The tear had begun four years prior and was not diagnosed during an MRI at another doctors' office when I was living in Boston. Dr. Hohn was extremely competent in handling the diagnosis and performing my surgery. Following an MRI to confirm our suspicions that my meniscus was blocking my knee, Dr. Hohn talked me through my options and the potential outcomes of surgery. Worst case scenario: he couldn't fix it and the torn tissue would be removed. Best case scenario: the tear could be mended and I'd have better function in the future. Fortunately, Dr. Hohn was able to repair the tear! I'm 3 months out from surgery now and am feeling great. The knee feels very stable, and my only limitations are from the remaining muscle atrophy. I highly recommend Dr. Hohn. While I am not an MD, I am a PhD in biology, and I can say from my interactions with him that this doctor has a firm grasp on the most modern methods and research in orthopedic surgery. That said, his demeanor can be a bit academic and reserved, so he may be off-putting to some people (see the previous review). If you know the right questions to ask, Dr. Hohn has the knowledge and patience to help you understand your particular situation.

"Depends if the people ahead of you have a lot of questions or need an X-ray." Um, are you hoping for people who ask no questions about their own medical condition? No explanation of how they were going to see us well after their closing time. No "sorry," which I guess would've been hypocritical anyway. By that point, I had checked Yelp and found it was par for the course, and sure enough, it was just another day of grossly overbooking the place at the expense of patients' time. We canceled soon after and left without being seen for a painful injury. Wish I could send them a bill for our time.

Wow, that was easy, and what a relief! The only fly in the ointment was that the hilariously short physical exam, and total interaction gave me a very bad feeling... and my symptoms were totally inconsistent with tendonitis. So I sought a second opinion. The second Dr. did a much longer, thorough physical exam, and explained that he thought it was a torn labrum, but that it should be definitively confirmed with an MRI. An MRI definitively confirmed that I had a torn labrum, a completely unrelated condition to tendonitis, which is treated completely differently. Is Dr. Reynolds grossly incompetent, or simply criminally negligent? I can only speculate, but that question will be answered in a court of law. If you read this, I pray that you head this warning, and do not take chances with your most precious asset in life, your health, with Dr. Reynolds.

He treated me twice before telling me I needed surgery. When I told him I only had Medicruz, he flipped and said I should ask my parents for the money to pay forr the surgery. I told him I was 22 and that I was an adult and my parents did not support me. He then commented about the Los Angeles Athletic Club sweatshirt I was wearing and how I could afford a membership there, I should be able to afford his bill. It was my roommates sweatshirt. He ended up doing the surgery, but we never spoke again from that day until recently. I had broken my arm and saw two Doctors who said I needed to be patient. I reluctantly went to him and he said I needed surgery and his associate would do the surgery. The associate did a fantastic job. When I went to Fogels staff to get a note asking that my "Domestic Partner" justify with his employer why he needed two days off (unpaid), his staff said to write up a note and that they could get him to sign it for me. Once they saw that my "DP" was a guy, they told me he didn't, nor did his associate sign off on these for "anyone". They then proceeded to tell me they thought I was asking for a note for myself, not my partner. They also tried to tell me that I would not need ANY assistance after the surgery. When I bypassed Fogels staff and went to his associates head nurse, It turns out that his associate had no issues with us being gay and signed off for two weeks of FMLA for my partner. It seems Fogel's staff needs to be enlightened that FMLA is something the Government put in place for this very reason and that it isn't up to the Doctor to choose who he feels is worthy of qualifying for FMLA.
