My daughter is 13 and she really enjoyed her experience with Barbizon. We attended the Maryland Competition and she got an Honorable mention for her age group along with 6 callbacks. They are very kid oriented and care about their success. She was in both modeling and acting and had a few extras so her cost was above the bottom line. They are relatively competitive when it comes to that. She attended the Louisville classes for in person classes and she said they were good and she learned a lot and had fun. They are closed sessions (no parents) Personally, I think they should have a little more one on one time with the children on the zoom classes. They do teach the basics, but they do not practice with them. The zoom meetings are way short. Too much of an assembly, not so much a class. I noticed they do not inform you of certain things in the classes, that I feel are extremely important to their success. Having been in this for 3 years now and also attending other schools, I feel they should stress key points, such as how important it is to pay attention to details, and follow directions precisely and the important keys to a strong slate, the different forums they need to sign up for and use, (ie, Actors Access, Casting Networks, Casting Frontier) and the work permits they need as minors from different states. Can not stress how important it is for parents to know this upfront, not be surprised on the back end with more hidden fees.. one thing is for sure, this path is NOT cheap! Also the facts that their education will continue on set and they push for good grades and attendance is amazing! Barbizon is a great company to work for and with. I have personally worked with Barbizon in many different roles. My first introduction to Barbizon was as a very shy student with goals of one day being a model or actress. Through my classes I learned how to be more confident and even speak up in class more often. I started auditioning for roles and came very close a few times, but ultimately decided my education took priority. Years later I was contacted by Barbizon and asked if I would be interested in teaching for them. I went to training and loved it! I have now worked with Barbizon for many years, in several different roles, and continue to see how much of an impact Barbizon has on the lives of the students (and parents) who come to our classes. It is amazing to watch a shy, nervous child start to overcome some of their fears by the end of the first day as they connect with classmates and have fun. And then watching that same child shine with confidence on the last day of class as they show off everything they have learned. This is why I LOVE this job. I've been with Barbizon for 8 years as an instructor and now Solo Director of Education, and I have loved every minute of it. The best part of my job is watching students grow both as performers and as individuals during the months that I get to work with them. I've had students who are currently on their way to working full time in the entertainment industry, and I've had students who just wanted to work on their self confidence. Enrolling my 8-year-old daughter at Barbizon has truly been one of the best decisions we've made. My journey started as an instructor. Barbizon booked a flight for me to train in Tampa, Florida, for 5 days, with all expenses paid, including lodging and travel. As an instructor, I had the opportunity to travel to Rochester, NY, White Plains, NY, Baltimore, and Virginia. I was able to teach, mentor, and coach so many young adults who were looking to become better models and actors, or simply seeking personal development skills. Less than a year later, the company flew me back to Tampa to train to become the Director of Education. In this role, I've had the opportunity to travel to Detroit, North Carolina, Louisville, Kentucky, and Rockville, MD. The most memorable experience thus far was being a chaperone at Passport to Discovery, one of the largest competitions that Barbizon offers to all graduates. While there, I ran into old students whom I had taught across the East and West Coasts. I had the opportunity to chaperone a group of 12 young adults and guide them the entire way. Some of my students received over 25 callbacks from different agencies across the globe. I tell my students all the time that if I could go back, I would definitely take advantage of every opportunity Barbizon has to offer. read more

Barbizon has been an amazing company/program for my granddaughter! My granddaughter began getting bullied once he entered high school at a private school. We entered her in the classes with Barbizon to build her confidence and show her positiveness in the business. We really had no idea how the business worked or what we were doing. Brooke from Barbizon in the last few days has taught us what we need to do and has guided us to help my granddaughter actually get herself out there to be represented and get into the business. I can't say enough great things about the program and the people we have met! I know a few say the cost is pricey, but in reality, you are paying for the education/classes you need to get into the entertainment business. I was a Barbizon student many years ago, and my experience as a student was very informative, especially as someone who was interested in the entertainment industry and was willing to take it seriously as a career, it significantly helped me and led to many more doors of opportunities in this field. I learned so much about actors and models in front of the camera information and a lot more information about behind the camera as well. it was one of the most impactful experiences of my life as a teenager when I attended it as a student. especially it helped me in my personal growth journey as well as busting my confidence. 10 years ago I graduated the first Barbizon class held in my area. I absolutely loved every minute of it and was thrilled to go on to compete in their annual competitions! I became very involved in the competitions and even worked some competitions; it was a fabulous experience every time. Barbizon helped me book acting & modeling work through the Placement department and even introduced me to my current manager. Now, I am working as an instructor teaching the class I graduated from 10 years ago! I have so much fun working with the kids and sharing my Barbizon experiences with them. I started Barbizon when I was in highschool. During presentations I could stand in front of the class but I was VERY awkward. After Barbizon I was the queen of presenting. I felt so confident. thats what helped me build my brand "Don't Keep the Key to Confidence Confidential". After Barbizon I decided I loved the classes so much that I HAD to become a teacher to inspire kids the way my teacher inspired me. Once I started teaching I just had so much fun. I originally took these Barbizon classes when I was 17 years old finishing high school. I was so shy and could barely function with the extreme anxiety I had of the world. Barbizon's classes not only helped me relieve my anxieties; but helped me discover who I am. I learned that the world isn't as scary as my head was making it out to be; I learned to build my resume, apply for colleges, how to be successful in job interviews and much more. Immediatley after I graduated the classes I got my first job with my first interview! My name is Lauren Wright. I am 19 years old, I have been intrested in modeling for about a year. Currently a student with Barbizon , this is my 6th month now and my journey with Barbizon has been easy and fun. The environment they created is amazing , either in person or on zoom I do feel safe and comfortable to learn. Although I am more interested into modeling , the acting things we do/ learn are always fun. They also help with personal development, which I think this is perfect for kids to get to know themselves and to build confidence.
