Apparently this rest stop is one of the busiest in Ireland. Plenty of bathrooms and a few food options. They have dine in as well as takeaway options. The different this Plaza offers is the mini-museum located upstairs. It is free to enter and speaks about US Presidents and especially its namesake Barack Obama. Did you know Obama was Irish? The mini-museum can be covered in 5-10 minutes, so its worth popping up there. There are also more restrooms upstairs should you be arriving alongside a tour bus. No need to make a special trip, but if you need a break and gas, why not? read more

Had no idea this place existed but apparently Obama and Michelle had come to this part of Ireland to explore his Irish heritage. The massive plaza is named after former US president Barack Obama, whose third great-grandfather, Falmouth Kearney, lived in Moneygall and who emigrated to the US in 1850. This large plaza has gas, shopping, fast food, sandwiches, coffee and tea, restrooms, a visitor center and much more. It's huge inside and was extremely busy. Once you go inside you can take a picture with a life sized image of Barack and Michelle if that's your thing. Great little spot. read more

Just another gas station, not much different than any other. Clean restrooms. They have just about any snack and food you need.

Would I go out of my way to come here while in Ireland? Probably not - however, our tour bus en route to the Cliffs of Mohr designated this as a rest spot to use the facilities, grab a snack and check out this gas station dedicated to Mr. 44. Apparently Mr. Obama is 3.1 percent Irish and his great-great-great-grandfather was from this town. The residents were so tickled pink when he came and visited, that they created a museum around it. Out front there are two bronze stations, one of Barack and the other of Michelle, and are a must to take a photo with. When you're in the actual gas station itself, head upstairs to see the small, but free museum, with a photo exhibit and news stories that include that famous pic of him pouring a pint of Guinness. If you just so happen to be in the area, it's a fun stop that will probably take 15-20 mins tops. But again, another reason to caffeinate and stretch your legs before you head off to your next destination. read more

A decent stop on the way to west coast day trip. Apparently Obama came to visit and gave a speech in the town, so they have this plaza to honor him. And they also have statues out front and also in the city. Local said they are very popular there. read more

Now here's a secret, and yes you can say Thank you to me! It is a secret that is obvious as son as you enter into the Barack Obama Plaza from the entrance to the right and from of plaza from where the Tour coaches stop but impatient bladders overlook! That to you left as soon as you enter there are stairs that take you to the museum upstairs- and, they have restrooms!! These restrooms are not busy and you can relieve yourself, and head to the museum for a quick look and sign your name in the guest register! I purchased a Greek salad and took some tea from here. Photo ops here as well, as posted! Very clean and bright Plaza. Pit stop for the tour buses, easily can be a quick brunch /lunch stop! Pretty good. read more

Overrated plaza. Brought some chips here and they were stale. At least the bathrooms were roomy and clean.

This is one of the few motorway stops on my route home to Clare from Dublin. Basically does what it says on the tin - petrol, fast food, Spar, coffee and bathrooms. But oh my is it tacky, what other petrol station has it's own museum!! Talk about cashing in on the Obama connection. Pretty funny watching tourists take photos of petrol station!! Unfortunately if you are looking for a decent coffee on the road, this is not the place to stop. Watery and tasteless to say the least. read more

It's difficult to review a motorway services, since they're mostly exactly the same as each other. However, the Barack Obama Plaza gets a positive rating because of the presence of a free exhibition about US Presidents with Irish connections. It's upstairs in the building and is open to all visitors. It's small and doesn't take long to get through, but is quite interesting. It's amazing just how many Presidents of the US have roots in this small island. In terms of services available, there's a Supermacs for fast food, a deli with fresh sandwiches etc, a Tim Hortons for coffee and doughnuts, and a convenience store for anything else you might need. I'm sure there are some more food outlets too, whose names I've forgotten. The place is generally kept clean and tidy, and there are enough staff to ensure efficient service in my experience. I hope this continues. Barack Obama Plaza, whilst a complete gimmick, is a good place to stop off on the road between Limerick and Dublin. There are a lot of food options, and the museum is worth a quick look as well. read more

OK, I know it's a motorway services, but compared to the other services I've been to in Ireland and the UK, this place is really quite nice. We decided to stay and sit for a while on our latest visit and it was very comfortable. The decor was pleasant. And the girl who served us at the Tim Hortons section was just lovely. My sister overheard another customer singing her praises too. Ok, Obama theme is a gimmick, but it makes me smile and we always seem to leave in a good mood. Recommended, if you need a break on your journey to Limerick or beyond. read more

Good place to stop enroute! The name says it all. Excellent location, great facilities, including showers, 50 yards from Motorway. Good selection of fast food joints. Moneygall is now definitely on the map due to O'Bama's visit to his ancestors. read more

There is a Super macs (Irish version of MacDonalds), Subway and another hot food counter that does carvery style meat and potatoes and curries. The hot food counter but has a detailed allergen list posted on the wall so this is great for anyone with food intolerances. The shop (Spar?) has all the drinks and snacks you could want as well as some souvenirs and locally made cakes. There is an ATM in the shop. The toilets are clean and there is a museum upstairs dedicated to Irish American Presidents. Good for a laugh. read more

I had stopped here on my back from Ring of Kerry to Dublin. The plaza is located in Moneygall - the hometown of President Barack Obama's maternal grand father. The place is hoping, it was packed. There are several fast food places inside, the place is super clean for a travel plaza. There is even a small museum with history of Barack Obama's family here. Seemed like a popular place for local teenagers to hang out. Definitely, worth a stop if you are driving in that part of Ireland. read more

Irish motorways have very few places to stop on a long drive. Perfect place to chill and take a break if enroute from Dublin to the west. Love how they squeeze every ounce possible out of the Obama connection. Lovely visitor centre as well as a Spar and a few fast food restaurants. read more

The only downside for this place is that it appears to be a victim of its own success. Although only open a few weeks, parking is already running at capacity. Inside there is a great selection of food types available from sandwiches to fast food to full dinners as well as a coffee shop. Petrol and Diesel are reasonably priced too which is unusual for motorway service areas. read more

We were taking a tour to the Cliff of Moher. We stopped by this plaza for a restroom break and quick bite. They had plenty of bathrooms so the wait time wasn't too bad. It had a decent choice for food. The people in my group wanted Papa Johns but sadly it was closed. read more

I wouldn't say it's the nicest place I have ever eaten In but very few vegetarian options which I think is unfair however the (cola)was soft and there was hair in my food.There is a couple of upsides to this place for example the toilets;the toilets were all in all clean I do believe more tables and chairs at necessary due to over crowding.This overall is very upsetting because of its reviews but what can you do.I would not recommend this place to anyone read more

As a regular motorist up and down the M7 I frequently stop at junction 14 and Obama plaza and to be quiet honest they are a million miles apart when it comes to service.Juntion 14 staff are polite , friendly ,efficient and engaging ,where as Obama Plaza they are the opposite in every manor.They have no interest in what they are doing, who they are serving and it has the worst service when it comes to food (fast food) .One example was Sunday evening last as I approached the the plaza I noticed the que was quiet long for Supermacs .Having been stuck is this que before I knew it was a waste of time queuing as I could have been there for quiet awhile. I then got into my car and attempted the drive thru. With One car In front of me I taught this will be quick ,but no,the car info to waited for 5 minutes and nobody comes to serve. I then attempted to get served and I was also ignored whilst there was a girl inside the window but she didn't seem interested in serving people ,so hence I also drove off . I hope improvements could be made here and that Junction 14 is followed by example. read more
