The Bar S Ranch in Palo Cedro is BAD NEWS and for your horses sake you should avoid this place at all costs. Since the new owners took over it has gone steadily downhill with the horses that are boarded there paying the price. Some of them live in pens with no shade. So do the cows. Most of the horses there never get turned out and stand in a hot barn with no fans or fly control. I watched horses stand for days with blankets on when it was hot out. There is no onsite management. None of the kids who clean stalls know what they are doing. The manure pile is bigger than the barn itself. The arenas are unusable except for one and the whole facility is littered with junk like overflowing trash cans. I have shown up there and there were beer cans thrown around. Its a trashy place all in all and not worth your time or money. The most disturbing thing I saw was a horse with half it's face falling off and bleeding because a fly mask rubbed a sore on its neck. But the owner and the stall cleaners never noticed it so the horse has a massive open oozing wound on the side of its face from flat out neglect. If you take a horse there know that it will not be cared for or looked after because this it not a good facility. It is run by people who have no idea what they are doing and will put your horses at risk because if ignorance and laziness. You've been warned. read more

My in-laws were her first customer years ago and when my sister-in-law had her Corgie, she would take her weekly to Lyn's day camp to socialize and get the Corgie energy out. Lyn has become part of our family, and treats all of us (dogs especially) like we were her own.

This place is great. The care for the owners and the horses are perfect! The owners live on site, and are there throughout the day. The ranch has a barn manager who is also there throughout the day. The owners have put in new sand in the indoor arena to make it softer for the cow horses and speed event horses. Colts that are started at this ranch leave with a great start being super light, and ready to start their next adventure with their owners. Many of the colts that have been started there have went on to become show horses in Dressage, Cow events, HUS, English disciplines and western disciplines. The horses are blanketed and unblanketed daily depending on the weather, and during the summer they spend a lot of money on fly control from sprays in the barn to "Fly Predators" throughout the property. If anyone has any problems about this place they need to contact the owners. They're great people and have owned/been around horses their whole lives. read more

I must say that Bar S Ranch is a GREAT place to board your horses. We have boarded two of our horses there and they both received excellent care. We can show up anytime and the horse stalls are in a great, clean condition, they have been fed, watered and well taken care of. The new owners are awesome people that are very knowledgeable about horse behavior and care. We have truly learned so much from them. I would personally recommend Bar S Ranch to anyone that wants quality horse care. read more
