Stop hesitating or debating over whether you think you *need* a wedding planner....You NEED Abby! I found Abby in perfect time -- about two months before my wedding -- and she was a true God-send! Immediately from the start, she made me feel calm and made me feel like everything was going to be okay -- and it was! We sat down together about a month before the big day and we went through EVERYTHING together: who my vendors were, what I had for a schedule so far, what my vision was for the decor, what my vision was in general, my to-do list, etc. There were big holes in my wedding to-do list and Abby stepped right up to the plate. She rolled up her sleeves and got to work in helping me finish all of the last-minute planning details that I just didn't have the time for. She called all of my vendors, confirmed their services and arrival times, sent them each schedules, and helped me figure out a transportation schedule for my wedding guests. Fast-forward to the day of the wedding. It's early. I'm inside the venue (where my family and I also stayed the night), just waking up, and I look out my window. There's Abby, coffee in hand, getting right to work with setting things up. A couple of hours later, while I'm getting my hair done, Abby comes in to check on me and make sure I feel good and have everything I need. I peek outside the window and our reception area is looking fabulous! I've never felt so RELAXED...I knew my wedding was totally handled and there was nothing for me to worry about. I just had to drink my wine and enjoy my day :) If there were any problems on my wedding day, I didn't have a clue. She always had her clipboard in hand with all of the details, schedule, phone numbers...everything at her fingertips. My mom and mom-in-law were always asking her questions, needing this, needing that, and while I was rolling my eyes at them, she handled all of their questions, favors, and needs with grace and a genuine smile. Throughout the wedding evening and in the days, even weeks after the wedding, all of my guests were saying that my wedding was truly the best they'd ever been to -- all of that praise honestly goes right to Abby. Also, on top of all of this, Abby is just a really cool person! She's got such an interesting background and is just a lot of fun to be around -- which made it easy to have her be with me on wedding day. If you'll take anything away from reading this review, it's two things: 1) Let's face it, you're reading reviews for wedding planners -- so you NEED a wedding planner and 2) That wedding planner should be Abby. Unreliable, inconsiderate, and grossly lacking in professionalism…read more I sought out Uplyte back in September 2010 to do the lighting for my wedding in April 2011. An estimate was drawn up and we established a plan to meet two months later in late November to do a demo of the lighting at my wedding venue. Now keep in mind that I'm from San Francisco, CA and the wedding in Florida is a destination wedding so I am not local and can only fly out a few times. We meet in November only for Uplyte to tell me on the day of the supposed demo that they can't do the demo because they have another event and have no lights to show. Since we intended to come out one more time, we were flexible and figured we'd catch them on the next go round. So in early January, we set up a meeting time for February 21st to do the demo again. Uplyte waited until Thursday the 17th (1 day before we were slated to fly out to Florida) to inform us that they are not open on Presidents day, even though we had made the appointment for the 21st back in early January and they knew we were flying out for our last vendor visit. So on two occasions we flew out to Florida (5+ hour flight) and they canceled with little or no notice. It's now less than two months before the wedding, wish us luck in finding a new lighting company for our event. We didn't get so much as an apology from this company and I have to say I haven't experienced this level of unprofessionalism ever. I guess doing your homework seven months early doesn't really payoff all the time. Hope this helps the next person/business - Cheers!
