian.) After making our dinner selections we asked Simona for a wine recommendation, emphasizing that we did not want a sweet, white wine. She explained that none of their white wines were sweet and thought I had made a good choice when I finally selected one. Before our meals came we had a small appetizer made from beets, a small egg and a little sauce..delicious! Our main meals were wonderful and afterwards Simona brought is a little local treat, some dessert wine with small donuts for dipping in the wine! She explained that they (not sure if this was the locals or her family) used to do this occasionally. We had a nice visit with her for a few minutes after dinner. I highly recommend this restaurant. The menu has a good variety of selections, listed under antipasti, primi, secondi and dolci. The wine list has a lot of options, too. The outside environment is lively and fun, with a nice shade covering and comfortable seating. I could definitely eat there again! Oh, and when you go? Hope to have Simona as your server!

Everything was delicious from the apps to the pasta, meat and cakes. Even the humblest antipasto was incredibly tasty, as if the true taste of every ingredient bloomed in your mouth. Among other things we had the most delicious chickpeas salad (you could never believe a chickpeas salad could be this yummy, I still remember it!), home-made Amatriciana bucatini, flaky and tender meat (not a big expert, so I can't really remember the cut, only how tasty it was) and some great cakes tasting (nom nom). I especially loved that while everything had an amazing taste, it was also very light, which speaks for high quality ingredients and thoughtful cooking. I am quite focused on healthy eating and often when I go out I feel heavy and sleepy after a big meal, but in this case everything was as amazing on our digestive system as it was on our palate! I would also like to mention the service, which was extremely attentive, they would explain the plates in detail (also it was a mid-week day at launch, the place wasn't too packed so they could pamper us) and make suggestions. Overall everyone was professional, extremely corteous and no aloof, which isn't always an easy balance to strike. My parents go there often and I could really see why, so you know this is a place for both tourists and beloved by locals, even because they often have nice events going (mostly in the evenings I reckon). If you are in the area, you should really check out this place. They have lots of parking and are in a very accessible area of the city, the place is big both inside and outside, so it manages to be quiet and pleasant, even being so close to the main train station and on the road to the historical city centre. Bear in mind this is not your average restaurant, so the bill is going to reflect that, but if you are looking to have fantastic food which is both local and traditional, but also modern and inventive, definitely go!

From the entrance you walk down a staircase lined with posters for various cover bands like Bob Dylan and the Beatles. The space downstairs is large but broken into 4 or 5 rooms. The night we were in an Italian blues band was playing and it seemed like everyone seated had gotten there early enough for spots. It's hard to see the band from the side rooms so we stood in front of the bar. This place got packed and if we had moved we would have definitely lost our spot. Drinks are on the pricey side and it got super hot with all the people but this was a great time. Everyone was having lots of fun and it gives you a glimpse into an underground Italian live music venue!

Stones cover band night, Jimi Hendrix cover night, and others. I would highly suggest a visit to this underground spot. A word to the wise, if you want a place to sit/a table, arrive early. This is one of highlights of the time I lived in Rome. (The drinks are band-themed and tasty. They can be a bit pricy, but the general vibe and experience of the place makes it all worth it.) Enjoy your time there (and your time in the eternal city)!
