We enjoyed how close it was to restaurants, shops, marina, parks and the beach. I would recommend staying here!

Trip was excellent but our flights were cancelled due to bad weather. So we had to get a hotel and wanted near downtown so we could get a bite to eat. We chose the Sitka Hotel. Price was expensive but on par with other hotels in the area. A double bed room was almost 300 bucks. It was clean but had an old chair in it to sit in and a desk, tv on the dresser and a mini fridge with a super cheap little coffee maker on top. Bed only had a single pillow per side but the sheets were very nice. That's where it ends though. In a state where the sun doesn't go down hardly at all you probably would want blackout blinds or curtain in the room. This room had a single curtain but the rod only went halfway across the window. There were mini blinds behind it but they didn't block a damn thing and they were broken to hell and had a section missing. The bathroom had some cheesy countertop, old fixtures and a plastic tub shower combo you'd find at a motel 6. Hot water was medium hot when it worked but my shower felt like I was competing with another room for hot water. It would get hot then cold then hit then cold etc etc. Like all motels these days there's no soap or shampoo it's just the dispensers bolted to the shower wall. The shampoo reminded me of the cheapest shampoo you could buy. Left your hair super dried out and stringy. The conditioner wasn't much better and barely evened things out. Body wash was either empty of didn't dispense. There were no directions on how to get the tv to work and from what I can tell either the cable was out or they didn't pay their bill because no matter what I tried I couldn't get to channels to watch. I would not stay here unless you absolutely had to. It's not worth it when right down the street there's a new hotel that has better amenities and probably not beat down like this place is.

I was in Sitka for a few days and looking for something different to do. I wanted to go out on the…read morewater so I thought I'd try this tour. Even though I live in Alaska and really didn't know what to expect and rarely go on tours, not sure why now. I met Kenyatta, the captain/tour leader at the dock and after a safety talk we headed out. We traveled for about 45 minutes across the Bay to where he has his crab pots in the water, we were blessed with a beautiful day. The whole way across he pointed out landmarks and had stories about each one. He knew so much about the culture and history of the area, it was fascinating. Upon reaching the buoys marking the pots he maneuvered the boat in a special way to allow him to gather the line safely, the whole time explaining what he was doing and why. We pulled five pots during the trip and he explained the whole process. Each pot had a different batch of crabs, some were mostly females, some mostly males, (I can sex crabs now). He explained why this might have been and why placement is important. One pot had over 25 huge crabs and all males (the only ones crabbers can keep). We reset all the pots with bait and headed back to the dock. I brought my binoculars on the trip and saw lots of wildlife, including a whale. The tour was great, the boat was large and very stable, I never felt queasy. Kenyatta is very knowledgeable and has a great personality adding to an overall fun afternoon. I'd highly recommend the tour and a stop at the crab tent after.

One of…read morethe highlights we remembered the most was the Whale Watching tour we had in Sitka from AK Crab Tour owned and operated by a young entrepreneur named Kenyatta Bradley. His passion for his job was reflected in every bit of history and culture he shared with us. His knowledge on whales' patterned behavior enabled us to enjoy our adventure to the fullest. Who knew that whales can be identified by the spots (or lack there of) on their tail? The tour he offers is the complete package; we were able to watch whales in their natural habitat (and sea lion and seals) and enjoyed a delicious crab feast (included with the tour), all at a really reasonable price. Thanks for making our vacation extra special, Kenyatta! Hope to return to Sitka in the near future and we look forward to another whale watching adventure with you.

It really is difficult to put into words how much we enjoyed this trip. We spent a week enjoying some of the most beautiful scenery in the world and filling the coolers with delicious fish. We witnessed pods of whales feeding, brown bear and more bald eagles than we could count. We caught halibut, several species of salmon and numerous other species of fish, as well as Dungeness crab and delicious shrimp. The accommodations on the boat were outstanding and the crew couldn't have been better. The food served on the boat wasn't good, wasn't great, but was phenomenal. The chef and his meals were top notch. I would highly recommend Alaskan Coastal Outfitters for a serious fishing trip or family vacation.

I spoke with Luke a few different times before I booked, and everything he told me to expect, is what you can expect. Luke is a straight forward guy and will answer all your questions. The main stay is on the Huntress, which is a really nice and well equipped 60' yacht with numerous bunk rooms and has a really good chef, Ed, on board. Ed even shared some recipe's with me that have been a hit back home. As for the bears, we had 3 guys hunting, and on the first evening, one of the guys, Andy, killed a really big black bear. About the 4th day, I killed my very respectful bear after a really experiencing stalk. The 3rd guy did not kill. There were opportunities for him to kill, however, he was after a record book bear as he has killed many bears in the past. If you are in the market for a bear hunt, I highly recommend contacting Luke for all details about what to expect.
