After years of looking for a doggy day care in town, an acquaintance referred me to Hooked on Dogs. Barbara and Ralph (aka "AuntMom" and "UncleDad") genuinely love dogs and my dog LOVES going there, both weekly for a play day and for boarding. As soon as we turn onto their street, my pup can barely contain her excitement. When I go to pick her up, she is exhausted from all the fun and snuggling on the couch with Ralph. She often looks up at me through the door and gives me this "I'm cool staying here, Mom!" look. Her favorite activity there is swimming. I love that Barbara posts videos on YouTube - and you can tell from the videos that everyone - the dogs and the humans - are having a great time! Barbara has been a certified dog trainer and Ralph was a groomer and they really know their stuff. We were impressed right away with their strict adherance to immunizations and making sure new dogs are properly socialized. It feels very safe. I love that my dog feels so at home with them, so much so that when we go on vacation, I feel like she gets one too. Barbara is great about communicating via email which is helpful for me and my busy schedule. I've referred my friends to HOD and am happy to refer Yelpers to them too! If you are looking for a fun, safe, and comfortable place to board your dog, this is the place!! Our puppy has been attending "Doggy Daycare" here 1-2 days a week for the last 9 months, and we couldn't be happier! Barbara and Ralph at Hooked on Dogs truly care about you and your animal, and definitely treat them like their own! We were worried about socializing our puppy at a young age, so we enrolled him in daycare, and it was the best decision we have ever made. Our puppy has developed into a very happy and social dog, and I know that Hooked on Dogs played a huge part in this! After a day of doggy daycare, it is safe to say you will have a couch potato on your hands! We have also used Hooked on Dogs for overnight boarding, and it is so easy and convenient. Being a home-style boarding we love that our dog is in a comfortable environment and being very well cared for. At times I worry he won't want to come home!! They also post videos on YouTube, which is great for all of us nosey dog-parents, wanting to see what our doggy is up to all day! My seven year old Schnauzer, Annie has been a client at Hooked on Dogs for over 3 years. I could not imagine that such a fantastic daycare could exist. I wanted Annie to be in a home environment cared for by loving professionals. Barbara and Ralph have developed the perfect property and program to give individualized care to each doggie. Although I have moved out of the area , I have made a 300 mile detour to Redding just so that Annie could board with them while I was on a vacation. I would just not trust anyone but Ralph and Barb with my Annie. Both Annie and I miss their great day care services. Annie would really look forward to arriving each day and visiting with her well matched day care buddies. The canine socialization was an extremely important part of her happy life. I was so very apprehensive about leaving my little Annie with just anyone. I just never worried about her care at HOOKED ON DOGS as I always felt that I was leaving her with loving family...... Barbara and Ralph are great animal sitters. Recently, I was providing Barn Hunt demos for a dog group. I live an hour from town, it was the dead of summer, I had to work that day in town and didn't have time to run home for supplies with rat and back to the valley for the evening event. My pet rat, Yogurt, needed a sitter. I know the Darrows from our dog group and they've always had great reviews, as well as being a top sponsor of our group. Figured it couldn't hurt to ask....and of course, Barbara accepted her first rat-sitter job. It was absolutely perfect. They kept Yogurt comfortable and happy for the day. It was very apparent that she was okay with a sitter when Barbara was afraid the rat had died....she was lying flat on her back, totally relaxed and sleeping. read more

Hooked on Dogs is a great option for daycare and overnight boarding in The Redding area. We had to travel into the area last weekend for a funeral and I needed to find a place where our two small dogs could stay. I feel so lucky to have found Hook on Dogs and our babies were very happy to stay there. It is a very well thought out family home situation, and all the dogs there when we visited were very happy. They have multiple areas fenced off, and even a pool in one of the gated sections! Barbara and her husband obviously love dogs, and we could not have been luckier to find them. Hooked On Dogs has been so wonderful! When I first moved to the area, Barbara and Ralph were so kind and went out of their way to help me with my dog. They love dogs and know what they are doing for their puppy guests to have fun and be safe. It usually takes my dog a little bit of time to be comfortable at a new place, but he settled right in here. He is always so excited every time I drop him off and is tired when I pick him up from playing all day. I would definitely recommend Hooked On Dogs! read more

My 3 1/2 year old lab has been a regular at Hooked on Dogs for a year and a half. She enjoys two days a week of day care as well as frequent boarding stays. Their friendly, fun and safe home environment provides her with plenty of excercise and socializing with other friendly dogs. She loves it, and doesn't even look back when I drive away! I tried other boarding facilities in Redding before I found the Darrows and nothing compares to the love and care my pet gets at Hooked on Dogs. read more

We have been bringing our 2 year old springer "Cooper" to Hooked On Dogs for over 11/2 years for his weekly daycare. Hook On Dogs is safe and comfortable environment. All the dogs play well wit each other under the watchful eyes of Barbara and Ralph. They have a saline pool that the dogs can enjoy. As for boarding our dog, I can't think of a better environment for him. Barb and Ralph treat each dog as if they were theirs and they make the boarding worry free. read more

This is my dog's home away from home! Barbara and Ralph provide excellent care and a lot of fun for my dog, Nala. They take great care to make sure all dogs are playing well with others and they have plenty of room in their back yard to run. They even have a pool!
