    Barack Obama Plaza, Ireland
    Pash Lee L.

Had no idea this place existed but apparently Obama and Michelle had come to this part of Ireland to explore his Irish heritage. The massive plaza is named after former US president Barack Obama, whose third great-grandfather, Falmouth Kearney, lived in Moneygall and who emigrated to the US in 1850. This large plaza has gas, shopping, fast food, sandwiches, coffee and tea, restrooms, a visitor center and much more. It's huge inside and was extremely busy. Once you go inside you can take a picture with a life sized image of Barack and Michelle if that's your thing. Great little spot.

    Hello!
    Ryan C.

Would I go out of my way to come here while in Ireland? Probably not - however, our tour bus en route to the Cliffs of Mohr designated this as a rest spot to use the facilities, grab a snack and check out this gas station dedicated to Mr. 44. Apparently Mr. Obama is 3.1 percent Irish and his great-great-great-grandfather was from this town. The residents were so tickled pink when he came and visited, that they created a museum around it. Out front there are two bronze stations, one of Barack and the other of Michelle, and are a must to take a photo with. When you're in the actual gas station itself, head upstairs to see the small, but free museum, with a photo exhibit and news stories that include that famous pic of him pouring a pint of Guinness. If you just so happen to be in the area, it's a fun stop that will probably take 15-20 mins tops. But again, another reason to caffeinate and stretch your legs before you head off to your next destination.

The food area, part or it!

Now here's a secret, and yes you can say Thank you to me! It is a secret that is obvious as son as you enter into the Barack Obama Plaza from the entrance to the right and from of plaza from where the Tour coaches stop but impatient bladders overlook! That to you left as soon as you enter there are stairs that take you to the museum upstairs- and, they have restrooms!! These restrooms are not busy and you can relieve yourself, and head to the museum for a quick look and sign your name in the guest register! I purchased a Greek salad and took some tea from here. Photo ops here as well, as posted! Very clean and bright Plaza. Pit stop for the tour buses, easily can be a quick brunch /lunch stop! Pretty good.

Built after visit of us president Barack obama. Obama ancestor from moneygall.

Exciting as an American to see a mall named Barack Obama on the way to Galway. Ireland. Loved seeing the pictures if his Irish ancestor prominently on display. The food was good, the service efficient and friendly. Good job Moneygall ireland. .

This is one of the few motorway stops on my route home to Clare from Dublin. Basically does what it says on the tin - petrol, fast food, Spar, coffee and bathrooms. But oh my is it tacky, what other petrol station has it's own museum!! Talk about cashing in on the Obama connection. Pretty funny watching tourists take photos of petrol station!! Unfortunately if you are looking for a decent coffee on the road, this is not the place to stop. Watery and tasteless to say the least.

Good place to stop enroute! The name says it all. Excellent location, great facilities, including showers, 50 yards from Motorway. Good selection of fast food joints. Moneygall is now definitely on the map due to O'Bama's visit to his ancestors.

Parking is already at capacity. Had to park in a truck space

Love the atmosphere, but had a little less Barack Obama than I expected. Many food options, restrooms were very clean.

Just another gas station, not much different than any other. Clean restrooms. They have just about any snack and food you need.

Overrated plaza. Brought some chips here and they were stale. At least the bathrooms were roomy and clean.

So we hit the road at 7am to be in Cork for a meeting at 10. Sometime around 8.30, a deep, grumble emanated from the cavernous pit that was my emoty stomach and thoughts turned to food. I was reassured by my colleague we'd be hitting this service station for a bite to eat before we carried on, refreshed. I was surprised by the size of it when we came down the exit road off the M*. It was quite a place. A line of lorries queued for the petrol pumps and quite a few cars were in the car park. But I was impressed when I walked in and saw the size of the shop and the variety of food to eat when I went in. I'd expected to be able to grab a stale scone when I thought about what I might get in a service station. Plenty of fresh scones, muffins and rolls greeted me. As did hot dogs. They were next to the deli and the hot food counter. FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD! I reckoned a sandwich was my best bet so I walked up to the counter and the words "Can I have a brown bread sandwich with ham, mayo and cheese, please" rolled off my tongue like they have hundreds of times before. I knew what to order and I knew what it would taste like. Or did I? Right before my eyes, the server picked up a big piece of cooked ham and carved off thick chunks of meat. Thicker chunks than the Celtic Tiger could have wrapped its mouth around. "Is this real? I'll wake up and realise I've to head for Cork now, won't I?" But as the glorius of Handel's 'Messiah' chorus rang in my ears, she presented the sandwich to me and in no time, I had paid (less than €4) and was unwrapping my sandwich. It wasn't 'til then that I realised how big the sandwich was. I ended up having to save half for later. But it was beautiful. Maybe it was the hunger, maybe it was because it was so unexpected to get a filling of such quality but it tasted exquisite. Thank you, Topaz! There's also a McDonalds next to it but that's not my bag.

This one ticks both those boxes nicely. Could not be closer to the motorway and a great range of food. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the seating area upstairs with comfy couches means you could actually relax and enjoy your coffee. Perfect.
