My favorite girl quit cutting hair at a nearby establishment. I tried to stick it out but had a horrible experience, so decided to give Barberland a shot since it was a stones throw from my old barber. The place is small and chill, no fancy free drinks like other places but I never feel like drinking anything in a place with a bunch of loose hair floating around anyways. The employees were very nice and my barber went to work with minimal chit chat which I appreciate. But then the boss walked by and made some comment which seemed to encourage her to start making small talk. I like my barbers like my Uber drivers, quiet - play some music and get the job done, I'm not looking to build a relationship. Maybe I'm missing out, but I'm happy living as an introvert. After the haircut came the shampoo which was alright I guess. The shampoo/conditioner had a scent that I didn't really love or hate. She finished up the cut and honestly I was a little disappointed in it. The disappointment was reinforced by the boss telling me how good it looked. It just seemed forced or fake. I want a professional with experience to guide me in the right direction--but that's so hard to find! If you add up the total experience of the barbers it's probably over 100 years! Jennifer is a Master Barber. Check 2. Value- Barberland is what I would consider a nice gentleman's place. They are less expensive than Roosters. They offer full service shaves and haircuts for all ages and hairstyles. Check 3. Online Scheduling- you can book your appointment in advance online. I don't like to waste time or stress about waiting at a barbershop for an hour; not knowing if you are getting the worst barber. Not a problem here. Check 4. Customer service- I have had my hair and my 9-year-old sons hair cut here. Everyone is extremely friendly and personable. Also, if you don't feel like a chatty Kathy they wont talk your ear off! DO NOT COME HERE. Jennifer (the owner) gave me my cut, and it was very clear that she cared more about how she thought hair looked versus what I asked for. I showed her a picture of me and explained I wanted it same but a little longer on top. I had to ask her to cut it again twice because she kept telling my it wouldn't look good even though I wanted basically the same cut from the picture, which was very rude because I think my hair looks good that way. At the end of the haircut she sighed, but I finally got something close to what I wanted. Disappointing experience. The website advertises, "High-end, Professional, Stress free and Trustworthy Gentleman's Barber Services". I scheduled an appointment for a "Premium Haircut and Beard Trim" with Jennifer...the "Master Barber". However, that's not how things worked out. When I arrived today, I was the only customer in the shop. I found Jennifer milling around and a stylist sitting in a chair in the waiting area. Jennifer greeted me then asked no questions...didn't verify who I was, didn't check if I had an appointment, didn't confirm the service I'd made a reservation for...she simply deferred me to the other stylist. Once I was seated, it quickly became clear the stylist and I weren't communicating effectively. Her English was not great, and I wasn't exactly sure how to explain what I wanted. She tried hard to talk through my wishes. But, eventually she went to get Jennifer to translate. Once Jennifer arrived, there was little further discussion. I attempted to explain what I wanted, but she instead told me how she believed my hair should be cut...no question. Fortunately, her version didn't seem far from what I actually wanted. So, I cautiously deferred to her. In turn, she gave instructions to the stylist in a language I was unfamiliar with, and then turned to walk away. I quickly reminded her I also wanted a beard trim. She quickly responded with a curt statement, and then again gave instructions to the stylist in a language I didn't understand. She then quickly walked away. To her credit, the stylist spent the next 30 minutes carefully cutting my hair and beard. She worked silently, but was polite, respectful, and accommodating. As she worked, Jennifer moved around the store looking at a few little things and watching out the window. In the middle of my cut, she took a call...it sounded like someone asking to be squeezed in. She told the person to come over, and about 10 minutes later, in he walked. Much to my annoyance, Jennifer welcomed him with a smile, showed him immediately to her own chair, then had a very collaborative discussion about how to cut his hair. Finally she spent about 15 minutes performing a simple cut while carrying on a very nice conversation with him. As I watched it all go down, I couldn't help wonder what happened when I walked in earlier? She advertises, "high end...professional...stress free...trustworthy". Yet, she'd deferred my appointment to someone else without even an attempt at an explanation. Her engagements with me were curt. And I felt far from stress free. I'd experienced almost the opposite of what was advertised. Yet, this person...who arrived without an appointment...felt everything good claimed...professional, stress free, trustworthy...check, check, and check. I again want to emphasize, the stylist who took care of me was very nice, and did a fine job. But, that's beside the point. My appointment was with Jennifer. But, she wasn't interested in fulfilling her commitment to me. And, when we did interact, it was far from a stress free, trustworthy experience. Very disappointing experience. I won't be back, and can't see how I'd recommend anyone make an appointment with Jennifer. Perhaps with the other stylist. But, certainly not Jennifer. read more

Jennifer preformed a spa quality facial, which made his skin glow. She took her time to exfoliate his dead skin on his face and head.
