I've recently lost 80 lbs and was needing new bras and a proper bra fitting. I was greeted as soon as I walked into the store by Jeanie. She welcomed me, and introduced herself right away, and had put me in a fitting room. She started off with my fitting, and had asked what style of bras I like, and colors. Jeanie even told me how to care for my bras, how to launder them, and shared great tips on prolonging my purchase. I loved my experience, Jeanie- my bra fitter and my purchase. Wouldn't even dignify them for a 1 rating. Have never done business with them & never will!! I called this morning & asked where they were located and clerk spouted off their address! I knew the address just wanted to know their location! After telling me that she told me that I would need an appt. I stayed on the line while looking at my calendar. She proceeded talking to the person she was helping, never acknowledged me again & hung up on me! Very poor customer service!! read more

Stopped in a couple weeks ago with my wife. She enjoyed the initial experience but after getting the bras home and wearing them for more then a couple minutes she determined she didn't like the fit and wanted to return them. We were well within the 30 day timeframe but they refused saying if you wore them they cannot accept them so apparently the return policy is not entirely as it is stated. Additionally the reception towards male patrons is less than inviting. I get men are not the store's primary customer but as a husband I do expect to need to make a purchase or two every so often for my wife. Certainly not happy with our overall experience and it is unlikely that we will be back. read more

I purchased 2 bras there in June. 35 days after purchase the underwire on both sides of one bra poked through. I called the store and was informed of the 30 day return/exchange policy. The person I spoke with was "kind" enough to tell me how to fix it. Great. So, I spent $70+ on a bra that I wore for a month that I now have to fix if I want to keep wearing it. That's fine, I will just not be purchasing from them again. I can find the same bras on Amazon for less $$$ ( yes, I checked) and Amazon has a better return policy. The fitting was great, and accurate, so my advise would be to go and get fitted, and then buy off Amazon. ( which is what a friend suggested to me originally, but I felt "bad" about doing. I would give this store no stars if that was possible. I went into Barbara's to purchase post mastopexy (breast lift) bras. I tried other stores and was frustrated with the process of attempting to find my new correct size. I had visited and purchased bras in the past from Barbara's and was happy with my experience so I decided I needed a bra fitting. I stopped in around 130pm and no one was in the store front. I looked around a little and heard employees in the back talking and laughing, but no one come out. I continued to look around and the phone begin to ring and an employer exited one of the fitting rooms to answer the phone. She looked at me but never acknowledged me or ask if I needed help or offered to get another employee. I stand there kinda stunned an thought she would come back out to assist me, but never did. I spent about 10-15 minutes just looking around and no one ever assisted me. Finally I decided I had enough and walked out. Once I was in my car an employee come to the door and stuck her head out, but I left anyways and will never return. This is terrible customer service and the employees should be ashamed of themselves for such bad customer service. I hope they work on commission because I intended to replace my entire bra collection on this visit. read more

I have heard other women with very mixed reviews about this place. I know some women who were rushed in, and are sold the wrong size. They have sold people the wrong sizes before, and they seem to push people out the door as quick as they come in. The experience I am sharing is when I went with another friend for a fitting, they put her in too big of a band, too small a cup. They were too eager to sell stuff that does not fit,rather than what does. I've also personally seen one of the fitters be rude to some of their customers, They also don't offer free fitting service. You have to throw money down to even get fit, but that counts towards your bra. Sometimes there is coupons for a free fitting but I wouldn't bother because you will probably end up in the wrong size anyway. My suggestion instead is check out A Sophisticated Pair in North Carolina. They offer free bra help, and don't demand anything for service. I always buy online to avoid this place. read more

I have gotten all my bras at Barbaras for the past 10 years. I have been very please with them. The past 5 bras I have purchased have been a nightmare. The wires come out within the first few weeks (and yes I hand wash them and yes I use their expensive soap they push on you) one of the lacy bras I got ripped on the second wear. The last time the girl measured me at a 33' band, so I asked for a 32 because, the band stretches and I didn't want my boobs falling out of the bottom in 2 weeks. She brought me what I thought was a 32, it fit, so I said I would take it. She cut the tags, I got dressed, paid and left. That evening when I took my bra off, I realized it was a 34 band. So after a month, it's stretched out, even on the tightest hook and I've just wasted $90! Because they won't do any returns OR exchanges. I suggest going in and trying on the bras, figuring out which one works best and ordering it online. It's cheaper and amazon will do returns! read more

I've recently lost 115 lbs. I was in desperate need of bras that fit, and supported the new, and not so firm, cleavage. I was greeted upon arrival, and ushered I to a fitting room. I Was helped by a veteran fitter, and asked if a trainee could accompany her. They were both very professional, helpful, and I ended up with 3 new bras, that I am very pleased with. I have been buying all my bras at Barbara's New Beginnings for many years and have always had great customer service. They have the widest selection of bras in the area and are trained to fit bras properly. I'm sorry to hear that others haven't had a good experience but suggest they give Barbara's one more try. read more

Stay away..... They'll special order your bras (making you pay for them up front) and then when the bras arrive and don't fit correctly -- it's your problem not theres. Even though a "professional fitter" fitted you. I've never, ever been treated like that before in a store and I'll never walk through their doors again. I work in a customer based environment and would be fired on the spot had I treated a customer in such a way. I tell everyone NOT to go there. read more
